Wall of Worry | Markets 'N5 - Episode 50
The market has clearly broken its downtrend from 2022. It's not to say that we’re completely out of the woods, or that it will be a straight up journey from here. In fact, I would assume this year to be quite volatile - both up and down. However, as long as the market continues to print higher-highs and higher-lows, being invested is the best method of recovery. If you watch the news, the media will continue to paint a dire picture. So during this episode, we discuss the Wall of Worry that the market climbs as it claws out of the lows of a Bear Market.

Half Empty or Half Full? | Markets 'N5 - Episode 49
The more growth oriented sectors of the market have gained some real momentum this year. These are the sectors that typically lead a market down or up. They were beaten down hard last year and so their renewed leadership does make sense if you view the glass as “half full”. There are two distinct camps out there - 1) the worst is yet to come & 2) the worst is behind us - both sides provide sound arguments supporting their opinions. Earnings season is in full swing, but has the market already priced in their lackluster performance? During this episode, we provide some insight into these difficult questions.

What are the odds? | Markets 'N5 - Episode 48
The market is very close to its major down-trend resistance zone. So the question is…will it be successful this time? Several of our short-term indicators are signaling that it might; however, being so close to such strong resistance as we enter earnings season on Friday could give a false sense of security. We remain cautiously optimistic, but are reluctant to accept too much risk until we get the actual breakout. In this episode, we explore the details and odds of risk taking.

Don’t Fight the Fed | Markets 'N5 - Episode 44
The stock market had seemed to be getting some lift as of late, that is….until the Fed made their announcement and quickly deflated the stock market’s tires. They essentially did not give any hope for an end to their Federal Funds tightening policy. Inflation is still a real problem - which anyone who shops for groceries would say…”Duhhh!”. During this week’s episode, Don't Fight the Fed, I explain the current state of affairs and where we feel this market might be heading.

Can Stocks Go Lower? | Markets 'N5 - Episode 43
Learn more and have a chance to talk to me at: cannonadvisors.com
Stocks have dropped nearly 25% so far this year…so can they go lower? Of course they can, or they can go higher…they basically can do whatever they want, and will. They don’t care about what you, I, or anyone thinks; rather they are impacted ultimately by buyers and sellers who are influenced by macro and microeconomic events - such as a company’s profitability or the rising Treasury Yield and Dollar. This is why it’s important to monitor the various economic controls affecting the market and each investment, as well as the technical levels which can help us to determine when the conditions are ripe to either buy or sell a position. During this episode, we explore the technical climate we are facing that is helping to gauge our opinion.

Where are stocks going? | Markets 'N5 - Episode 42
The Fed announced another 0.75% increase to the Fed funds rate this week, and continued to express a fairly hawkish tone. It's important to remember that the stock market is essentially a "futures market", therefore it looks forward well beyond today. So if the market senses more pain, it will price that pain into stock prices well in advance. Vice versa the same holds true in that when the stock market seems the worst but good things appear to be coming on the horizon, the market will also price in a recovery well before things "feel" better. Therefore it’s important to look beyond today when understanding your investments. This is where technical analysis can help us identify the market's landscape. In this weeks’ episode, I discuss one of our favorite indicator strategies to help monitor and measure risk, which can help us identify when it’s a good time to buy, hold or sell individual stocks.
