2022 Toyota RAV4
Overview
While the 2022 Toyota RAV4 isn't the most entertaining compact SUV from a driver's standpoint, its practicality and efficiency bolster its value. The entry-level model is affordable but very basic, but mid-range trims offer plenty of features that buyers in this segment will appreciate. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder is standard as is an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available, but you won’t see even the most rugged model in the RAV4 lineup sidling up to a 4Runner or a Tacoma at the trailhead. Toyota bundles a host of standard driver-assistance features into the RAV4, including adaptive cruise control. Upscale trims come with luxury features such as faux-leather upholstery, heated seats, and a JBL stereo system. Those who want even more efficiency can go with a RAV4 Hybrid, which we review separately.
What's New for 2022?
The RAV4 receives the most minor of updates for 2022: More aggressively-styled headlamps are now offered on all but the base LE model, Calvary Blue is a new available color, and LED fog lamps are now standard on XLE Premium, Limited, Adventure, and TRD Off-Road trims.
It's hard for us to resist the cool new TRD Off-Road, but we'd practice restraint and choose the mid-range XLE Premium. It provides plenty of standard equipment that the LE and XLE don't offer, such as 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, faux-leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Toyota makes its suite of driver-assistance features standard across the lineup, so there's not much reason to go with a pricier trim—unless, of course, you really want ventilated seats.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 2022 RAV4 uses a 203-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive remains standard, but Toyota now offers a choice of all-wheel-drive systems, dependent on trim. The Adventure model we drove was equipped with an all-wheel-drive system that can disconnect the rear axle when needed to improve fuel economy. At our test track, the RAV4 proved to be quicker than its predecessor: We recorded a 60-mph time of 8.0 seconds with the 2019 model and 8.3 seconds with the 2018. The dutiful four-cylinder can be noisy, especially during highway-passing attempts, and the transmission on our test vehicle seemed to stumble when called upon for a downshift. The RAV4 Hybrid—reviewed separately—snapped off an even quicker 7.4-second 60-mph time in our hands. The RAV4 feels solid and stable when cruising the interstate and holds its own when pitched into a twisty section of road, but it doesn't inspire the same confidence as our segment favorite, the Mazda CX-5.

2022 Rivian R1T
Overview
The futuristic R1T is an all-electric pickup truck from new American startup brand Rivian, and it promises 300 miles of driving range and lightning-quick acceleration. At 215.6 inches long, the crew-cab-only R1T splits the difference in size between mid-size pickups such as the Ford Ranger and full-size trucks such as the Ram 1500. The R1T is the first electric pickup truck to make it to production in what seems to be a burgeoning market, soon to include the Ford F-150 Lightning and the GMC Hummer EV SUT.
What's New for 2022?
The R1T is an all-new model from Rivian, and it'll start being delivered to customers by the end of 2021. The truck will be sold directly to consumers, although Rivian says that it also will set up a network of service centers and Tesla-like stores. Going on sale soon after the R1T truck will be the R1S, a seven-passenger SUV with similar specs.
A Launch Edition was offered first but it's long been sold out, leaving the well-equipped Adventure model as the only option for the 2022 model year. A less expensive Explore model will be available for 2023. A larger battery pack that is said to deliver around 400 miles of driving range will be available starting next year for $10,000.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All-wheel drive is standard on the 2022 R1T but it uses a different arrangement than the Tesla Model X: Each wheel of the Rivian is powered by its own electric motor. The R1T boasts up to 800 horsepower and a claimed zero-to-60-mph time of 3.0 seconds. Adjustable air suspension will be standard at launch and can adjust the clearance height from eight to 14 inches. Every version of the R1T has all-wheel drive, with an electric motor at each wheel. This allows the R1T to do what Rivian calls a Tank Turn, which sets the electric motors to rotate the left wheels in the opposite direction of the right ones to spin the truck on its axis. During our first test drive, which we conducted in Colorado's Rocky Mountains, displayed the R1T's impressive off-road capabilities as well as its punchy on-road performance. When we get a chance to put the R1T to the test at our test track, we'll update this story with results.

2021 Aston Martin V12 Speedster
If, as Socrates reckoned, contentment is natural wealth and luxury is artificial poverty, then the Aston Martin V12 Speedster is very luxurious indeed. This pared-back roadster does without a roof, windows, or even a windshield, the last omission being the most obvious when driving it in England while trying to avoid frequent rain showers.
As with the similarly naked Ferrari Monza and McLaren Elva, the V12 Speedster is designed for those in search of something truly different. We imagine the sort of affluent collectors who already have garages filled with fully glazed exotica. Inspiration for its design was drawn from Aston's DBR1, which is high in the running for the title of best-looking race car of the 1950s. The Speedster also bears a more-than-passing resemblance to the CC100 one-off that Aston built to celebrate its centennial in 2013. The company's current design director Miles Nurnberger oversaw the creation of both that car and the Speedster. He also cites some influences from the One-77 in the latter's swoopy carbon-fiber bodywork.
Underneath the V12 Speedster is a version of the Vantage roadster's bonded aluminium chassis, along with most of the front-end structure of the DBS Superleggera grafted on to accommodate the extra bulk of its twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V-12 engine. The car we drove was a late-development prototype but one we were told was representative of the cars that customers will receive later this year, each one priced at the equivalent of about $950,000.
Practicality was predictably low on the V12 Speedster's list of design priorities. Luggage space is limited to pods behind the seats that are sized to transport helmets. There is also a removeable leather bag where the glovebox would normally be. More surprising is the presence of a full climate-control system and even the Vantage's infotainment suite. Our drive took place close to both Aston's engineering center at the Silverstone race circuit and the company's Gaydon headquarters some 25 miles away. This quickly proved that the best efforts of the car's heater and audio system were quickly overwhelmed by the buffeting slipstream at any speed beyond 40 mph.

2022 Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric
Overview
Volvo has chopped the roof on its electric XC40 Recharge SUV to create the more stylish 2022 C40 Recharge. It shares a lot with the XC40 Recharge, including its all-electric powertrain: two electric motors that provide a whopping 402 horsepower, and standard all-wheel drive. The interior is also similar to the XC40's, including that model's clever storage solutions, high-tech Google Android-based infotainment system, and lofty seating height. A large battery pack with 75-kWh of usable energy storage is said to provide an estimated 225-mile driving range per charge. The C40 Recharge will compete against a growing number of small luxury EV SUVs, including the Audi Q4 e-tron, the Mercedes-Benz EQA, and the Tesla Model Y. But don't expect to see the C40 Recharge at your local Volvo dealership as it will be available exclusively via online ordering.
What's New for 2022?
The C40 Recharge, despite sharing much of its mechanical bits and interior design with the XC40 Recharge, is an all-new model for the Volvo lineup.
Although the boxier XC40 Recharge is offered with the entry-level Plus trim, the more stylish C40 is offered only in luxury Ultimate trim, which adds niceties such as a panoramic sunroof, a Harman/Kardon stereo system, and a 360-degree exterior camera system.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All C40 Recharge models come with two electric motors—one mounted in the front and one in the rear—which can deliver up to 402-hp; all-wheel drive is standard. Volvo claims this powertrain can propel the C40 Recharge to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. This powertrain can be found in the XC40 Recharge as well as the Polestar 2 electric car, the latter of which blasted to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds at our test track. Its no surprise that the C40 Recharge drives much like its squareback sibling. Its ride is compliant and its handling is composed, but it lacks the crisp steering and eager demeanor that endears us to rivals such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E. When we get a chance, we'll take the C40 Recharge to our test track and update this story with test results.

2022 Toyota GR Supra
Overview
It's been a few years since the Supra rejoined the Toyota lineup after a long hiatus, but despite our growing familiarity, the 2022 Supra remains one of our favorite sports cars. Although it was developed and is built alongside the BMW Z4 convertible, the Supra coupe offers a personality that's unique from its Bavarian brother, even though the two cars share the same powertrains. The latter include two turbocharged engines, a standard 255-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an optional 382-hp 3.0-liter inline-six. Both feed the rear wheels via a snappy eight-speed automatic transmission. The Toyota's cabin is snug and surprisingly premium, largely because it pulls from the BMW parts bin. The 2022 Supra also packs plenty of infotainment features and safety tech, too.
What's New for 2022?
Toyota has introduced a new limited-edition trim for 2022 called A91-CF, which stands for Carbon Fiber. Only 600 will be built and all of them come with a carbon-fiber body kit, a rear spoiler, matte black 19-inch wheels, and red and black interior upholstery. The A91-CF Edition is offered in three exterior colors: Phantom (matte gray), Absolute Zero White, and Nitro Yellow. Elsewhere, the Supra gains standard heated seats in 3.0 models, a new red interior scheme for the 3.0 Premium, and full-screen Apple CarPlay for those equipped with the optional JBL stereo system.
Although there's little driving emotion lost with the four-cylinder Supra 2.0, we think the zippier acceleration of the six-cylinder 3.0 is worth the added cost for most buyers. We'd skip the Driver Assist package, which adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist that's more annoying than useful. Every Supra comes with a one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association and a complimentary day at a high-performance driving event. The money saved by not purchasing the Driver's Assist package can be spent on additional track time and spare tires.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All Supra models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. At the test track, our long-term 2020 Supra 3.0 laid down some seriously impressive acceleration numbers: hitting 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and 100 mph in 9.5 ticks. That puts it in the big leagues against the Chevy Camaro, the Porsche Cayman GTS, and the BMW M2 Competition. In fact, it's even quicker than the vaunted fourth-generation Supra that was powered by a sequentially-turbocharged inline-six with 320 horsepower. It's a shame that a manual transmission is not available, but hope isn't completely lost. It's rumored that the Supra will gain a stick later in its production run. Despite its performance potential, the Supra's suspension is forgiving enough to drive daily. Its steering is accurate, nicely weighted, and direct, which enhances its fun-to-drive personality. The lower-priced four-cylinder model delivered a brisk 4.7-second 60-mph run at our test track. That's quicker than the Supra's German cousin—the BMW Z4—which managed a 5.0-second 60-mph time.

Aston Martin F1 2021- story of Aston Martin Racing
On the surface the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition might appear to be little more than an extreme and expensive new version of a car we already know and mostly love, with improved performance, steering and handling, and tweaks to the interior that make it feel more special than before. But in reality it is a sign of things to come under the new regime at Aston Martin, and it’s a good sign. In places, a great sign, in fact. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
Not too long ago some seismic changes took place at Aston Martin. The brand re-entered Formula One as a manufacturer in its own right, having not been in the sport since 1960, and it appointed a new boss, Tobias Moers, who had previously been in charge at Mercedes-AMG.
So it made sense to launch a new version of an existing road car to celebrate these two significant events, and the £142,000 Vantage F1 Edition is it.
Quite some car it is, too, and not merely because it’s one of the new pace cars at grands prix. Along with a new range of paints, the Vantage F1 has been modified to make it sharper, quicker and more focused than the V8 Vantage on which it’s based.
The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and eight-speed ZF auto gearbox have been tweaked digitally to give the F1 yet more intent. Power rises from 503bhp to 528bhp, although torque stays the same at 685Nm.
As a result, the 0-62mph time drops to 3.6 seconds, while the top speed climbs to 195mph, or 190mph if you opt for the Roadster, and it accelerates with all of the menace and V8 theatre the Vantage always has. The engine was never an issue.

Aston Martin DBX - Performance Walkaround
Overview
With SUV proportions and towing capability, the 2022 Aston Martin DBX differs from its sports-car siblings, but the high-riding Aston's pretty face and entertaining driving manners make it an authentic member of the legendary British brand. Along with an adult-friendly back seat and usable cargo space, the DBX's interior is as practical as it is beautiful, offering an array of cool colors and rich materials from which to choose. Under the hood is a Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbo V-8 that makes 542 horsepower and sexy sounds. It pairs with standard all-wheel drive. Unfortunately, the Aston isn't as quick as some other six-figure utes. It also suffers from a spongy brake pedal and lacks a lot of popular driver assists. Still, the 2022 DBX delivers a true Aston Martin experience–just from a higher vantage point.
What's New for 2022?
Buyers can now order large 23-inch wheels. (Previously, 22-inchers where the biggest rollers available.) Wireless charging joins the equipment list, and a set of newly optional Sports Plus seats provide additional bolstering to better secure passengers during hard cornering. Lastly, Aston offers four new interior trim environments: Accelerate, Create, Impulse, and Inspire.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Aston Martin provides an impressive number of personalization options for the DBX, especially through its Q customization service. The company's online configurator shows several different appearance packages, and we're partial to Accelerate interior theme, with its mix of leather and faux suede and the Sports Plus seats. On the outside, we'd choose the pretty Minotaur Green paint as well as the 22-inch black-and-bronze Ribbon wheels. We'd also opt for the tow package, the power tailgate, and the Sports Exhaust system that lets us better enjoy the engine's music.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The DBX is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine supplied by Mercedes-AMG. The engine makes 542 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque and pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission, also supplied by Mercedes. While the DBX is fundamentally rear-wheel drive, a center transfer case sends torque to the front axle when slippage is detected at the rear. It also has a limited-slip rear differential and can tow up to 5940 pounds. Adaptive dampers and height-adjustable air springs come standard on the Aston—a boon for off-road adventuring. The DBX we tested rushed to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, which is respectable for a hot SUV, but the Lamborghini Urus and other rivals are notably quicker. The version we drove on England's best roads showcased the engine's lusty soundtrack and the transmission's unobtrusive operation. Thanks to a diverse set of drive modes, its chassis demonstrated a broad range of demeanors, from refined and relaxed to responsive and playful. Despite its short 157-foot stop from 70 mph, the ute suffered from an unresponsive brake pedal.

New 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Review - Ultra Fast Charging Super Car!
Overview
The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a new all-electric compact crossover with advanced technology, futuristic styling, and a versatile interior. Intended as a Hyundai subbrand, the Ioniq moniker also applies to a flood of upcoming EV models, but the 2022 5 has debuted first. It features impressive charging speeds (up to 350 kW) and has an estimated driving range of up to 303 miles. Available with rear- or all-wheel drive, the EV ute makes between 168 and 320 horsepower. Its eco-friendly interior boasts a tech-centric dashboard, reclining front seats with footrests, and generous passenger space.
What's New for 2022?
The Ioniq 5 marks the debut of Hyundai's all-new, all-electric Ioniq subbrand, which the company says will usher in 23 battery-electric vehicles by 2025.
The 2022 Ioniq 5 with the standard-range battery and rear-wheel drive will start just north of $40,o00, but that's before the $7500 federal tax credit or any other incentives. We think the SEL with the 320-hp dual-motor setup (read: all-wheel drive) is the one to get. It comes standard with a hands-free power liftgate, artificial-leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, and more.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Ioniq 5 has an electric-only powertrain that's available in multiple potencies. The standard-range battery paired with a single, rear-mounted electric motor generates 168 horsepower. With the longer-range battery, the rear-drive configuration generates 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which Hyundai says will propel the 5 from zero to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds. The all-wheel-drive version is much more powerful, with 320 horses and a substantial 446 pound-feet, and quicker, too. It's said to catapult to 60 mph in 5.2 ticks. The Ioniq 5 we drove demonstrated its smoothness on a variety of road surfaces, and its wide-for-an-EV tires combined with a low center of gravity made it feel athletic going side to side. We only wish its steering provided more feedback and the suspension was a smidge firmer.

2022 BMW 128ti
Contrary to the expectations of some traditionalists, the world didn't suddenly end when BMW quietly introduced front-wheel-drive models a few years ago. The X1, X2, and 2-series Gran Coupe all ride on the company's UKL platform, shared with bigger Minis, bringing the combination of transversely mounted engines and drivetrains that pull rather than push. While all are offered with the option of xDrive in the U.S., the base "28i" versions are all front-wheel drive.
Given the marketing BMW used to put behind the dynamic purity of rear-wheel drive, it isn't surprising these models' wrong-wheel-drive configuration is barely mentioned—the configurator website features a prominent tab promoting the xDrive upgrade. But in Europe things are different. There, BMW has used the same mechanical package to create the 128ti, a front-drive hot hatch, one that positively celebrates the new driveline configuration.

2022 Nissan Armada SUV Walkaround & Review
Overview
The 2022 Nissan Armada lacks the popularity of its domestic rivals, and it doesn't offer a long-wheelbase model, but savvy shoppers will be surprised by its luxuriousness. The three-row Nissan's independent rear suspension is no longer uncommon in this segment, but its ride is still one of the calmest and smoothest. Its quiet, comfy cabin also contributes to its unexpectedly upscale vibe, even if some elements look a little dated. The fanciest, albeit priciest Platinum trim makes up for this with an interior worthy of a legit luxury ute. Every model boasts a roster of desirable infotainment and active safety features. With a potent 400-hp V-8 under the hood and a well-behaved automatic transmission, the Armada moves with authority and confidence. Unfortunately, the engine suffers from dreadful fuel economy, and the big SUV can wander at highway speeds. Still, the 2022 Armada's charming characteristics offset its imperfections.
What's New for 2022?
After getting a handsome facelift and a handful of new tech features for the previous model year, the 2022 Armada gets the smallest of updates. The only addition is a one-touch function for the power-folding third row, but this new feature is exclusive to the top-of-the-line Platinum trim level.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
We think the SL trim is the best value. In addition to all the desirable standard features it inherits from the base SV model, it comes with a 13-speaker Bose audio system, 20-inch rims, leather interior appointments, a power liftgate, remote start, and a sunroof. The SL also unlocks the optional second-row captain's chairs, which we'd add.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
A powerful 5.6-liter V-8 with a civilized seven-speed automatic transmission is the Armada's only powertrain. The engine makes up to 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel. It pairs with either rear- or all-wheel drive, and every model can tow 8500 pounds. We haven't track-tested an Armada with the extra power, but we have driven one and appreciated its effortless thrust. Despite its large proportions, the Armada drove surprisingly well thanks to its fully independent suspension, but its handling doesn't hold a candle to the nimbler Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon.
Our test vehicle had a smooth and hushed ride even though it rolled on 22-inch wheels (18-inchers are standard). Its soft-riding nature didn't negatively affect our sense of control, but its steering was imprecise and slow to react, which allowed the SUV to wander on the highway like a member of its Spanish namesake. Along with impressive results in our emergency-braking test, the Nissan's brake pedal delivered good feel and consistent feedback.

2022 Chevrolet Traverse
Overview
Chevrolet's handsome minivan-alternative—the 2022 Traverse SUV—has enough capability to negotiate snowy roads and plenty of space to make road trips comfortable for the whole family. A 3.6-liter V-6 provides ample power, and it proved relatively fuel efficient in our testing; front-wheel drive is standard but all-wheel drive is optional. The Traverse is one of the bigger options in the mid-size SUV class and boasts one of the largest cargo areas, outdoing key rivals such as the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, and the Kia Telluride.
What's New for 2022?
Chevrolet has given its three-row Traverse a light refresh for the 2022 model year that includes revised exterior styling and a host of new standard driver-assistance features. Among them are automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlamps. An 8.0-inch display inside the gauge cluster is now an available tech option, and new upholstery designs dress up the interior. This update to Chevy's mid-size, three-row SUV was originally intended for the 2021 model year, but has been delayed to 2022 because of the global Coronavirus pandemic.
The mid-range LT model represents the best value among the Traverse's six-trim lineup as it adds nice-to-haves such as second-row captain's chairs, a power-adjustable driver's seat, SiriusXM satellite radio, fog lamps, heated exterior mirrors, and roof rails. If you’d like something a little fancier without going up to the much more expensive Premier or High Country models, the LT trim offers a Leather package which adds a power-adjustable passenger's seat, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a power rear liftgate, and more.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
A standard 310 horsepower V-6 engine gives the Traverse its legs, and a slick-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission changes gears unobtrusively. The V-6 pulls strongly; a Traverse we tested proved to be on the quicker end of its class. The cabin is so quiet that you need to steal a glance at the tachometer to ensure the engine is running while at a stoplight. Speaking of which, the Traverse features what is perhaps the most seamless automatic stop/start feature we've tested. When parking or maneuvering at low speed, the Traverse feels every bit its size. Pick up the pace, however, and the big Chevy feels smaller than it is—poised, if not overtly athletic. Steering effort is low, but the system is precise and makes aiming the big SUV easy. The Traverse's suspension is tuned for a good balance between handling and ride comfort.

2022 Acura MDX
Overview
Acura is on a tear updating its small lineup of cars and SUVs. Among them is the three-row MDX, whose recent overhaul brings lots of goodies. This SUV takes its handsome styling cues from the compact RDX SUV and TLX sedan, and the cabin boasts luxury materials and features worthy of the Acura's premium badge. The base powertrain for this front-driver consists of a 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 and a 10-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive is available. But select the performance-oriented Type S model and you'll get a turbocharged 355-hp 3.0-liter V-6 and standard all-wheel drive.
What's New for 2022?
Acura redesigned the MDX for 2022, skipping the 2021 model year. The new SUV shares its styling and technology with the recently revamped RDX and TLX models.
As driving enthusiasts, we're most intrigued by the Type S for its performance aspirations, but Acura says that model won't go on sale until late 2021. For buyers looking for a nicely equipped luxury crossover without the sporty flair, we'd recommend the Technology trim, which has niceties such as leather upholstery with contrast stitching, adjustable interior ambient lighting, an ELS Studio stereo system with 12 speakers, and low-speed front and rear automated emergency braking.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The new MDX uses the same 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 as the outgoing model, but the engine is now mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission instead of a nine-speed. Front-wheel drive remains standard with all-wheel drive available as an option. The outgoing 2020 MDX also offered a hybrid powertrain, but so far Acura has not indicated an intention to hybridize the 2022 MDX. The sporty Type S model is powered by a 355-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 and comes standard with all-wheel drive. We haven't driven the Type S yet, but our test drive of an all-wheel drive Advance model with the standard powertrain revealed surprisingly nimble handling and perky acceleration.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale
Overview
Italian sports car icon Ferrari isn't the first brand that comes to mind when thinking about plug-in hybrid powertrains, but the 2022 SF90 Stradale and Spider models offer an electrified setup with 986 horsepower. When we tested one at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, we recorded a zero-to-60-mph time of just 2.0 seconds, which makes it officially the quickest car to 60 mph that we've ever tested. Let's see your Hyundai Ioniq or Toyota Prius Prime plug-ins do that. Not only does the SF90 deliver blistering acceleration and otherworldly handling, it also offers a fairly luxurious cabin lined with fine leather and decked out plenty of creature comforts. If you are one of the lucky few who can afford its half-million-dollar price tag, you'll find this Ferrari is worth it.
What's New for 2022?
Ferrari's plug-in hybrid hyper car rolls into 2022 with no notable changes.
Both models come packed with enough amenities to make either a satisfying pick for shoppers in this price range, but we'd spring for the drop-top Spider variant. If you want to give this Ferrari a more customized appearance, you can select from a host of upholstery choices. There are also a number of different wheel designs, and the list of available upgrades also includes carbon-fiber components, titanium exhaust pipes, a digital rearview mirror, and brake calipers in varying colors.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
With the SF90, power comes from a massive V-8 and three electric motors. The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 generates a mighty 769 horsepower on its own, and the trio of electric motors provide an additional 217 horsepower. In the end, the gas/electric powertrain generates a net output of 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels, making this the first mid-engine Ferrari with all-wheel drive. An eight-speed automatic transmission oversees the proceedings. As you'd expect, all that power under the hood translates into blistering acceleration. Ferrari’s official estimate is that it will rocket from zero to 60 mph in a scant 2.5 seconds; our testing proved that number to be conservative as the SF90 ripped to 60 in just 2.0 seconds—something no production vehicle has ever done before. Different driving modes allow you to tailor the car's handling to suit your preferences. The lineup includes EV Only, Hybrid, Performance, and, last but not least, Qualify—a setting that allows you to fully exploit the car's performance capabilities.

New 2023 BMW iX M60 - Magical Exterior Color Change
BMW used this year's Consumer Electrics Show as the launch point for its electric flagship SUV, headed on sale stateside later this year. The BMW iX M60 will be the performance version of the iX sport utility, bringing 610 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque to the field when it needs to, in Sport Mode, while still offering a generous 532 hp and 749 lb-ft of torque along with dual-motor, all-wheel-drive performance the rest of the time.
The German automaker is keen to stake a claim to this niche before the arrival of even more competitors, with the iX M60 playing the role of Munich's big, electric luxury tank with enough juice to pull off some scary-quick launches: The iX M60 will be able to propel its mass from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds with mostly just a whoosh.
When it comes to another important metric for EVs, the iX M60 will borrow its more domesticated sibling's 111.5-kWh battery—dwarfed by few other EV batteries—while offering an estimated range of 280 miles. This is a preliminary figure, with official EPA numbers to follow closer to the model's arrival on dealership shelves, but it does position the iX M60 roughtly mid-pack against an admittedly small cast of competitors, dominated by the yoke-steered 333-mile Tesla Model X.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 eV

New Audi A8 - Space for progress
Overview
Audi's answer to the Mercedes-Benz S-class is the 2022 A8 sedan. It offers a spacious interior and every conceivable luxury and convenience feature, which helps justify its nearly six-figure starting price. The A8's styling is expertly rendered to look ritzy but restrained, and fans of the smaller A4 and A6 sedans will find the A8 handsome. Its cabin, however, is far more comfortable than those four doors and offers similar space and features as the S-class and the BMW 7-series, the Audi's other natural rival. Massaging seats for both front and rear passengers are available and Audi also includes a host of driver-assists as standard. Drivers looking for more oomph should consider the performance-oriented S8 model, which we review separately.
What's New for 2022?
Audi's flagship sedan receives a styling makeover for 2022 which includes a new grille, re-worked front and rear bumpers, revised exterior lighting elements, and updated wheel designs. An S line exterior appearance package is now available, too, which makes the A8 look a little bit more like the performance-oriented S8 model. Inside, new rear entertainment displays are now optional and Audi has added some new interior trim options to the spec sheet.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The base 55 TFSI comes with a turbocharged V-6 rated at 335 horsepower, and the 60 TFSI has a 453-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine. Both versions use a 48-volt hybrid system. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. The plug-in hybrid 60 TFSI e combines the V-6 with an electric motor and a rear-mounted 14.1-kWh battery pack. The 2021 Audi A8 TFSI e is rated at 443 hp. So far, we've only tested the V-6 55 TFSI version, which sprinted from zero to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds at our test track. Among six-cylinder executive sedans, that's on par with the Mercedes-Benz S450 but a few tenths off the rapid pace of the BMW 740i. The Audi's engine is smooth, but there's no fanfare to its power delivery, and sound-deadening measures are so extensive that it's practically inaudible with the windows up. The A8 offers a very Audi-like blend of athleticism and ride comfort. An adjustable air suspension and driver-adjustable adaptive dampers are standard. Optional with the V-8 is a more advanced active suspension that scans the road ahead for bumps and takes measures to compensate. With the base suspension, the Audi A8 isolates you from road irregularities but can still hammer down a back road when the mood strikes.

2022 Bentley Bentayga S
Overview
Premium SUVs from BMW, Lincoln, Cadillac, and Mercedes-Benz offer plenty of comfort and convenience, but don't serve up luxury like the 2022 Bentley Bentayga. With either a V-8 or W-12 engine under the hood the Bentayga has the muscle for sustained high-speed cross-country touring. And behind its rear seat is a cargo hold with enough square footage for a high-speed shopping spree. The posh cabin is lined with supple, aromatic leather, gorgeous wood- and-metal accents, and every modern infotainment feature buyers expect of a cutting edge motorcar. The Bentayga's class-above intentions—and six-figure price tag—put it into competition with the equally princely Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
What's New for 2022?
A sporty-looking S model joins the range for 2022 that incorporates many of the top-end Speed model's design cues but is powered by the 542-hp V-8 that serves as the Bentayga's base engine. A sport-tuned suspension, 22-inch wheels, and a sport exhaust system give the S model an edge over the base V-8 trim. Elsewhere in the lineup, a set of carbon fiber rims is a new standalone option through the Mulliner personalization program; the plug-in hybrid powertrain will skip the 2022 model year and return for 2023.
We like the V-8 model best. Even though the Speed's powerful W-12 engine puts more pep in this big SUV's step, its price premium over the V-8 is substantial. We'd suggest sticking with the eight-cylinder model and adding some niceties to it, such as the adaptive suspension, the rear-seat entertainment system, and the 20-speaker Naim stereo. And choosing the Touring Specification package will give you a suite of driver-assistance features.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Since the Bentayga's 443-hp hybrid powertrain is on hiatus for the 2022 model year, the 542-hp twin-turbo V-8 is the entry-level engine. The Bentayga Speed ups the ante with a 626-hp W-12. Back in 2017, when the Speed made 600 ponies, this supersmooth powerhouse delivered a 3.6-second result in our 60-mph test. The W-12's power delivery is creamier than the V-8's, and its performance felt more robust during passing maneuvers. Bentley claims that the Bentayga Speed, with a claimed top speed of 190 mph, is the fastest SUV in the world (although the Lamborghini Urus might have something to say about that). Regardless of what's under the hood, all Bentaygas utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission and come standard with all-wheel drive.

2022 BMW iX3 All you need to know
2022 BMW iX3 and X3 facelift design
The changes to the iX3’s exterior are tiny, but they do — according to BMW anyway — give it a few more visual links to its electric brethren, the large iX SUV and the i4 Gran Coupe electric saloon.
Those changes are largely around the grille, which is a little bigger than before (something of a running theme with BMWs of late) and which now has a slim surrounding trim finished in a pearl-effect blue chrome. The inner surfaces of the grille now have a mesh-style pattern, and there’s a neat little BMW i badge too.
The headlights are also new and are 10mm slimmer than before — just as on the internal combustion X3 models. LED lights are standard with BMW’s ultra-bright Laser Lights available as an option.
Further down, the cooling intakes in the bumper — which feature a ten-stage active air flap which can open and close to improve aerodynamic performance — are now larger, while the intakes at the outer edges get a new ‘L’ shape and BMW i blue accents.
The side wing vents have been reshaped a little, and while BMW has been adding blue accents elsewhere, the ones that were featured on the previous iX3’s side skirts have been deleted. Around the back, there’s a new diffuser under the rear bumper, which does get the blue accent line, while the LED brake lights get a new black surround.
2022 BMW iX3 and X3 facelift interior
Inside, the cabin looks much the same as before, and the iX3 runs the same BMW Operating System 7 as before — that allows for over-the-air software updates, includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and comes with a big 12.3-inch screen in the centre of the dash. That can be controlled by the traditional iDrive controller down on the centre console, or you can use it as a touchscreen.

2022 Audi RS e tron GT
The 2022 Audi RS e-tron GT has some big shoes to fill. It's the first all-electric Audi to wear the famous RS nomenclature, which comes with huge expectations. Since the B7 RS4, Audi has consistently been churning out excellent performance variants of its standard range. This car needs to make a statement. Not only does the RS e-tron GT need to prove that the RS brand will live on into the age of electric power, but it must also fend off competition from cars like the Porsche Taycan Turbo, Tesla Model S, and Lucid Air. The RS isn't the fastest of this bunch, which seems shocking when you consider it has up to 637 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of only 3.1 seconds. But it does bring Audi build quality and luxury to the table, not to mention those sleek lines.
2022 Audi RS e-tron GT Changes: What’s the difference vs 2021 Audi RS e-tron GT?
The RS e-tron GT is an all-new model and the first go-faster electric Audi. After playing it safe by launching an EV in the midsize SUV segment, Audi is now making a solid statement about its future. The future will be electric, but it seems as if everything is going to be fine when looking at this A7-sized four-door coupe with 590 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. Because this is an all-new model, Audi could go bonkers with the exterior and interior design. The RS e-tron GT shares multiple components with the Porsche Taycan, right down to the 114.2-inch wheelbase. We don't see that as a bad thing since the Taycan blew us away, but Audi's performance EV does set itself apart in several ways, however.

2022 All Electric F 150 Lightning Ford
Overview
Ford hasn't kept the upcoming F-150 Lightning a secret, evidenced by the company's million-pound towing stunt from 2019. The Lightning shares much of the regular F-150's body and cabin but swaps that truck's gasoline-powered V-6 and V-8 engine options for a pair of electric motors and one of two different battery packs. The Standard-Range battery is said to deliver up to 230 miles per charge and the Extended-Range juice pack is aiming for 300 miles. But by the time the 2022 F-150 Lightning reaches the market, it won't be the only all-electric pickup truck. GMC's Hummer EV SUT is close to its launch, and a rival truck from upstart Rivian may also beat Ford to the punch. Neither of those trucks, however, have the strength of the F-150 name behind them, and the electric version of America's favorite truck will surely be an impressive piece when it goes on sale sometime in spring 2022.
What's New for 2022?
While it uses a name from Ford's performance past, the F-150 Lightning is an all-new model for the Ford truck lineup for the 2022 model year. All-wheel drive is standard and the EV pickup is capable of towing up to 10,000 pounds.
Although Ford has announced a base Pro model with an attractive starting price, it doesn't have as many creature comforts. Ford hasn't released pricing for the more desirable XLT, Lariat, or Platinum trims, but we expect them all to cost more than their gasoline-powered counterparts. The Extended-Range battery pack will also likely add a significant lump sum to the bottom line, but we'll have to wait until closer to the Lightning's on-sale date to know exactly how much.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All F-150 Lightning models come standard with two electric motors and all-wheel drive. With the Standard-Range battery, the motors combine to make 426 horsepower but with the Extended-Range battery the horsepower rating rises to 563; peak torque is an impressive 775 pound-feet with either setup. Performance should be brisk, but we'll have to wait until we can strap our test gear on to find out exactly how quick the new truck will be. Ford has also submitted patents for a removable range extender motor disguised as one of those aftermarket, bed-mounted tool boxes. The motor would kick in to recharge the battery in the event there's no charging station nearby. So far we haven't seen the real-life version of such a concept, but it could join the F-150 Lightning at launch as an add-on option.

New Land Rover DEFENDER – Adventure
The 2022 Land Rover Defender might look reminiscent of the 1950s original, but in reality it is a completely modern, high-tech off-roader with unique curb appeal. A trio of engines is offered—a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbo-and-supercharged six-cylinder, and a supercharged V-8—and all come standard with four-wheel drive. The Defender can be had in two-door 90 and four-door 110 body styles, and advanced-duty off-roading equipment is available on all models, including an adjustable air suspension and locking differentials. There aren't many SUVs that are as capable as the Defender, and they mostly come from Land Rover's lineup. Some may consider the Jeep Wrangler a cheaper alternative, but the Defender has it beat when it comes to on-road refinement and available luxury appointments.
Land Rover is introducing a V-8 engine into the Defender lineup for 2022: the 518-hp Supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 that's found in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. The V-8 will be available on both the two-door 90 and four-door 110 models; a high-end Carpathian Edition model will also sport the V-8 engine. The package enhances the Defender with Carpathian Gray exterior paint with a black-painted roof and tailgate, black-painted tow hooks, Xenon Blue brake calipers, and special Carpathian Edition badging. A new XS trim is available on 110 models and bundles a host of luxury and convenience features together including heated-and-cooled front seats, leather-and-cloth upholstery, three-zone automatic climate control, an adjustable air suspension, and adaptive cruise control. Land Rover is also introducing a new, optional 11.4-inch infotainment display this year and will offer even more accessory exterior packages for customization. An even larger, three-row Defender 130 model is on the horizon, but we aren't sure when that SUV may debut. The Trophy Edition model also joins the lineup this year, but only 220 examples will be available and they all come with a complimentary entry to a Land Rover off-road competition in North Carolina that will take place in fall 2021.

Maserati MC20 Creating the First of its Kind
Overview
Maserati has been teasing us with the new MC20 mid-engine sports car for some time now, and we've finally driven this sweet little cannoli and sampled its novel 621-hp twin-turbo V-6. The MC20 is offered as a two-seater coupe with a minimalist cabin that's focused on the driver; a convertible is expected to join the lineup later and eventually an electric MC20 will reach production too. A collaboration with motorsport engineering company Dallara has resulted in a carbon-fiber structure with aluminum subframes for the suspension and powertrain. This construction minimizes weight, which sets the MC20 up for performance-related success.
What's New for 2022?
The MC20 is an all-new model for the Maserati lineup, and the "MC" in its name refers to Maserati Corse—a signal that the brand will soon re-enter racing events with a track-only variant of the car.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Maserati is using the MC20 as an opportunity to launch an all-new twin-turbocharged V-6 engine that pumps out 630 hp. Called Nettuno, the new engine utilizes a unique twin-combustion system borrowed from Formula 1 race cars and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Maserati claims a zero-to-62-mph time of less than three seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph. In addition to the gasoline-powered model, Maserati also says an all-electric variant of the MC20 with all-wheel drive will hit the market in short order and will be the Italian luxury brand's first foray into electrification. The company hasn't released any details about the battery or electric motors yet, but we expect to hear more about the EV model soon. After our brief test drive of the gasoline-powered MC20, we came away impressed with the powertrain's throttle response and linear power delivery. It's As expected, the MC20 is blisteringly quick and handling is race-car sharp. Despite the MC20's otherworldly performance, its ride is refined and with the adaptive suspension in its most comfortable mode it soaks up bumps well enough to consider driving it daily or taking on a road trip.
