🎵 Thunder - Across The Nation - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Thunder - Across The Nation - New Music - REACTION
Thunder were an English hard rock band, who originally formed in 1989 when Terraplane broke up, leaving lead singer Danny Bowes and guitarist/main songwriter Luke Morley to form a new band, namely Thunder. Retaining drummer Gary James (popularly known as 'Harry' James) from Terraplane, they completed the line-up with bassist Mark 'Snake' Luckhurst and guitarist/keyboard player Ben Matthews.
Though the band's main area of support has remained their homeland of the UK, the band also enjoy significant success in Japan.
Thunder were signed with EMI after performing a demo audition in 1989, and soon began recording their first album Backstreet Symphony. With their producer, Andy Taylor (of Duran Duran) they created many blues-rock and atmospheric ballads, steering away from the melodic power pop of their previous band.
The album was a huge success in the UK, helped by a prestigious appearance at the 1990 Monsters of Rock festival at Donington Park. Their performance at this event was almost universally praised and elevated them to new levels of popularity.

🎵 Greta Van Fleet - Highway Tune - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Greta Van Fleet - Highway Tune - New Music - REACTION
Guitarist Jake Kiszka: I started playing guitar around 3 years old or something, so anything that I listened to as foundational was guitar-centric. I was always drawn toward that instrument. There is something to be said about us as a band, that our dominant influence as a unit is blues. It's kind of where we all came from.
So, a lot of the guys that I learned guitar from stemmed from my first acoustic and were people like Lightnin’ Hopkins, Elmore James, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Son House, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, and that list goes on. Jimmy Page will cite these very same influences for Led Zeppelin.
GVF is also channelling the likes of Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Queen, Jimi Hendrix and others, pretty damn great influences.

🎵 The Band Of Heathens - Walls (Tom Petty cover) - New Rock and Roll - REACTION
🎵 The Band Of Heathens - Walls (Tom Petty cover) - New Rock and Roll - REACTION
The Band of Heathens is an American rock and roll band from Austin, Texas. The band was originally formed by Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist in 2005.
Austin, Texas roots rockers the Band of Heathens play music that filters contemporary singer/songwriter and alt-country flavours through the guiding influence of dusty 1970s soft rock. Founded by three songwriters, the group specializes in tales with a distinct Southern flavour and characters with a taste for misadventure, buoyed by tasteful arrangements and harmonies.
Formed in Austin, the Band of Heathens became a group totally by accident. Songwriters Colin Brooks, Gordy Quist, and Ed Jurdi were all doing regular sets at Momo's in Austin when they began sitting in with each other, eventually making the whole thing one big show that they called the Good Time Supper Club, which was essentially three singer/songwriters in the round backed by a solid rhythm section of John Chipman on drums and Seth Whitney on bass. What started out as a spontaneous side project soon became a full-fledged rock & roll band.

🎵 Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - Love Don't - New Music - REACTION
What a great sound! The Night Sweats behind Nathaniel is a formidable live unit with a reputation for stage-quaking shows.
Their rowdy retro sound is deeply influenced by vintage soul, R&B, and gospel traditions, Van Morrison, and the Band.
Based in Denver, Colorado, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats mix rock & roll swagger with classic soul, R&B, and country influences. Frontman Rateliff first won acclaim for his quieter, more introspective folk-based albums, but his career surged after the Night Sweats' gritty 2015 debut became a hit across North America. and Europe. Signed to the legendary Stax label, the band spent the decade's second half enjoying a high-profile reputation, releasing a live album and studio follow-up before Rateliff returned to solo work with the reflective 2020 album And It's Still Alright. The Future, his dynamic third album with the Night Sweats, arrived in November 2021.

ANC4 (Arvidson & Nilsson Combo Four) is a PowerPop band from Gothenburg (Sweden) that released their first LP/CD & digital in October 2019. ANC4 music brings new life into the golden era of the sixties with 12-string guitar, Rickenbackers, strong melodies and sweet harmonies.
In 2018 Roger Arvidson (Arvidson & Butterflies, Sonic Walthers et al) teams up with Tomas Nilsson (The Mop Tops, Flying Cow et al) to give us a diverse collection of bright, hummable pop tunes drawing on a variety of influences from The Beatles to The Byrds.
Later that year did the drummer Niclas Österberg (Moa Blücher Bluesband, The Frontline Band et al) and bass player Janne Borgh (Strindbergs, The Moderns et al) join the musically duo and the ANC4 was born.

These are my reactions and reviews from the NEW wave of 60s - 70s style music from artists of the past, and new 60s - 70s style artists from the year 2000 to the now. Great new music I think is cool and far out and has groove, and everyone might like.
And who knows maybe a surprise or three with some great (IMO) the 60s - 70s style music from before Y2K ;)

🎵 Dennis DeYoung - This Time Next Year - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Dennis DeYoung - This Time Next Year - New Music - REACTION
Dennis DeYoung (born February 18, 1947) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He is a founding member of the rock band Tradewinds, which became TW4, which became Styx as primary lead vocalist and keyboardist, a tenure that lasted from 1972 until May 1999.
DeYoung has been credited as the writer of more Styx songs than any other Styx member. He was also the band's most successful writer, penning seven of the band's eight Billboard top 10 singles as well as a solo top 10 single.
Within Styx, DeYoung acted as lead vocalist, keyboardist, accordion player, producer and songwriter. From the start of Styx's commercial success with the 1973 DeYoung-penned single "Lady", DeYoung became the creative force behind most of the band's hit songs. DeYoung wrote and sang lead on seven of the band's eight top 10 Billboard Hot 100-ranked hits during this period, with Tommy Shaw's "Too Much Time on My Hands" (No. 9) being the sole exception. The seven DeYoung penned-and-performed top 10 Billboard hits, in order of their peak chart placement, are:
"Babe", is the band's only Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit to date. Also, hit No. 1 on the Radio and Records chart.
"Mr. Roboto" (No. 3 Billboard, No. 3 R & R)
"Show Me the Way" (No. 3 Billboard, No. 7 R & R)
"The Best of Times" (No. 3 and No. 1 R & R)
"Don't Let It End" (No. 6 Billboard, No. 3 R & R)
"Lady", the band's 1973 breakthrough hit (No. 6 in March 1975 Billboard and No. 7 R & R)
"Come Sail Away" (No. 8 Billboard, No. 9 R & R)
On May 22, 2020, DeYoung released 26 East, Vol. 1, his seventh solo studio album and first in over a decade. The title comes from the real-life address in Chicago where DeYoung grew up in. The last song on the record, "To the Good Old Days", features Julian Lennon.
26 East, Vol. 2 was released on June 11, 2021, and is intended to be DeYoung's final album. The title comes from the address of the home DeYoung grew up in on the South Side of Chicago, where he formed the nucleus of what would become Styx.
The album features guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave on a track co-written with Jim Peterik of The Ides of March, formerly of Survivor and 38 Special fame.

🎵 Styx - The Same Stardust - New Music - REACTION
Styx is an American rock band from Chicago that formed in 1972 and is best known for melding hard rock guitar balanced with acoustic guitar, synthesizers mixed with acoustic piano, upbeat tracks with power ballads, and incorporating elements of international musical theatre. The band established itself with a progressive rock sound in the 1970s and began to incorporate pop rock and soft rock elements in the 1980s.
Beginning with Styx in 1972, the band usually released an album every year throughout the 1970s. Styx II (1973) had the sleeper hit "Lady", a power ballad which reached No. 6 in the US, helping the album make the top 20. "Lady" was also a top 20 hit in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Equinox (1975) and Crystal Ball (1976) reached the US top 70 with the first featuring "Lorelei", a No. 6 hit in Canada, while the second marked the addition of Tommy Shaw to the band.

🎵 Blue Rodeo - When You Were Wild - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Blue Rodeo - When You Were Wild - New Music - REACTION
One of Canada's greatest most beloved bands.
Blue Rodeo is a Canadian country rock band formed in 1984 in Toronto, Ontario. They have released 16 full-length studio albums, four live recordings, one greatest hits album, and two video/DVDs, along with multiple solo albums, side projects, and collaborations.
High school friends Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor began playing music professionally together after completing university. They put together several bands without commercial success in the late 1970s, releasing a single as Hi-Fis in 1980.
Cuddy and Keelor moved to New York City in the early 1980s to further their music careers. There they met keyboardist and fellow Canadian Bob Wiseman, who was at that time working as a producer. Upon returning to Toronto in the summer of 1984, the trio decided to form a band. The name "Blue Rodeo" had already been chosen for the new group when they met former David Wilcox drummer Cleave Anderson and asked him to join.
Anderson in turn recommended his former bandmate in The Sharks, bassist Bazil Donovan, and the new band's lineup was essentially set. In 1985 Blue Rodeo played their first show together at The Rivoli in Toronto; one week later, they performed at Handsome Ned's "Honky Tonk Heart.
The band quickly earned a following in Toronto and was subsequently signed to Canadian independent record label Risque Disque. They entered the studio in 1986 with Rush producer Terry Brown and recorded several songs that would comprise Blue Rodeo's debut album, Outskirts.
Released in March 1987, Outskirts met with moderate success in Canada, until "Try" was released as a single in October of that year. The single was an immediate hit, going to number one on the RPM Country Tracks chart and number six on the RPM Top Singles chart, establishing Blue Rodeo as one of Canada's top new bands and carrying Outskirts to 4× Platinum status in sales.

🎵 GA-20 - You Know I'm Right - New Music - REACTION
GA-20 is an American blues band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band is named after the guitar amplifier manufactured by Gibson from 1950 to 1961. They primarily play Chicago blues.
Together with fellow classic blues, R&B and early rock and roll lover Pat Faherty, Matthew Stubbs formed GA-20 in early 2018. Stubbs had already garnered much praise playing guitar for Charlie Musselwhite. He sought to put a new project together to do blues gigs aside from his Psych-Rock group The Antiguas. Faherty had spent several years studying blues guitar and teamed up with Stubbs to form a new group.
Early performances by the band had a rotating group of musicians with Faherty and Stubbs as the core members. Some early performances used different drummers and various other musicians including Chris Anzelone on drums and Matt Prozialeck on harmonica, sometimes playing as a four-piece band.
They adopted the name GA-20 in early 2018. The group became a trio in 2018 consisting of two guitars and drums. About a year after their formation, they scored a deal with Karma Chief Records. The group has been described as a trio that plays stripped-down ’50s/’60s-style Chicago blues with a lot of distortion and no bass

🎵 AC/DC - Witch's Spell - New Music - REACTION
🎵 AC/DC - Witch's Spell - New Music - REACTION
AC/DC is an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Their music has been variously described as hard rock, blues rock, and heavy metal, but the band themselves call it simply "rock and roll".
AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, 1975's High Voltage. Membership subsequently stabilized around the Young brothers, singer Bon Scott, drummer Phil Rudd, and bassist Mark Evans. Evans was fired from the band in 1977 and replaced by Cliff Williams, who has appeared on every AC/DC album since 1978's Powerage.
In February 1980, about seven months after the release of their breakthrough album Highway to Hell, Scott died of acute alcohol poisoning after a night of heavy drinking. The group considered disbanding but elected to stay together, bringing in longtime Geordie vocalist Brian Johnson as Scott's replacement.
Later that year, the band released their first album with Johnson, Back in Black, which was dedicated to Scott's memory. The album launched AC/DC to new heights of success and became one of the best-selling albums of all time.
AC/DC have sold more than 200 million records worldwide, including 75 million albums in the United States, making them the ninth-highest-selling artist in the United States and the 16th-best-selling artist worldwide. Back in Black has sold an estimated 50 million units worldwide, making it the second-highest-selling album by any artist, and the highest-selling album by any band.
The album has sold 22 million units in the US, where it is the sixth-highest-selling album of all time. AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" and was named the seventh "Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time" by MTV. In 2004, AC/DC ranked No. 72 on the Rolling Stone list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".
Producer Rick Rubin, who wrote an essay on the band for the Rolling Stone list, referred to AC/DC as "the greatest rock and roll band of all time". In 2010, VH1 ranked AC/DC number 23 in its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".

🎵 Elvis Costello and The Imposters - Magnificent Hurt - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Elvis Costello and The Imposters - Magnificent Hurt - New Music - REACTION
Declan Patrick MacManus OBE (born 25 August 1954), known professionally as Elvis Costello, is an English singer-songwriter and record producer. He has won multiple awards in his career, including Grammy Awards in 1999 and 2020, and has twice been nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Male Artist. In 2003, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Costello number 80 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
Costello began his career as part of London's pub rock scene in the early 1970s and later became associated with the first wave of the British punk and new wave movement that emerged in the mid-to-late 1970s. His critically acclaimed debut album My Aim Is True was released in 1977.
Shortly after recording it, he formed the Attractions as his backing band. His second album This Year's Model was released in 1978 and was ranked number 11 by Rolling Stone on its list of the best albums from 1967 to 1987. His third album Armed Forces was released in 1979 and features his highest-charting single, "Oliver's Army" (number 2 in the UK). His first three albums all appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Costello and the Attractions toured and recorded together for the better part of a decade, though differences between them caused a split by 1986. Much of Costello's work since has been as a solo artist, though reunions with members of the Attractions have been credited to the group over the years.
Costello's lyrics employ a wide vocabulary and frequent wordplay. His music has drawn on many diverse genres; one critic described him as a "pop encyclopedia", able to "reinvent the past in his own image". Since 2002, his touring band (featuring a rotating cast of musicians) has been known as The Imposters.
Costello has co-written several original songs for films, including "God Give Me Strength" from Grace of My Heart (1996, with Burt Bacharach) and "The Scarlet Tide" from Cold Mountain (2003, with T-Bone Burnett). For the latter, Elvis was nominated (along with Burnett) for the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

🎵 Jethro Tull - Sad City Sisters - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Jethro Tull - Sad City Sisters - New Music - REACTION
Jethro Tull is a British rock band formed in Blackpool, England, in 1967. Initially playing blues rock and jazz fusion, the band soon incorporated elements of English folk, hard rock, and classical music, forging a signature progressive rock sound. The group’s bandleader, founder, primary composer and only constant member is Ian Anderson, a multi-instrumentalist who mainly plays flute and acoustic guitar, and is also the lead vocalist.
The group has featured a revolving door of musicians throughout the decades, including significant contributors such as electric guitarist Martin Barre (the longest-serving member besides Anderson), keyboardists John Evan, Dee Palmer, Peter-John Vettese and Andrew Giddings, drummers Clive Bunker, Barrie "Barriemore" Barlow and Doane Perry, and bassists Glenn Cornick, Jeffrey Hammond, John Glascock, Dave Pegg and Jonathan Noyce.
The band released their debut album This Was in 1968. After a lineup change that saw original guitarist Mick Abrahams replaced by Martin Barre, the band released the folk-tinged second album Stand Up (1969). Stand Up saw the band achieve their first commercial success, reaching No. 1 in the UK, followed by regular tours of the UK and the US.
Their musical style shifted in the direction of progressive rock with the albums Aqualung (1971), Thick as a Brick (1972) and A Passion Play (1973), and shifted again to contemporary folk-rock with Songs from the Wood (1977), Heavy Horses (1978) and Stormwatch (1979). In the early 1980s, the band underwent a major lineup change and shifted towards electronic rock, with the albums A (1980), The Broadsword and the Beast (1982) and Under Wraps (1984).
Jethro Tull has sold an estimated 60 million albums worldwide, with 11 gold and five platinum albums among them.[5] They have been described by Rolling Stone as "one of the most commercially successful and eccentric progressive rock bands".
The last works as a group to contain new material prior to their hiatus were J-Tull Dot Com (1999) and a Christmas album in 2003, though the band continued to tour until 2011. Both Anderson and Barre have continued to record and tour as solo artists, with Anderson saying in 2014 that Jethro Tull "came more or less to an end".
The current group—now billed as "Ian Anderson and the Jethro Tull band"—includes musicians who were part of Jethro Tull during the last years of its initial run as well as newer musicians associated with Anderson's solo band, however without Barre's involvement.
Jethro Tull released The Zealot Gene, their first studio album in 19 years (and their first one to consist of original, new material in 23 years), on 28 January 2022

🎵 Gov't Mule - Hole In My Soul - New Music - REACTION
Gov't Mule (pronounced Government Mule) is an American Southern rock jam band, formed in 1994 as a side project of the Allman Brothers Band by guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody. Fans often refer to Gov't Mule simply as Mule.
The band released their debut album, Gov't Mule, in 1995, and has since released an additional nine studio albums, plus numerous EPs and live releases. Gov't Mule has become a staple act at music festivals across North America, with both its members and frequent guests from other notable bands adding various funk and blues rock elements to the band's sound.
"Gov't Mule is a rock 'n' roll band, but we're very influenced by jazz and blues and soul music. That's the way it was in the late '60s and early '70s," he added.
"FM radio would play all that music under the heading of rock 'n' roll."

🎵 Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers - The Trip To Pirates Cove - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers - The Trip To Pirates Cove - New Music - REACTION
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida. Formed in 1976, the band originally comprised Tom Petty (lead singer, guitar), Mike Campbell (lead guitarist), Ron Blair (bass guitar), Stan Lynch (drums), and Benmont Tench (keyboards).
In 1981, Blair, weary of the touring lifestyle, departed the band. His replacement, Howie Epstein, stayed with the band for the next two decades. In 1991, Scott Thurston joined the band as a multi-instrumentalist—mostly on rhythm guitar and second keyboards. In 1994, Steve Ferrone replaced Lynch on drums. Blair returned to the Heartbreakers in 2002, the year before Epstein's death.
The band had a long string of hit singles including "Breakdown", "American Girl", "Refugee", "The Waiting", "Learning to Fly", and "Mary Jane's Last Dance", among many others, that stretched over several decades of work.
The band's music was characterized as both Southern rock and heartland rock, cited alongside artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, and John Mellencamp as progenitors of that genre that arose in the late 1970s and 1980s.
While the heartland rock movement waned in the 1990s, the band remained active and popular, touring regularly until Petty's death in 2017, after which the Heartbreakers disbanded. Their final studio album, Hypnotic Eye, was released in 2014.
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, their first year of eligibility. Although most of their material was produced and performed under the name "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers", Petty released three solo albums, the most successful of which was Full Moon Fever (1989). In these releases, some members of the band contributed as collaborators, producing and performing as studio musicians.

🎵 Shawn James - War (cover) - New Music - REACTION
🎵 Shawn James - War (cover) - New Music - REACTION
If Godzilla could sing he would sound like Shawn.
Shawn James (born September 23, 1986) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He performs both solo and with his backing band, The Shapeshifters.
James started his career working as a sound engineer at music studios in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2012, he moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to pursue his own career as a musician. In the beginning, he busked around downtown Fayetteville. From there, he started playing in local venues and recording his own songs in a bedroom studio. Later in 2012, he released his first studio album, Shadows.
In 2013, he began working with his backing band, The Shapeshifters. He has since released three more solo albums, a live album, and five albums with The Shapeshifters. He also maintains his own record company, Shawn James Music. He achieved some notability in October 2015 when his cover of A. A. Bondy's "American Hearts", filmed in a wolf sanctuary, went viral after being posted on Reddit.
In December 2016, James had his biggest breakthrough when his 2012 song "Through the Valley" was covered by the character of Ellie in the reveal trailer for the 2020 video game The Last of Us Part II. This led to the song topping Spotify's viral chart in the UK, eventually garnering over 60 million streams across Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. On June 5, 2020, he released a re-recorded version of the song in the run-up to the game's release two weeks later.
The day before the game's release, a cover of the song by Australian musician Tash Sultana debuted on PlayStation Australia's YouTube channel, accompanied by a Last of Us Part II-themed music video. James' original recording of the song can briefly be heard playing on Ellie's headphones during the game's opening sequence.
James' music has also been featured on Discovery Channel's reality show Yukon Men,[15] the CBS legal drama series Reckless, and the Showtime comedy-drama series Shameless. He currently has a publishing deal with Raleigh Music Group and signed to Parts + Labor Records in 2018.

🎵 Whitesnake - All In The Name Of Love (re-mix) - New Music - Reaction
🎵 Whitesnake - All In The Name Of Love (re-mix) - New Music - Reaction
Whitesnake is a hard rock band formed in London in 1978. The group was originally put together as the backing band for singer David Coverdale, who had recently left Deep Purple. Though the band quickly developed into their own entity, Coverdale is the only constant member throughout its history.
Whitesnake enjoyed much success in the UK, Europe and Japan through their early years. Their albums Ready an' Willing, Come an' Get It and Saints & Sinners all reached the top ten on the UK Albums Chart. By the mid-1980s, however, Coverdale had set his sights on breaking through in North America, where Whitesnake remained largely unknown.
With the backing of American label Geffen Records, Whitesnake released their eponymous album in 1987, which became their biggest success to date, selling over eight million copies in the US and spawning the hit singles "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love". Whitesnake also adopted a more contemporary look, akin to the Los Angeles glam metal scene. After releasing Slip of the Tongue in 1989, Coverdale decided to put Whitesnake on hold to take a break from the music industry.
Aside from a few short-lived reunions in the 1990s, Whitesnake remained mostly inactive until 2003, when Coverdale put together a new line-up to celebrate the band's 25th anniversary. Since then Whitesnake has released four more studio albums and toured extensively around the world.
Whitesnake's early sound has been characterized by critics as blues-rock, but by the mid-1980s the band slowly began moving toward a more commercially accessible hard rock style. Topics such as love and sex are common in Whitesnake's lyrics, which have been criticized for their excessive use of sexual innuendos and double entendres. Whitesnake has been nominated for several awards during their career, including Best British Group at the 1988 Brit Awards.
They have also been featured on lists of the greatest hard rock bands of all time by several media outlets, while their songs and albums have appeared on many "best of" lists by outlets, such as VH1 and Rolling Stone.

🎵 Tom Jones - Not Dark Yet (Dylan cover) - New Music - REACTION
Sir Thomas Jones Woodward OBE (born 7 June 1940), known professionally as Tom Jones, is a Welsh singer. His career began with a string of top-ten hits in the mid-1960s. He has toured regularly, with appearances in Las Vegas (1967–2011). Jones's voice has been described by AllMusic as a "full-throated, robust baritone".
His performing range has included pop, R&B, show tunes, country, dance, soul and gospel. In 2008, the New York Times called Jones a musical "shapeshifter", who could "slide from soulful rasp to pop croon, with a voice as husky as it was pretty".
Jones has sold over 100 million records, with 36 Top 40 hits in the UK and 19 in the US, including "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", the theme song for the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball, "Green, Green Grass of Home", "Delilah", "She's a Lady", "Kiss" and "Sex Bomb".
