ELIZABETH BRIGHT f | Healing inflammation & stress: Snacking on butter & beef jerky is great
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 910 | Dr Elizabeth Bright
5 Minute Body podcast
Raw milk?
-pasteurization takes away
probiotic content that is supposed
to make digestion easier
-NOT changing the macronutrient:
-lactose, protein, milkfat
"I use macronutrients to heal
my patients.
Carnivore gut DOES NOT NEED
the probiotics that the vegetable
eating gut needs"
Butter: salted or not?
-either is fine
5 Minute Body Gal:
"I eat unsalted butter with Redmond
Real Salt on top"
Bacon?
"My husband loves pork; I love lamb.
Bacon is great!
If inflamed, see if you can handle
the agent that it is processed with"
Fruit?
-not necessary
-if you do well with heavy cream:
add berries in summer: okay
"the few berries you eat will not
throw you out of ketosis.
There are no antinutrients in fruit.
-Tropical fruits have so much more
sugar than berries & apples, so
be careful
-Even with Parkinson's: ok
"Vegetables have antinutrients: fruits just have sugar"
Coffee?
-recommend decaf
"I drink it every morning &
sometimes in afternoon
Healing: how many meals a day?
-if inflamed, moving from high
carb eating or high stress...
-need to balance blood sugar &
stop adrenaline from kicking in
by eating SMALL AMOUNTS OF
FAT THROUGHOUT DAY
gives energy needed to stay in parasympathetic state
Fasting for those in healing state?
-medically speaking, if not eating
carbs, that is fasting
-we know, eating butter gives
energy, so is not fasting, but OK
"When I am working all day, I will
snack...butter on beef jerky"
-keeps me able to think clearly

ELIZABETH BRIGHT e | Ruminant FAT gives omega 3 & calcium…salmon & sardines OK
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 909 | Dr Elizabeth Bright
5 Minute Body podcast
Chicken breast...good to eat?
-after healing, yes.
-higher in omega6, so chicken
legs & thighs better than breast
"Don't be afraid of anything
[high stress!]. But, if have
autoimmune issues, may
be more susceptible to omega6.
Some may also be susceptible to
pork [when grain-fed].
ONCE HEALED; WON'T BE AS
SUSCEPTIBLE TO NON-OPTIMAL FOOD
Chicken has low iron...
-ruminant meat, beef & lamb
has more iron
-fish has low iron, so
BEEF & LAMB should be the
BACKBONE OF OUR DIET for iron
-other carnivore foods fine when
we are non-inflamed!
Salmon?
-if farm-raised...they don't eat
good food
-wild salmon is fine
-beef & lamb, not necessary to be
grass-fed, is better than salmon
-we don't eat fatty part of salmon
-it is a good food when healed
Carnivore?
-spend less on carnivore than
before
-when healing and functioning
better, spending less money
-making more money due to
feeling better
Can eat hot dogs & sardines
-depending on what you need to
fix, can be low budget carnivore
Sardines & anchovies?
-careful... packed in 5% olive oil
95% safflower oil!
"I get enough calcium without
having to eat the bones of these.
I get enough omega3 from the
fat of ruminant meat"
A great snack, however, is
anchovies, butter, on toast...
'just don't eat the toast!'

ELIZABETH BRIGHT d | CARDIO is nonsense RAISES CORTISOL BURNS NEURONS and BONES
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 908 | Dr Elizabeth Bright
5 Minute Body podcast
Question: How does cortisol &
stress hold onto fat?
-puts you in fight or flight mode
-liver MAKES sugar, sends to
muscles for flight
-LAST thing is digesting food
Question: in context of healing...
"CALORIES DON'T MATTER;
CALORIES DON'T MATTER,
but most need to eat to satiety"
Hormones MATTER...
-stress is INFLAMMATION
-could be hair dye, skin cream
[full of xenoestrogens]
"If body is in fight or flight;
does NOT WANT TO RID FAT"
When in fight or flight: no cardio
"Doing too much cardio, I maxed
out my adrenals"
-not hurting adrenal tissue, but
-body will not allow chronic high
cortisol: burns neurons & bones
-brain & pituitary gland will NOT
produce ACTH [pituitary hormone]
-end up with LOW CORTISOL
-high cortisol eventually is LOW
Caffeine & cardio will force adrenals
to make cortisol...WON'T RECOVER
Studies: if heart rate is high for
15 minutes...body will produce
cortisol
-need to keep it under 15 min
-weight-training allows pause
between sets
-HIIT constantly keeps heart rate up
Long walks are wonderful...
-in parasympathetic state
[not on treadmill 'faster!']
"The heart rate deal comes from
'calories in calories out'
DOES NOT WORK
IT IS NOT TRUE
Hormones matter: they decide

ELIZABETH BRIGHT c | HEALING PERIOD FOR ENDOCRINE SYSTEM:one month minimum
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 907 | Dr Elizabeth Bright
5 Minute Body podcast
1 pound of meat a day [454g]...
-temporary protocol while healing
-after one month
[book: Good Fat for Women]
-if inflammation down
-able to be in ketosis longer term
"If can increase protein AND stay
in ketosis: okay"
-if fixing bipolar: stay on high fat
until brain metabolism improves
We need protein, can do what we
need to on 1 or 1.2g/day per
ideal body weight pounds
"I built 3 kg of muscle while eating
76/24 fat to protein, in a month
when started lifting weights"
76 = 76% of calories are fat
24 = 24% of calories are protein
[use app:
-My Fitness Pal or
-Carb Manager]
Both men & women;
Healing period for endocrine
system is one month
"I don't measure everyday.
I checked when I was gaining
muscle mass: it was 76/24.
Don't necessarily have to be
high protein to gain muscle"
Question: How to tell that the
healing period is over?
-joints don't hurt anymore
-wake up with more energy
-able to sleep better
"I use questionnaire with patients.
Presenting issues must be
addressed in the healing period"
-patient may not lose weight, but
symptoms improve
-psychotic attacks gone
-kidneys functioning better...
Question: Patient has not lost
'20 pounds' [their goal]...
-likely cortisol issue, so
get salivary cortisol test
-lifestyle:
-no phone to bed
-lights off at 9:00
-stop running marathons
Example: patient listens to piano
riff over & over through night
-now hears it in brain during stressful times
-switches into parasympathetic state

ELIZABETH BRIGHT b | ADRENAL & THYROID dysfunction: go 80% animal fat; 20% animal protein
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 906| Dr Elizabeth Bright
5 Minute Body podcast
Skin & digestion are more sensitive
to adrenal dysfunction...
-when in 'fight or flight' mode,
cannot digest
-skin gets psoriasis & eczema
-sympathetic depression is
also adrenal
-also depression, bipolar &
schizophrenia related to low
thyroid function
Question: How to get to 80/20?
[80% fat & 20% protein]
Visualize:
-1 stick of butter &
1 pound of meat
Ruminant fat is least inflammatory
Why do some people gain weight
while doing 80/20?
-they have to HEAL
-if stuck in 'fight or flight'
body will hold onto bodyfat
Fight or flight:
-constantly yo-yo dieting
-running 10 miles a day
-constant high-cortisol state
Inflammation & stress cause
the same issues
-causes too much dopamine
High fat carnivore eating:
-lowers inflammation
-lowers cortisol
-from hypersympathetic to
parasympathic state
As physician, I use butter and
recommend butter for high fat...
-if sensitive to butter
-if feeling more inflammation
-try tallow or ghee instead
[our immune system looking for
proteins...butter has a little]
-sensitivity to butter won't be
forever...just in the beginning
in some people

ELIZABETH BRIGHT a | LOW T? CAUSED BY: -low fat diet -low thyroid -low iodine
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 905| Dr Elizabeth Bright
5 Minute Body podcast
Dr Elizabeth Bright...
-in ketosis gives optimal health
-cannot if eating carbs
-as male, eating ribeye steaks,
high fat, is great
-women need MORE FAT
-due to indocrine system
-to give healthy hormone levels
Cholesterol makes steroid hormones
-so, women need 80/20 fat/protein
-during healing process
-then, down to 70/30 is okay
Many of my women patients tell
me: go back to 80/20 when under
heavy stress
-no need to track numbers
"If I have lots of work, I may put
more butter on my beef jerky
as a snack"
Men: I start with 70/30
Indocrine system are the glands
that make hormones...
-hormones tell body what to do
-all steroid hormones made
of cholesterol
-all thyroid, peptide, hormones
made of protein
-NO HORMONES MADE OF CARBS
Thyroid is master gland
-regulates all other hormones
Thyroid directs everything, so
-erectile dysfunction, doctor will
say lack of testosterone, but
-thyroid directs how much is made
from fat that is eaten
-if under stress, will make cortisol
[steroid hormone] INSTEAD OF
TESTOSTERONE
-caused by:
-low fat diet, or
-low thyroid function, or
-low iodine

BEN BIKMAN c | Hyperthyroidism AND TSH low: problem with thyroid gland itself [tumor?]
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 902 | Dr Ben Bikman
InsulinIQ.com podcast
Thyroid resistance...
-eating low carb may reduce thyroid
hormone because the thyroid is
working better
-other hormones act the same way,
when they are not overused, they will
reduce
"No evidence of thyroid damage with
low carb eating"
Almost every autoimmune condition has
an environmental trigger.
If someone has a genetic predispostion
of over-active immune system, something
in environment can pull the trigger
-Hashimoto's and low carb, there are
cases of improvement in the disease
-by avoiding carbs, they avoid gluten
which helps with Hashimoto's
Thyroid unhealthy?
-very tired, always cold, gaining weight
-hypothyroidism
-If hot, sweaty palms, losing weight, jittery
-hyperthyroidism
They are feeling difference in thyroid
levels [not TSH]
Check TSH to determine root cause
If someone presented with hyperthyroidism
-and TSH was LOW
-problem likely at thyroid gland itself
-brain is signaling turn off thyroid, but
it is high anyway
[thyroid is not listening to pituitary]
-perhaps a tumor in the thyroid gland
If hyperthyroidism and TSH HIGH
-probably problem at pituitary gland
If hypothyroidism and TSH HIGH, that is
likely thyroid gland not listening
If hypothyroidism and TSH HIGH, that is
likely thyroid gland not listening
-could be iodine deficiency
-if not enough for thyroid to pull in to
create thyroid hormone, so
CANNOT MAKE HORMONE, but
TSH HIGH and
-can get a goiter [large gland] but
not producing hormone

BEN BIKMAN b | Low carb eating DOES NOT DAMAGE THYROID…it improves it!
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 901 | Dr Ben Bikman
InsulinIQ.com podcast
If thyroid hormone [T3] too low, TSH
will go up
-if T3 too high, thyroid releasing tumor,
then TSH would go down
"Pop culture myth: thyroid is down, the
gland is damaged when eating low carb"
-THAT IS NONSENSE
-total of all studies on low carb, over 100
years of studies
-NOT ONE SINGLE MENTION of
hypothyroidism
Dietary studies report negative outcomes...
Example:
-'we noted these cases of hypoglycemia...'
-Never once mentioned hypothyroidism
However, a few studies have shown a
reduction in T3, lower than before
But NOT TSH
"If the body were hypothyroid,
TSH would be high"
-brain would signal a lack of thyroid
On low carb eating:
TSH stays normal
T3 drops
Analogy: person, obese, high insulin
-if go low carb, would we say
their pancreas is damaged
because insulin level dropped'?
Of COURSE NOT
-because person is more insulin sensitive

NADIR ALI G | SERIAL CALCIUM SCORE. use it! if high LDL but great HDL & triglyceride
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 897 | Dr Nadir Ali
Dr Morgan Nolte interview
Insulin resistance, diabetes,
inflammation, high blood pressure...
-all get better with low carb eating
& fasting
If you have addressed these & still
are concerned about heart disease:
-get calcium score
Example:
patient has all good markers, LDL high:
-calcium score check calcium in heart
blood vessels with CAT scan
If 50, calcium score = 0
-no calcium in vessels
-you have great health markers
"Calcium score 0 predicts 10 years
excellent heart outcomes"
AHA says:
"If calcium 0, no benefit from statin"
Where do we have uncertainty?
-on carnivore diet
[my opinion, we are designed for it]
-and fasting
LDL can go to 300, 500...
Healthy?
-Don't know
Recommend: serial calcium scores
-if no calcium or plaque in several years
-that will provide the answer
Anecdotal information...
-1 to 2 year follow up
[those high LDL & calcium 0]
some 90 y.o. women, high LDL,
xray shows no vessel blockages
Evidence that high LDL is
NOT THE CULPRIT
-other factors may be causal
-LDL just a red herring
But, we don't know for sure

NADIR ALI E | 99% of clinical trials FULLY PAID BY DRUG INDUSTRY
http://www.DoctorsToTrust.com
presents episode 894 | Dr Nadir Ali
Dr Morgan Nolte interview
Vast majority of studies are done
by pharmaceutical industry...
-hire all people involved
-want to present information on new
products in the best light
-only ones privy to the data
"May exclude participants' data that
does not fit their goal"
"Drug companies have been known to
lie in the past"
Therefore: CONFLICT OF INTEREST
In 2006, US Congress did pass law
that all trials had to be published,
at least online
[We know that journals and reprints
are widely used to mislead doctors]
Now: clinical trials on statins:
1994 Forest Trial
4000 heart patients: 5 years
-half given statin; half not
"This is the best trial for statins that
has been done"
Results with these high risk patients:
-those with statins vs not; at 1 year:
-statin group 0.6% less mortality
"This benefit, VERY SMALL, is not
understood by most physicians"
Statin Side Effects
-my 50% patients have myopathy
-generally 20 to 30%
-memory & cognitive troubles
-reduced testosterone

presents episode 891 | Dr Nadir Ali
Dr Morgan Nolte interview
The reason that animal-based eating
causes LDL levels to show higher is
-not due to you making more, but
-your liver stops making it since
you are eating more
-liver doesn't pick it up from blood
Person who has low insulin, low
triglycerides, high HDL, & low
inflammation markers...
-but has high LDL
IS THAT THE SAME AS
person with high LDL & high
blood sugar, insulin, low HDL etc.?
NO--opposite people
Physicians agree that a type 1 diabetic
who is out of control [blood sugars
very high] is high risk for heart disease
-because triglycerides high, HDL low
Question: what level LDL?
-LDL will be low
Example
100 diabetics 50 years old
match [same weight] as
100 non-diabetics
Q: who will have higher LDL?
A: non-diabetics have higher LDL
Diabetics have a higher risk of
getting heart disease [but LDL lower]
Case
Several diabetic patients said:
-will go low carb & intermittent fast
so have same low blood sugar
as normal person
-These type 1 diabetics achieved it!
-Blood sugars & triglycerides DOWN
-HDL UP & LDL UP DRAMATICALLY
Check...
-maintains low blood sugar
-excellent blood markers
"Why would body be so stupid to
get EVERYTHING NORMAL, but
LDL GO UP?"
