ISOPHO Heated Jacket Review
Heated Jacket (Amazon): https://geni.us/LOBi63m
INIU 20000 mAh Battery pack (Amazon): https://geni.us/RpBsnaH
This heated jacket and battery pack is a great combination as it offers great performance at a sensible price.
The jacket is very well made and even without the heating pads being activated is windproof and relatively warm.
With the heat pads active it is extremely comfortable and it is a very good fit for me. I'm approx. 5'10" tall and around 13.5 stone and the Large size certainly fits well. Often the 'Asian' sizes are smaller but this is clearly sized for a UK market.
Hopefully you found this review useful and if so check out the Amazon link and give my review there a 'helpful' vote.

Greenhouse and Growing Towers Update
This is an update for my greenhouse project to show how the tomatoes, chillis and other plants are doing.
As mentioned in the video here are the links to the things I was talking about:
5cm (2") perforated pots: https://ebay.us/VixC11
Clip on grow lights: https://ebay.us/CBOyPg
USB 4-way splitter: https://geni.us/wmOJ
Grow light tubes: https://ebay.us/VUc4w7
Everything in here is doing very well but the growing towers are taking some getting used to. There is so little information online about how to grow various plants in vertical towers that it's proving quite difficult to get it right ......but I'm getting there.
I have enough equipment left to make some horizontal growing tubes in a kind of NFT type set up so that will be a project I'll do later in the year when the peppers and chilli plants have finished cropping.
As this is my first full year growing anything I will be making mistakes so please don't take anything I say as gospel.
Thanks for watching.
Happy Gardening,
Richard

Testing the Food Dehydrator
The unit I bought has increased in price since my purchase but can be found here: https://ebay.us/Q5e11d
This is the first test for my new food dehydrator / food drier and I used wild strawberries as test subjects.
They were dried at 60 degrees C ( 140 Fahrenheit) for approx. 7 hours and turned out perfect.
I will keep testing the drying of various fruit and vegetables and let you know how I get on.
Thanks for watching.

Growing Vegetables in Pots
I love these pots and have a loads of them from 30 litres up to 45 litres for growing vegetables.
Although I grow in raised beds that limits a particular area to being used for months on end waiting for a crop to grow whereas the pots allow me to move the various plants around the garden to cater to their needs of warmth, shelter and rainfall.
I got mine from Oakland Gardens on Ebay here: https://ebay.us/zZo2jG but they are also available in Amazon at a similar price here: https://geni.us/jaA4S
Amazon prices tend to fluctuate so apologies if the price is over £25 for 5 when you're reading this.
If you want a great video tutorial showing how to plant the tubs with potatoes then this is it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLna4I_ekP0&t=51s
Thanks to Tony from Simplify Gardening for making that video....it's certainly better than what I would produce.
Thanks for watching.

Why I Love Wild Strawberries / Alpine Strawberries
Wild strawberries / Alpine strawberries are amazing - they grow anywhere, they taste great and they produce fruit way longer than cultivated varieties.
Next season I will be planting them everywhere I currently have cultivated types of strawberries.
If you can't find any in the wild or don't want to dig up any from the wild people sell the plants online: https://ebay.us/Fjovzv
.......and you can plant them any time of the year.
Also known as Alpine Strawberry and Woodland Strawberry.

Expanding Garden Hose Review
Expanding Hose (Amazon): https://geni.us/ChvqK
Time stamps below.
I'm really impressed with this expanding garden hose as it offers the solution to a space problem I had in my greenhouse.
The hose takes up very little space until it is pressurized and then it expands to approximately 3x the length which allows me to water my lower vegetable garden but in hindsight I should have gone for the 100' / 30m version as it wasn't much more money and would give me twice the length.

Pond Filter Update July 2021
This is a quick update to show the planted pots in the filter.
Each pot is 30 litres and is filled with Hydroton AKA Clay Pebbles and is planted with Purple Loosestrife and Pendulous Sedge which will produce plenty of roots which will eventually hang into the water.
That will support invertebrates which will eat organic matter from the water and will wash through back into the pond to feed the fish.
The pots are available in different sizes and can be found here: on Ebay https://ebay.us/zZo2jG and they are also available in Amazon at a similar price: https://geni.us/jaA4S

The price has gone insane since I bought mine in early 2020....I paid around £90 then. Next year it will probably be over £200 if the hyper-inflation continues.
Greenhouse was built by Sekura Windows from Newcastle: https://www.sekurawindows.co.uk/
The lights used in the towers system are 6500K / 2200lm daylight tubes and are only 20W each so a combined total of 80W per system will be cheap to run - mine basically cost nothing to run since they are powered by the 12.4kW solar system. They can be found here: https://geni.us/7AApcMP
I've go some red/blue grow lights to fit in the Winter for when I switch the plant species to tomatoes (red light is better for fruiting plants) and I will show them in a future video. They can be found here: https://ebay.us/VUc4w7 and here: https://geni.us/wws9c0
The tank used for water storage: https://ebay.us/lI9yhH
The whole system can be easily stripped down for relocation if necessary.
Simplify Gardening - a proper expert gardening channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/knightreplica
Most of the materials used to create the gardens and growing systems have gone way up in price since I bought them as I got most of the parts together in late 2019 early 2020 before the agendas plaguing our World kicked off. There are alternatives at a lower price for sure but the products listed are what I used.
I saved up over a long time to be able to buy the necessary parts to create the food production facilities and what happened in early 2020 was the kick I needed to make it happen. Millions of others have done the same and it is excellent to see people taking charge of their own future.

Episode 5 - Greenhouse and Hydroponic Towers - Project Update
In this video we will take a look at the greenhouse which is more like a giant propagator....
It was built by Sekura Windows from Newcastle: https://www.sekurawindows.co.uk/
The vast majority of the food I'm growing has been from seed and I'm going for heritage varieties so I can keep harvesting seed to grow new crops the following year.
Toward the end of the year I will be starting to grow cold climate varieties of tomatoes, lettuce etc. which I've sourced from Eastern Europe, Russia, Canada and Alaska as I would like to grow food all year at minimal cost and maximum yield.
I will do a specific video on the growing towers as I can imagine that many viewers will be interested to gain more information on how they were made. This is the sort of system which has a tiny footprint but a huge potential to produce food very cheaply.
The lights used in the towers system are 6500K / 2200lm daylight tubes and are only 20W each so a combined total of 80W per system will be cheap to run - mine basically cost nothing to run since they are powered by the 12.4kW solar system. They can be found here: https://geni.us/7AApcMP

Episode 4 - Vegetable Garden #2 - Project Update
In this video we will take a look at the second part of the vegetable garden.
It's the bigger of the two vegetable gardens and has three large raised beds approximately 8'6" x 8'6" with a few smaller beds too - all made of hardwood railway sleepers. None of those fake modern softwood 'sleepers' (which don't last 5 minutes) here.
They may be mega-heavy but the proper sleepers are there to stay. When I'm an old man I don't want to be fannying about rebuilding anything.....

Episode 2 - Off Grid Solar System - Project Update
Yeeeesss - being self sufficient for power is awesome as the power company can't turn my power off during an 'emergency'.
If you go for a 'smart meter' the power company can leave you without power wherever they please or drain the batteries of your off-grid solar system.
Therefore...no smart meter here.....
It's a hell of an outlay to get a proper off-grid solar system (as there are NO government grants available now and the feed in tariff is currently £0.05 per unit) but I had to take action to prevent ourselves and my business being affected by the ramping up of 'environmental taxes' which is coming very soon.
Our governments are paying people who want to work to stay at home and taxing those who go to work harder to pay those being paid to stay at home..........Is there any world in which that makes sense?
What does make sense is being able to provide electricity and food - hence this series of videos showing the various parts of my garden working together toward that goal.
The solar system was installed by Sustainable Energy Engineering and this is their website: http://www.susenergy.co.uk/
(I may have made a balls of the company name in the video....my memory isn't the best)

Episode 1 - Pond and Filter - Project Update
This is a short video to show what has gone on with the huge pond filter in 2020 / 2021.
Originally the filter was on the Northern side of the pond but that was totally the wrong place to have it.
When cleaning the filters out I had to drag a long length of pipe from one end of the garden to the other in order to drain the silt from the filter chambers and it was all being wasted......no good.
Therefore the whole filter was all moved to the South side of the pond and all the drains were linked to the new vegetable gardens.
Now the gardens are watered with the nutritious water from the filters and the plants are growing madly.
The vegetable gardens are featured in parts 3 & 4 of this series.
With the way the world is heading being self sufficient for power, having a supplemented organic diet and learning the skills to harvest and grow food will be the new currency.

I bought my Ka-Bar Backpack Kaster on offer from 'Amazon Global Shipping' in 2019 but I haven't seen them on offer since. I would usually post an Ebay link but there doesn't seem to be any available there in the UK.
The Ka-Bar Backpack Kaster is truly the best way to pack a fishing kit into a backpack or even a pocket - I love it and it is an invaluable part of all my various day / bug out packs.
Basically if you're building a bug out / survival pack you need one of these.

Heated Bodywarmer Review - Ejoy Electric Heated Jacket Review
Heated Jacket (Amazon): https://geni.us/ucVIHMD
Power Bank (Amazon): https://geni.us/5CAV
*Above links are associate links and if you buy through the links Jeff Bezos may throw some pennies my way to help this Northern Monkey buy more outdoor gear and make more review videos for the channel*
This heated bodywarmer is so much better than my old one - it is extremely comfortable, warm and very well made.
As I am approx. 5'10" I went for the XL size to wear over a thin jumper / fleece and it is a perfect fit for me - a Large definitely would have been too small.
The quality of construction is excellent throughout and no stitching was misaligned or loose anywhere on the garment I received. It also has a self-sealing type of zip which is a welcome feature as those normally would be found on quite expensive waterproof jackets and trousers.
My preferred method of wearing / layering is to go for a thin base layer under a thin woolen jumper (or fleece) followed by the heated bodywarmer followed by a top shell of a Fjallraven Anorak No.8 (smock) and that combo works extremely well in cold weather regardless of the level of activity or lack thereof.
Even without the heat pads being active it offers decent insulation over a jumper on cold days but when it is worn under an outdoor coat and the heat pad are active the heat is very satisfying.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has a hobby which involves sitting or standing outdoors in cold weather (e.g. fishing, photography, shooting, sport spectating) but I would advise not to go for cheap battery power banks to power it.
I tried 2 old battery power banks which did not work so I initially thought that the heat panels in the bodywarmer were faulty as I could have either the front panels OR the back panel heating - it would not do both at the same time.
It turned out that the cheap slimline power banks which were supposed to be 20,000 mAh were not very good because when I switched to the newer 10,000 mAh power bank the heat panels worked perfectly.
On full heat front and back I get a solid 3.5 - 4hrs from the 10,000 power bank and it fits well into the interior pocket on the bodywarmer. The one I used is from INIU and is called POWER BANK BI-B41 - it is available on Amazon (see link above).

I.C.U Plan Beta Tacti-Cam 2.0 Camera - REVIEW
Tacti-Cam 2.0 (Amazon): https://geni.us/4qjS
(Worldwide link)
OK, the reason I put a notice on the end of the video is because of the following:
If you watch the video you'll see me give this camera a 4 star rating there....however, after filming I noticed that BOTH the small screws which are tightened to secure the camera to the rifle have sheared off so I've dropped the rating to a 3 star rating (ideally 2.5 stars).
That may still seem a bit generous but the screws didn't seem to do much anyway - the camera didn't fit to my rail securely even when the screws were unbroken and I had to tape it on to shoot the footage in the video.
The fact that I have to use tape to secure it to the rifle isn't really a big deal to me as the footage delivered by the camera is actually very good - sound is good too so I will definitely use it again......I'll just have to carry a roll of electricians tape.
It's a real shame that the body and rail fixing part of the camera is made from plastic because if it had a proper moving part fixing method to secure it to a rifle it would be a genuinely great product.
Maybe the inevitable '3.0 camera' can rectify the construction quality issues in the future and if the fixing method and camera body are improved I'd probably buy that version.
Would I advise anyone to buy this 2.0 version?
That's a difficult question since the rating I'd like to give this one is 2.5 stars and that's straight down the middle - the footage it shoots really is very good, sound is surprisingly good and ease of use is very simple.
However, that is tempered by the poor construction quality of the camera body and the ineffective fixing method.
I'd probably say "You pay your money and take your chance".
Judging by the reviews on Amazon there are a few of these which don't seem to work at all so if you're going to buy one make sure it is from somewhere like Amazon which has a returns / replacement policy and buyer protection.
Mine works fine (apart from the broken screws and the need to tape it to the barrel mount) but it's not exactly precision made...

This is a really impressive thrower and the price is excellent too - you're essentially getting a Thrunite quality light without the high purchase price.
It compares very well to the Thrunite V6 Catapult which I tested on my main channel (Pondguru) a few months ago as it maintains a sharp beam out to great distance. I can't tell the difference in beam distance or build quality.

Neewer 16MP Game Camera / Gamecam / Trailcam Review
Neewer 16MP gamecam (Worldwide Amazon link): https://geni.us/ZA2mdz
The Neewer 16MP game camera is a good performer, well made and easy to use - it would make a great first camera if you're looking to get into using game cams and want something reliable. The battery life is outstanding too.
Navigating the options for set up is extremely easy and although I shot video footage of that process I did not include it in the final video part of the review since anyone using this camera will quickly figure it out.
When setting any game cam I generally have it set to take 2 pictures followed by a 30 second video and with this camera I was unable to do that since the 'hybrid' option of photo and video only allows for one picture followed by a video (length determined by user settings) - to be honest that didn't bother me as I normally only include video clips of wildlife in the Youtube videos I make for my channel. The option of a photo being taken prior to the video is really just to capture any animal which quickly passes the sensor and wouldn't be caught by the subsequent video.
This is such a simple camera to operate, set and check footage when picking up that I don't really need to go into detail about the various features - check the Amazon listing for those. I'll give you a list of positives and negatives followed by a short summary:
PROS:
Fast trigger speed (0.3s).
Good detection angle (120 degrees).
Will allow for up to 64gb memory card (most cameras only accept up to 32gb).
Easily stands up to harsh weather and freezing conditions.
Menu is very easy to navigate.
The battery cover has a finger loop to enable the user to quickly access the batteries (with most cams you have to dig the cover release out with a knife or key).
Battery life is excellent - best I've tested so far.
Picture quality is very good in all light conditions, even total darkness.
When activated the LED lights do not spook animals.
Microphone quality is quite good for a game cam.
Video quality is on par with cameras of a similar price or even cameras in a higher price bracket.
Price is very reasonable.
CONS:
Video quality is definitely not full HD (even on highest setting) but it is still good - before you go looking for a camera under £100 which will have proper HD I can tell you I haven't found one yet and I've had loads of different game cams.
Picture quality possibly isn't as high as stated.
(the above negative points are common with every game cam under £100 I have tested in the last few years so are not specific to this one)
......that's about it.......
SUMMARY:
It's a good camera at a decent price. It performs well and I know won't let me down.
I'd have full confidence setting this one in remote areas and leaving it for months on end, safe in the knowledge that I would have a memory card full of good pictures and videos when I retrieve it.

Olight Baldr Pro - REVIEW
20% off code: QR6AS8IY (works until Nov.27th 2019)
Baldr Pro on Amazon: https://geni.us/sSEaFGZ
OK, so in the UK we can't get access to pistols due to many political factors so the chances of this light (described by many as a 'pistol light') being used on anything other than airsoft 'weapons' is very slim.
However.....This is a very good light for a small calibre rifle as the beam it casts is very intense and easily throws out to the stated 260 metres. Perfect for a .22 rimfire or .17 HMR rimfire.
The laser is tiny but ridiculously powerful and I can easily see the green dot at around half a mile away on house walls on the other side of the my valley (yes, I have good eyesight).
ON/OFF is responsive and the option to have light, light and laser or just laser is a nice touch.
Even in daylight it is easy to see the laser.
Since the light is powered by 2 x CR123A rechargeable batteries which are 1600mAh each there is plenty of power there to ensure long running time and accessing them is very easy although the light does have to be detached from the rifle for that to be possible. As long as the light is reattached at the same point on the mount the laser will not lose zero.
Just for reference:
The mount I am using in the video is a UTG universal single picatinny rail barrel mount (very good):
Amazon: https://geni.us/x9IeQ
Ebay: https://ebay.to/37wIIlU
The red lens cover is a 25.4mm cover: https://geni.us/AsmN
I would recommend checking out (and buying) the Olight universal magnetic USB charger cable: https://geni.us/xNfRQ as it is cheap and effective for charging up any batteries commonly used for flashlights of all types. It is usually cheapest on Amazon and is more convenient (and cheaper) than a traditional mains powered charger.
Zeroing the laser is very easy - it is just like lining up the reticle of a telescopic sight - one adjustment for elevation and one for windage. All I did is look through the scope and train the cross-hairs on a target approx. 35yds away (my normal shooting distance), adjust the laser to meet the middle of the cross-hairs and it was set. The process took about a minute.
This is another exceptional product from Olight and while it could be seen as more suited to use on a pistol (as that is how it is marketed) it is not to be overlooked for rifle use - especially for people who like to keep their gear small and compact.
For a .22 rifle or air rifle this is a great choice but for heavier calibres where targets will generally be more distant a more powerful light would be preferable.
I can't comment on how good it would be for a pistol as I'm in the UK but for a .22 rifle or air rifle it is a great choice. Highly recommended.

Lixada Telescopic Fishing Rod and Reel - REVIEW
Rod and Reel (Amazon): https://geni.us/tfgEMFc
Rod and reel (Ebay): https://ebay.to/32JlNAf
The rods are different on Ebay (small guide rings)
I went for the 1.5m (5 foot) telescopic rod and reel (Amazon) which came in the Lixada bag (see pictures and video) as my local river is not huge.
The rod is very well made and although most of the action is in the tip section that is to be expected due to the telescopic nature of the rod - the lower sections need to be quite stiff since the rod folds up into itself.
The closed length of the rod is only 31cm (approx. 12") making it a good choice for packing into a backpack or suitcase and the reel has a folding handle which allows for flatter packing.
I would advise getting a reel cover to keep the reel clean if it will be spending time in and out of a backpack.
The reel has a nicely made design which incorporates an effective drag dial and a handle lock to prevent handle being turned backward if you want to rely on the drag while playing fish (that is my choice of set up - lock ON and drag set to enable a decent sized fish to safely pull line). Reel fits securely into the reel seat and the seat has a double ring lock system to ensure that the reel stays in place while in use.
Casting is easy and the bale arm doesn't flick back over while casting unless it is knocked quite hard. Using the 1.5m rod I can easily cast an 8g spinner around 30m without much effort - that gets it to the other side of the widest part of my local river so it's all good there.
Reeling in is very smooth and totally silent indicating that the internals of the reel are well put together and running properly.
The guide rings on the rod are a decent size which is great to see since many of the small telescopic rods available online have tiny guide rings which affect casting distance - this feels more like a 'proper' rod.
As with all telescopic rods care must be given while opening and closing each section of the rod and it's definitely best to avoid pulling on the rings or they will eventually weaken and snap off - I've shown the correct method in the attached video for reference.
So, in summary.....
Does this rod and reel combo perform well? YES
Will it catch fish? YES
Will it last a long time? YES, with sensible care.
Could you rely on it in a survival situation? YES
Will it pack down into a backpack? YES, although a reel cover would be advised to protect the reel.
How many stars? 5, all the way.
If you are into survival / bushcraft you may want to check out the Lixada titanium stove or stainless steel stove https://geni.us/cWgjSD - it's not related to fishing gear but it is a great item to have in your bug out bag / bushcraft kit and it also represents excellent value.
