Guns, Gear and On Target Training

I get asked all the time should I buy used or new? Well... it depends. I bought many great guns over the years and several of them have been used. I'm a fan of police trades like this Gen 3 Glock 23 in .40. The gun as a tiny bit of holster wear but is otherwise in excellent condition. Most police trades have been carried but never shot very much. If you're looking a buying a handgun, I'd encourage you to consider a great deal like this one that cost less than $350!

We're all being impacted by the Covid-19 virus. And for most us we're blessed in that we're not ill or on the front lines fighting the virus. For committed gun owners, just because you're practicing "social distancing" or have been asked to "shelter in place", it doesn't mean you can't still work your skills / practice. In this video we share some basic dry practice drills that can help you maintain proficiency...even without a weekly trip to the range. Remember, "dry practice" means NO live ammo in your designated dry practice area. Firearms safety is a lifestyle choice!

These are interesting times. I'm glad to see so many people exercising their constitutional rights to keep and bear arms. If you're new to gun ownership, you should also take classes and get training. Unlike what is portrayed in the movies, there is far more to firearms ownership than the gun and ammo. The gun owner also needs to understand and practice firearms safety and proper storage. Again, if you're new to gun ownership, please get firearms training. Bottom line, exercise your 2nd amendment right and the responsibility that come with that right. Stay safe!

We compare the 3 double stacked 2.0 M&P pistols. The 4", the 3.6" and the new Subcompact 9c. I also offer my option on which one I'd choose for EDC. We've been asked by several subscribers to talk about revolvers and if they're viable for personal protection. Like any weapons platform there are pros and cons. We share some thoughts on this subject.

I take a new completely stock M&P 2.0, 5" to the range and demonstrate how well these guns shoot right out of the box. This gun was purchased as a backup for my well used M&P range gun. Right out of the box I was able to produce reasonable results.

We spend some time on the range with the classic S&W Model 19-3. The target trigger, target hammer target grips and butter smooth double action trigger combine to make an exceptionally enjoyable wheel gun...and so much FUN to shoot. Shooting this revolver is something truly unique and special.

We take a quick look at the beautiful S&W Model 19, .357 Magnum revolver. This is a 19-3 pinned and recessed version. We'll do a more detailed range review in the coming weeks, stay tuned.

We shoot the M&P 5" slide with the Trijicon RMR 1 MOA. I'm a fan of having different slides for different applications. The ported barrel does mitigate the recoil slightly. On the downside it push lots of carbon onto the front sight.

We shoot the S&W Model 10-6 heavy barrel .38 special from Aim Surplus. This revolver was made around 1969-70. While the gun is clearly used (a police trade) it performed exceptionally well. For more information check out www.aimsurplus,com

Range review of the Sig P320 X5 Legion in 9mm. Very impressed with the gun. My first range visit I was having extraction issues using some aluminum cased ammo. I swapped out springs with the 12 pound version that came with the gun... since then are the 320 X5 has been 100%. The pistol's weight and great sights make follow up shots pretty darn easy.

Quick look at the PSA 16" Lightweight upper. This 5.56 upper sports a lightweight stainless steel pencil barrel with a 1 in 7 twist. Also, a stainless Bolt Carrier Group, M-LOK 13 inch forend and MagPul Back Up Sights (MBUS). Fit and finish are excellent! A great deal for less than $300.
