What the terrorist attack on Israel teaches us about home and community protection.
A week ago we witnessed a terrible terrorist attach on innocent men, women and children. Hamas brutalized and killed people demonstrating that evil exists. Further, as much as we might hope and pray that the police will be there to stop evil people intent on rape, assault, and murder ... hope will never stop violence of those intending to do it.
For years the far left has been advocating the disarmament of law abiding responsible citizens. Perhaps their goal is well intended and none of us wants violence. However their position is ignorant and naive. Many people have grown complacent convinced evil won't touch them. But time and time again, we've seen that the kind, well meaning naive people get attached.
Last over 1200 Israelis were killed , thousands of other were wounded and well over 100 people were taken hostage. Their horror of the hostages will be ongoing, especially the children and women who will be raped and defiled by Hamas
There is a lesson the far left refuses to admit. That lesson is simple. Armed innocents have a chance of survival unarmed people don't. This is a fact...many who fought back with semi-automatic weapons survived. They survived because they were prepared, organized and trained.
In this video, we discuss why semi-auto long guns are obviously the choice when faced with numerous attackers.
Let's us pray for Israel. Let us learn and hope for the best as we plan for the worst.

Sig 365X-Macro Comp. Quick impressions
We recently had the opportunity to shoot the Sig P365X-Macro. Having shot several P365s and carrying the 365XL on a daily basis, I'm well aware of the quality, accuracy and shootability of these pistols. However, I was pretty much blown away with the 365X-Macro!
This pistol has great ergonomics, sights, trigger, and a highly effective porting system that is part of the slide vs on the barrel itself. The full sized frame and recoil mitigating effect of the ported slide made the X-Macro a joy to shoot. Having a 17 +1 round capacity is amazing especially in this carry pistol!
Details from the Sig website:
"The P365-XMACRO COMP brings MORE of everything that made the P365 the #1 selling gun in America.
With an innovative new magazine design the P365-XMACRO COMP packs a full-size 17+1 round capacity into the thin, iconic profile of the P365. The P365-XMACRO is also more shootable, with an integrated compensator that reduces muzzle flip and makes follow-up shots faster and more accurate. And with its slim, 1” wide design the P365-XMACRO COMP is more concealable and more comfortable to carry than any other 17 round gun on the market.
More capacity.
More shootability.
More concealability.
The P365-XMACRO. MACRO means MORE.
P365-XMACRO COMP Features:
All-New Macro-Compact Grip Module Featuring Standard 1913 Rail
Integrally Compensated Optic Ready Slide
(2) 17rd Steel Magazines with High Visibility Followers

Flash Sight Picture... what is it and why use it?
A few subscribers asked us to talk about the use of a "flash sight picture" and how to train with it.
This term refers to getting a very quick "picture" of the sights on the target and breaking the shot as soon as the "picture" is close enough to deliver hits on the target. In the case of a "flash sight picture", the focus is on the target and a "snap shot" very fast look at the sights. This technique is not seeking perfer rear and front sight focus. Nor is this used for shots requiring precision.
We found this technique can speed up the presentation.
We love to hear your thoughts about using the technique and why you do or don't like it! Please share your comments.

The Glock performance trigger, is it worth the money?
Glock pistols are known for the reliability, durability and long term performance. Some people don't like the aesthetics (the look) of the pistol but it works and can be counted on when your life depends on it.
Our two grips of the stock glock pistol is the trigger and it's plastic sights.
Glock introduced their "Performance Trigger" at shot show in January, 2023. SInce the introduction it' has won many many positive reviews. But the question remains, is this trigger worth the money. In this video we share our perspective.
According to the Glock website..."The GLOCK Performance Trigger delivers enhanced trigger pull qualities and ergonomics utilizing a newly designed flat-faced trigger. The GLOCK Performance Trigger provides better trigger control, resulting in improved shootability and accuracy while maintaining the safety features of the GLOCK Safe Action® System."

M&P 1.0 9mm pistol, 20,000 round update
In this video we talk about one of my favorite Gen 1 9mm pistols that recently crossed the 20,000 round mark. Yes, that's a bunch of rounds through this pistol.
Based on our experience, M&P pistols have proven to be reliable, durable and accurate. The line has excellent ergonomics and a low bore axis. Both of these aid the operator and allow fast accurate hits on target.
This particular M&P pistol sports the Apex Grade pistol barrel, a trigger job and cerakote by BG Gunworks. This gun has been 100% reliable with any quality ammo. The only stoppages have happened with my reloads or cheap remanufactured ammo.
We prefer the 1.0 frames as the newer 2.0 frames no longer sport the beavertail. However the newest M&Ps do have an improved stock trigger that gets close to the BG Gunworks trigger job.
Bottom line, we have been super impressed with the M&P line!

CZ P 10 C 9mm pistol, likes and dislikes
We share some thoughts on the CZ P10 C.
This compact polymer frame is high quality pistol is an amazing value. Affordably priced, it has great ergonomics, sights and trigger! With a 15+1 capacity, it's a good option for home defense or EDC.
We found the stippling a bit to aggressive for our tastes but some folks may like it. The low bore axis is a winner and grip angle makes very shootable.

The Joy of .22 Bolt Guns
Some people don't appreciate and value basic skills, especially how leveraging the .22 rimfire cartridge in a simple tool can improve their abilities. Many of the so called tactical experts lack basic humility and desire to be open to skill development or even acknowledge their own abilities. They believe only in their approach is valuable or worse that they hold absolute truth as far as training.
I've met many people who discount the value of the .22 rimfire cartridge and the value of using this cartridge to enhance marksmanship.
In this video we explore why a simple .22 rimfire bolt action rifle can help develop and expand marksmanship skills.

Revolvers...outdated or still relevant?
Popular group think suggests that revolvers are old technology, outdated, and irrelevant. Some people have stated they're not "as good" as a modern semi-auto.
In this video we discuss revolvers and how and why I believe they're still relevant... especially for enhancing your basic skills. They certainly have a place for many people seeking to develop proper trigger and sight management.
In addition, although revolvers are not my primary choice for personal protection, they can and do provide an option for many.
If you're ever in an armed encounter, your training, proficiency and ability to deliver accurate hits to the threat will likely matter for more than the brand, model or type of pistol or revolver you're using.
Revolvers and semi-autos in this video show the S&W 686, the M&P 2.0 Metal, the Sig Legion P226 and the STI Staccato P.

We put 300 rounds the the 365 XL using this red dot. The newer version of the CAT Pro boasts longer battery life and a beefed-up housing.

ATF Pistol Brace Insanity
Recent rule changes on pistol braces from the ATF have placed millions of law abiding citizens in legal jeopardy.
Multiple court cases have been filed in an effort to fight this massive overreach by a a government agency. However, the outcome of those cases will take time and many judges are ignoring the US Supreme Court rulings in Heller and Bruen.
Only congress can write laws not government agency's, but the current administration is committed to demolishing the 2nd amendment by any means possible.
The whole process is a mess

"But an "AR15" has more power"...
In the video we share how some progressives look at cosmetic features to determine what is or is not "more" powerful and dangerous.
We compare three semi-automatic long guns ( S&W 15-22, The M1 Garand and the SKS). And discuss why some people, who have no experience with firearms, make their decisions of "danger" based on what the think they know or "rifle furniture".
Our belief is talking some time to be curious about someones perspective and asking questions... and / or sharing an experiential learning experience can open the mind of people. Through conversation and listening, many people gain a deeper understanding of firearms, how they work, and that the majority of gun owners are not "nut jobs".

Olight PL-3 vs Valkyrie Turbo
We test two of the Olight weapons mounted lights. Olight is running an amazing discount on these lights as a Cyber Monday, Black Friday sale. Details below.
The lights worked well in our range test. Both version were tested on a couple of different handguns. We fired approximately 300 rounds with each light and there we no problems.
The price point of these lights is significantly less that other popular brands. I think they're s decent option for someone looking for a light that won;t break the bank.

The Red dot performed well in our test. We shot roughly 200+ rounds. Most of the shooting was performed at 7-10 yards. However, we did shoot steel at 35 yards without issue. The dot was clear and the glass with clear. As a budgeted priced RMS it's price point is generally around $100.

Oregon Residents, Vote No on Ballot Measure 114
Ballot Measure 114 is a poorly conceived anti-gun scheme designed to deprive Oregonians of their 2nd amendment rights. It's impact will be especially felt by those who do not have the money, time and resources to exercise their 2A right. I see this as a way to deny minorities and those without the means the right to legally purchase a firearm. This is outrageous and unacceptable!
The goal of the measure is establishment and requirement of a special state approved "Firearms ID" permit to purchase a firearm. The new program would require specific training (that doesn't exist) and CBC check regardless currently held certifications and licenses such as Oregon's Concealed Handgun License. So if your a hunter, plinker, self-defense advocate, or practical shooting sport participant, you will now be required to get a special permit, to buy a firearm. Your previous training and certifications are irrelevant.
The specific pedagogy for the training is not defined in any detail. Somehow the state will do this... later? Under this new licensing scheme the state will have 10 days to "approve" your right to buy a firearm after you complete a test that doesn't yet exist.
The state can charge you up to $65 every 5 years to "allow you" to buy a firearm. You'll have to complete "State approved" training that includes live fire with a firearm, but you can't complete that if you don't own a gun. A perfect Catch-22!
Apparently these progressives were unaware there is a federal requirement for background check when you buy a firearm every time you buy one.
This new law bans purchase of any magazine holding more than 10 rounds. And ensures you can only use standard capacity magazines except in "state approved" places. Using standard capacity mags, in shooting pits, on federal lands or any "unapproved ranges" will be a crime.
Simply put this is a terrible law... it will hurt minority communities or economically disadvantaged people the most. Effectively this will make their 2nd amendment right to self defense a "state approved" right or force people to purchase a gun for self defense illegally.

M&P 2 0 Metal 9mm Range Review
We test the new Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm metal frame pistol on the range.
We put roughly 300-350 rounds through this pistol in our first range test. More shooting and updates will follow.
Results we were impressive and the pistol was a joy to shoot. It provided great accuracy and soft felt recoil. Three dot sights worked fine but this pistol will really shine with a red dot optic.
The trigger was crisp and consistent. However, the trigger lack a tactile trigger reset, not a deal breaker but I was noticeable especially in comparison to other M&P polymer 2.0 frames.
This pistol came from our friends at AIM.

Just how good is the Sig P365XL pistol?
We give our take of the P365XL 9mm pistol. I admit, we were not expecting to like this pistol as much as we did. However, the 365XL is an absolute winner.
This pistol was incredibly accurate. It has exceptional sights, ergonomics, and, ready to accept a Red Dot Optic.
We loved the way the gun shot. It was easy to deliver quick hits on target and was one of the softer shooting compact pistols we've shot. Reliability was excellent. The fact is, the 356XL is easy and fun to shoot.
Our only concerns were; 1) The magazine release button is so close to the frame it's difficult to actuate. 2) The pistol comes with two 12 round magazines (even though Sig makes a 15 round mag for this pistol). we believe Sig would have done better if they had shipped these pistols with both a 12 round and a 15 round magazine. 3) Sig charges almost $50 per extra magazine and given the components, I believe Sig is over charging for their magazines.
Bottom line, I highly recommend this pistol. It's perfect to EDC and a solid option for your personal protection needs.
