The Dead South - In Hell I'll Be In Good Company
The Dead South’s “In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company” isn’t your average bluegrass song. It’s a dark and intriguing tale of love gone horribly wrong. In a mix of eerie lyrics and foot-tapping banjo strums, the song tells a story of betrayal and inevitable doom. Here, love is both a weapon and a wound. The protagonist is proud yet disgusted by the woman he loves, leading to a complex emotional terrain.
This song might speak to you if you’ve ever felt trapped in love’s twisted dance. It’s not clear why things took such a dark turn, but the narrator ends up with a “brass knife” in his shoulder and no plans to return home. It’s about confronting the hellish aspects of life and love, and accepting that sometimes you’re just in bad company.

Colter Wall - Kate McCannon (Official Video)
No one condones murder and the song/video does not promote it.
This song is about passion and the sad consequences of it if not controlled. It starts out with the man in prison for a moment of passion and grief which resulted in anger. Like most stories of this kind there is a message.
Manage your emotions and recognize the consequences of not doing so.
Thank You Colter for bringing back story telling as an art.
Lyrics:
Well the raven is a wicked bird
His wings are black as sin
And he floats outside my prison window
Mocking those within
And he sings to me real low
It's hell to where you go
For you did murder Kate McCannon
When I first met TomMcCannon
I was working in the mines
Said he had himself a dark haired daughter
With long, green eyes
And when she and I did meet
She was bathing in the creek
Prettiest girl in the whole damn holler
That ain't no lie
So I went a courtin' Kate McCannon
Got me a job and I quit my ramblin' and
Every day I'd save
A quarter of my pay
I could buy a diamond ring
Lord and one day I come home to find
My darlin' angel's not inside
So I made for the creek
Where she and I did meet
And found her with some other lover
And I put three rounds into Kate McCannon

Colter Wall - Evangelina - Acoustic Cover
With an acoustic cover from his ranch headquarters in Saskatchewan, Colter Wall presents a little Hoyt Axton song called "Evangelina." Originally released during Axton's tenure at A&M, on March 19, 1976, the song appeared on the album, Fearless. A classic love story, the song "Evangelina" speaks of returning to "old Mexico" in an effort to rekindle the romance with a woman that brings comfort to the dreams of the forlorn singer.
Recorded by @littlejackfilms in a fifth wheel camper, this performance video showcases Colter Wall at home and making way across his own native prairies. For years the duo of Colter and Landon Johnson, aka Little Jack Films, have created both performance videos and album photography together. Little Jack Films' work first appeared as the cover of Wall's sophomore album, Songs of the Plains.
As part of his current set lists, "Evangelina" has grown in popularity for fans of Colter Wall. Along with @lahondarecords599 Colter continues to record and release music, available here: https://ffm.to/colterwall
