Colter Wall - Evangelina - Acoustic Cover
With an acoustic cover from his ranch headquarters in Saskatchewan, Colter Wall presents a little Hoyt Axton song called "Evangelina." Originally released during Axton's tenure at A&M, on March 19, 1976, the song appeared on the album, Fearless. A classic love story, the song "Evangelina" speaks of returning to "old Mexico" in an effort to rekindle the romance with a woman that brings comfort to the dreams of the forlorn singer.
Recorded by @littlejackfilms in a fifth wheel camper, this performance video showcases Colter Wall at home and making way across his own native prairies. For years the duo of Colter and Landon Johnson, aka Little Jack Films, have created both performance videos and album photography together. Little Jack Films' work first appeared as the cover of Wall's sophomore album, Songs of the Plains.
As part of his current set lists, "Evangelina" has grown in popularity for fans of Colter Wall. Along with @lahondarecords599 Colter continues to record and release music, available here: https://ffm.to/colterwall

Black Label Society - Blessed Hellride
The Blessed Hellride is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Black Label Society. It contains a mix of heavy ("Stoned and Drunk", "Stillborn") and lighter ("The Blessed Hellride", "Dead Meadow") tracks.
The second track, "Doomsday Jesus", was featured on the soundtrack to the video game MTX Mototrax, but with altered lyrics. The third track, "Stillborn", is featured on the soundtrack of the game Guitar Hero: World Tour. Frontman Zakk Wylde was also a playable celebrity rockstar in that same game.
Ozzy Osbourne appears on the first single, "Stillborn", though his name was not used to promote the track. He is credited inside the booklet, however, due to Osbourne being on Sony Records at the time, Spitfire Records were not allowed to promote this song with Osbourne's name—a sticker on the cover of the album said "featuring special guest star".

1. Stoned and Drunk 5:02
2. Doomsday Jesus 3:30
3. Stillborn (feat. Ozzy Osbourne) 3:15

Colter Wall - Imaginary Appalachia
"There are many who fancy that they have the calling to make country music in their blood. There’s far fewer who actually do. And then there’s some whose entire fabric seems to have coalesced into a human form for the sole purpose of being a vessel for country music to emanate from, and they couldn’t avoid the vocation if they tried. Colter Wall probably falls somewhere close to that latter category.
There sure are a lot of pretty singers in country music these days, but they don’t always have the power to evoke the spirits and sorrows of those who dwelled in rural landscapes and rugged terrains of the past. Johnny Cash had that power, and Merle Haggard is touched in that way, where they open their mouths and it’s as if ghosts come flying out in frayed regalia, soaring low above the crowd to bring past lives and past troubles straight to the forefront of the consciousness until their presence is as palpable as if they were still living in the present day and standing right in front of you.
A voice which is bolstered by such aforementioned attributes is one thing. When this process is aided by evocative narratives that awaken what feel like true to life characters in the mind of the beholder because of the richness of language, the experience is even that much more immersive. That’s what one experiences in audience of Imaginary Appalachia."

The Very First Two Hours Of MTV (MTV Memories)
The Very First Two Hours Of MTV (MTV Memories)
Not everyone on August 1, 1981 had a VCR at their disposal, and not everybody stayed up until midnight. But fortunately at least one person did, in order to tape the first two hours of a new cable channel called MTV: Music Television. Did they know it would be historic? MTV certainly hoped it would be: they equated the premiere of this 24/7 video version of radio with the moon landing. People born long after this time might wonder why a MTV Music Video award statuette was honoring Buzz Aldrin. But at the time, it made sense. “Ladies and Gentlemen, Rock and Roll.” It was a statement: less than three decades after the first rock and roll single, this genre of music had won—-it had colonized the planet. And beyond the planet, the next stop: the universe.
It’s fitting the execs chose as their first selection The Buggles “Video Killed the Radio Star.” Visuals were not just going to be an adjunct to the music, they were going to become inextricably linked. Either MTV was prescient about the visual decade to come or they in fact caused it to happen. Music videos or short films had been around since the invention of sound in the cinema, but MTV was *all* videos, *all the time*, brought to Americans due to the deregulation of the television industry in 1972 and the slow growth of cable channels.
After a Pat Benatar video, the VJs introduce themselves—-Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, J.J. Jackson, Alan Hunter, and Martha Quinn (all soon to be household names and crushes)-—and then straight into a block of commercials: school binders, Superman II, and Dolby Noise Reduction. A strange group of advertisers, to be sure. Goodman returns to ask, blindly, “Aren’t those guys the best?” Goodman has no idea what has preceded him.
Yes, the first day of MTV was pretty rough. In fact, it’s a bit like a DJ who turns up to a gig to find they’ve left most of their records across town. In the first two hours we get two Rod Stewart songs, two by the Pretenders, two by Split Ends, another Pat Benatar video, two from Styx, and two from the concert film for the People of Kampuchea. We also get completely obscure videos: PH.D. “Little Susie’s on the Up”, Robin Lane and the Chartbusters “When Things Go Wrong”, Michael Johnson “Bluer Than Blue”. This is D-list stuff. No wonder MTV premiered at midnight.
From these humble beginning the channel would soon find its groove and two years later it would become ubiquitous in American households.
People predicted the end of MTV right from the beginning. It would be a fad, or it would run out of videos to play. Forty years later, the channel has rebranded itself into oblivion. And while music videos still get made none have the effect that those first two decades had on generations of viewers. To paraphrase the Buggles, we have seen the playback and it seems so long ago.

Kiss - Creatures of the Night
Creatures of the Night is the tenth studio album by American rock band Kiss, released in 1982. It was the band's last for Casablanca Records, the only label for which Kiss had recorded up to that point. The album was dedicated to the memory of Casablanca founder and early Kiss supporter Neil Bogart, who had died of cancer during the recording sessions. It is also the band's last album recorded with Ace Frehley credited as an official member and their first album with Vinnie Vincent, as the initially uncredited lead guitarist. Vincent would later be credited but not featured on the cover of the 1985 reissue of the album. It was also Kiss' last album to feature the band with their trademark makeup until the release Psycho Circus in 1998.

Missing Persons - The SIGOPS Selections
*SIGOPS Collection*
Missing Persons is an American rock band founded in 1980 in Los Angeles by guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, vocalist Dale Bozzio, and drummer Terry Bozzio. They later added bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboardist Chuck Wild. Dale's quirky voice and heavy makeup made the band a favorite on MTV in the early 1980s.
Dale and Terry Bozzio met while working with Frank Zappa, and they married in 1979. Cuccurullo encountered the pair while contributing to the Zappa album Joe's Garage (1979). O'Hearn was also a former member of Zappa's touring band, and Wild had played with a variety of bands before joining.

Mammoth WVH - Like A Pastime (Official Lyric Video)
Wolfgang Van Halen's Mammoth WVH have released a lyric video Like A Pastime, the second single from upcoming album Mammoth II. It follows in the sonic footsteps of March release Another Celebration At The End Of The World, and is backboned by a driving rhythm that takes Mammoth WVH to places it hasn't been before.
** Do you know where the name for the band Mammoth came from? Do some online sleuthing and see what that was and drop it in the comments. **
“It centres around a 4/4-time signature, but with a polyrhythm on top," explains Wolfgang. "I was teaching my fiancé what a polyrhythm is, and I stumbled upon this idea. The kick drums are accentuating it. It’s certainly one of my favourites and a completely different vibe than anything on the first album."
Mammoth II will be released on August 4 and promises to be the highlight of a very busy summer for Wolfgang and the band, as a lengthy run of shows in Europe is followed by another in North America. The schedule is a mix of headline dates, festival appearances, and support slots with Metallica and with Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard on the European leg of their Stadium Tour. Full dates below.

Stevie Ray Vaughan- Live at Montreux 1985 - Full Concert [Special Event]
Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the best Blues Guitarists ever. This concert was one of his best live performances and garnered a Lot of attention from professional musicians and fans alike. This concert needs to be given Special Event status.
Stephen Ray Vaughan (also known as SRV; October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) was an American musician, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the blues rock trio Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. Although his mainstream career spanned only seven years, he is regarded as one of the most influential musicians in the history of blues music, and one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He was the younger brother of guitarist Jimmie Vaughan.
Born and raised in Dallas, Vaughan began playing guitar at age seven, initially inspired by his elder brother, Jimmie Vaughan. In 1972, he dropped out of high school and moved to Austin, where he began to gain a following after playing gigs on the local club circuit. Vaughan joined forces with Tommy Shannon on bass and Chris Layton on drums as Double Trouble in 1978 and established it as part of the Austin music scene; it soon became one of the most popular acts in Texas. He performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982, where David Bowie saw him play. Bowie contacted him for a studio gig that resulted in Vaughan playing blues guitar on the album Let's Dance (1983), before being discovered by John Hammond who interested major label Epic Records in signing Vaughan and his band to a record deal. Within months, they achieved mainstream success for the critically acclaimed debut album Texas Flood. With a series of successful network television appearances and extensive concert tours, Vaughan became the leading figure in the blues revival of the 1980s. Playing his guitar behind his back or plucking the strings with his teeth as Jimi Hendrix did, he earned fame in Europe, which later resulted in breakthroughs for guitar players like Robert Cray, Jeff Healey, Robben Ford, and Walter Trout, amongst others.
During the majority of his life, Vaughan struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction. He also struggled with the personal and professional pressures of fame and his marriage to Lenora "Lenny" Bailey. He successfully completed rehabilitation and began touring again with Double Trouble in November 1986. His fourth and final studio album In Step reached number 33 in the United States in 1989; it was one of Vaughan's most critically and commercially successful releases and included his only number-one hit, "Crossfire". He became one of the world's most highly demanded blues performers, and he headlined Madison Square Garden in 1989 and the Beale Street Music Festival in 1990.
On August 27, 1990, Vaughan and four others were killed in a helicopter crash in East Troy, Wisconsin, after performing with Double Trouble at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. An investigation concluded that the cause of the accident was pilot error and Vaughan's family later filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Omniflight Helicopters which was settled out of court. Vaughan's music continued to achieve commercial success with several posthumous releases and has sold over 15 million albums in the United States alone. In 2003, David Fricke of Rolling Stone ranked him the seventh greatest guitarist of all time. Vaughan was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, along with Double Trouble bandmates Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon, and Reese Wynans.
