Russell "Texas" Bentley: Dead or Alive? (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 33)
My friend and fellow Austinite Russell "Texas" Bentley has been missing since April 8. Despite rumors and speculation about his mysterious disappearance, Russell's fate is still a mystery.
On the day he went missing, Russell and his wife Lyudmila had been in line at a local government building in #Donetsk to deal with some administrative documents, when he went to go help civilians injured in a nearby attack by Ukrainian forces. But when his wife went looking for him she only found his car, with his baseball cap, glasses, and his phone, which was shattered.
On April 16th his wife wrote on Russell's Telegram account that she had received "reliable and confirmed ironclad information" that her husband was kidnapped "and continues to be illegally detained by the tankers of the 5th Brigade of the Russian Federation Armed Forces."
She pleaded with Russell's friends and supporters to appeal urgently to the governments of the Donetsk People's Republic and #Russia, the FSB, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs, to help her locate her husband, adding "perhaps, there is not much time."
His wife posted again on Thursday, April 18th: "Today is the 10th day since Russell disappeared. To this day, I do not know his whereabouts,” she said.
On Friday, reports began to emerge that seemingly confirmed our worst fears.
Sputnik, who employed Russell as a war correspondent, released a statement written by Margarita Simonyan, the head of Russia Today TV, stating that Russell (call sign "Texas") was dead.
Russell's former combat unit, the Vostok battalion, and a local official in #Donetsk also confirmed his death yesterday, adding that their information came from Russell's wife.
The U.S. State Department has not confirmed this information, however. In a statement Friday, a spokesperson said:
“We are aware of reports of a U.S. citizen missing in the Donetsk region in #Ukraine. Our ability to verify reports of incidents regarding U.S. citizens in Ukraine is extremely limited."
The mystery deepened when Russell's wife and some of his friends spoke out today, saying that they could not -- and would not -- confirm that he was in fact deceased.
Our Maverick News correspondent in #Crimea, Kevin Michelizzi, is a personal friend of the Bentleys and told us this morning he was furious about the premature reports of Russell's demise, adding that most of what we've been told is #FakeNews.
This afternoon Russell's wife Lyudmila posted on Russell's official Telegram channel that "I have not seen him alive, nor his body, nor his remains. That's a fact. And yes, there is some insider information that is very not good." She thanked "the Wagner group guys for finding out what happened, how that happened, who they were, how many of them there were and their motive..."
"I still hope for real operational professionalism and decency from all involved agencies," she said.
Since leaving his #Austin, #Texas home ten years ago to volunteer for the Russian armed forces against what he called "the #Nazis in Ukraine," Russell was willing to lay down his life for a cause he believed in: the struggle against #fascism.
Even though Russell had aged out of the armed forces a few years ago, he was still not afraid to put himself in dangerous situations; often running directly towards active combat zones to cover battles as a journalist, or to provide first aid to civilians injured by the constant shelling in Donetsk -- as he did in the moments before his mysterious disappearance on April 8.
In an interview exactly one month before he vanished, Russell told journalist Patrick Henningsen on TNT Radio that Donetsk was swiftly becoming a hotzone of combat activity once again as NATO soldiers were infiltrating the area -- which may provide some clues as to his violent kidnapping and perhaps, his murder.
At this point, it is probably safe to say we won't be seeing our friend "the #Donbass Cowboy" again. Who killed Russell Bentley? Was it the Ukrainians, who had his name on their infamous kill list? Was it the #DPR, who reportedly suspected him of being a #NATO spy? Was it Pro-Ukrainian Russian "Werewolves" who had a personal score to settle? Or perhaps a shadowy NATO special forces unit who black-bagged him?
We may never know. All we do know for sure is that Russell "Texas" Bentley's life -- and his ultimate sacrifice -- was not in vain. Those of us who knew and loved him will miss his war stories, his guitar picking, his wry wit, and his encyclopedic knowledge of history.
Although Russell and I were on opposite sides of the political spectrum (I'm a #libertarian; he was a #communist), we shared much in common: a deep love for our native Texas, our musical tastes, our #cannabis activism, and our mutual hatred of fascism.
Tonight, Episode 33 of "Strange Bedfellows" is a tribute to my friend Russell. As today is 4/20, the annual #marijuana holiday, I couldn't think of a more appropriate time to bring you some selected highlights from my last interview with Russell on July 14, 2023. Here, he tells his fascinating life story, in his own words.
If you never had the pleasure of getting to know Russell "Texas" Bentley, maybe tonight's show will make you wish you had. And if you did know "Tejas," this incredible conversation will serve as a remembrance of the beautiful human being we have apparently lost to the horrors of war.

College Campuses ERUPT in Protests! (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 34)
As students protesting the #Israel-#Hamas warat college campuses across U.S.dug in Saturday and vowed to keep their demonstrations going, some universities moved to shut down encampments after reports of antisemitic activity among the protesters.
With the death toll mounting inthe war in #Gaza, protesters nationwide are demanding thatschools cut financial tiesto Israel and divest from companies they say are enabling the conflict. Some Jewish students say the #protests have veered into #antisemitism and made them afraid to set foot on campus.
Early today police in riot gear cleared an encampment on the campus of Northeastern University in Boston while several dozen students shouted and booed at them from a distance. Massachusetts State Police said about 102 protesters who refused to disperse were arrested and will be charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.
The school said in a statement that the demonstration, which began two days ago, had become “infiltrated by professional organizers” with no affiliation to the school and antisemitic slurs, including “kill the #Jews,” had been used.
“We cannot tolerate this kind of hate on our campus,” the statement posted on the social media platform X said.
The University of Pennsylvania took similar action Friday when interim President J. Larry Jameson called for an encampment of protesters on the west Philadelphia campus to be disbanded, saying it violates the university’s facilities policies, though about 40 tents remained in place Saturday morning.
The “harassing and intimidating comments and actions” by some protesters violate the school’s open expression guidelines as well as state and federal law, Jameson said, and vandalism of a statue with antisemitic graffiti was “especially reprehensible and will be investigated as a hate crime.”
At Columbia University, where protesters haveinspired pro-#Palestine demonstrationsacross the country, negotiations continued with the student encampment.
The university’s senate passed a resolution Friday that created a task force to examine the administration’s leadership, which last week called in police in an attempt to clear the protest, resulting in scuffles and more than 100 arrests.
Though the university has repeatedly set and then pushed back deadlines for the removal of the encampment, the school sent an email to students Friday night saying that bringing back police “at this time” would be counterproductive.
Also Friday, Columbia student protester Khymani James walked back comments made in an online video in January that recently received new attention. James said in the video that “#Zionists don’t deserve to live” and people "should be grateful" James wasn’t killing them.
James, who served as a spokesperson for the pro-Palestinian encampment as a member of Columbia University Apartheid Divest, was banned from campus Friday, according to a Columbia spokesperson.
Protest organizers said James’ comments didn’t reflect their values. They declined to describe James’ level of involvement with the demonstration.
But the tensions pile pressure on school officials, who are already scrambling to resolve the protests as Maygraduation ceremoniesnear.
California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, gave protesters who have barricaded themselves inside a building since Monday until 5 p.m. Friday to leave and “not be immediately arrested.” The deadline came and went. Only some of the protesters left; others doubled down. After protesters rebuffed police earlier in the week, the campus was closed for the rest of the semester.
In Colorado, police swept through an encampment Friday at Denver’s Auraria Campus, which hosts three universities and colleges, arresting about 40 protesters on trespassing charges.
In France, students at the Paris Institute of Political Studies, which counts President Emmanuel Macron among its many famous alumni, studentsblocked access to a campus buildingand classes went online as the wave of protests reached overseas.
Tonight on "Strange Bedfellows" we welcome back Na'omi Allen in South Africa, history blogger and proud Zionist, who argues that Israel's war against Hamas is justified and that the protests erupting at college campuses worldwide are celebrations of antisemitism.
Last time Na'omi was with us on Episode 28, she predicted that "a second #Holocaust" is coming, and that "it will start in New York City."
Currently #NYC has four large anti-Israel campus protests in full swing -- more than any other city in the United States. Na'omi will explain why she thinks this is a dangerous trend.
Also joining us is Kevin Michelizzi, our Maverick News correspondent in #Crimea, #Russia, to discuss the "other war" in his neck of the woods, and the $60 billion aid package passed by the U.S. Congress this week, and how this influx of money and weapons will affect the ongoing war in #Ukraine.
Tonight's international panel will include four countries (possibly five, depending on whether you view Crimea as Russia or Ukraine!):
Rick Walker in Canada
Lori Spencer in the United States
Kevin Michelizzi in Crimea
Na'omi Allen in South Africa
A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed on "Strange Bedfellows." Join us LIVE from 9-11 P.M. Eastern.

Who Was Haj Amin Al-Husseini, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem?
As the Führer hid in his bunker and prepared for his suicide, he penned his last political will and testament.
Adolf Hitler's last written words were a plea to the world to continue to “resist mercilessly the poisoner of all nations, international Jewry,” a plea most thoroughly and systematically heeded by the Islamic Jihadists and one of their primary movements,Ḥarakat al-Muqāwamah al-ʾIslāmiyyah, the Islamic Resistance Movement known as #Hamas.
To fully grasp the ideology that drives Hamas and the Palestinian liberation movement today, one must first understand the history that gave rise to it -- and specifically, Nazi collaborator Haj Amin al-Husseini, the tie that binds #Hitler to Hamas.
Haj Amin al-Husseini came to power through a British act of appeasement after he had been tried in absentia and found guilty of inciting riots in #Palestine in 1920; the riots arose in response to the first proposal for a two-state solution outlined by the Faisal-Weizmann Agreement of January 1919.
Attempting to calm the Arab population, British mandate governor Herbert Samuel appointed him Mufti of Jerusalem on 8 May 1921. Among the newly appointed Mufti’s first actions was a declaration of #jihad against the British and the #Jews.
In March 1933 he paid his first official visit to the new Nazi German General Consul Heinrich Wolff in Jerusalem. Once again wanted by the British for inciting the Arab Revolt of 1936 – 1939, al-Husseini fled Palestine for #Iraq.
After inciting an overthrow of the Iraqi government and murderous pogroms that resulted in the slaughter of hundreds of Jews, the Mufti found safe harbor in Berlin, where he was handsomely rewarded by the #Nazis with money, a lavish lifestyle, and armed guards. He was employed by Nazi Germany making propaganda radio broadcasts for the Arab world.
I've written several lengthy threads about the Grand Mufti on X (formerly Twitter), diving deep into the complex history of Nazi/Arab collaboration, such as this one:
https://twitter.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1712385314902147152?s=20
As early as January 1941 al-Husseini was recruiting Bosnian Muslims to serve in the Waffen SS and in SS killing units. The largest of the Mufti’s Muslim killing units was the infamous 13thHandschar Division of 21,065 men.
As a result of his murderous actions in service to the Nazis, al-Husseini was charged with war crimes -- yet, he managed to evade prosecution at #Nuremberg and flee, aided by British intelligence.
In June 1946 he turned up in Cairo, where, as noted above, the Muslim Brotherhood gave him a hero’s welcome.
That same year the Mufti took in his second cousin Yasser #Arafat as his protégé; he brought in a former Nazi commando officer to teach Arafat “the fine points of guerilla warfare.” Some scholars argue that “al-Husseini was himself most likely the true founder of the al-Fatah,… Arafat’s terror cell… the nucleus of the #PLO.”
This thread relies on OSS and CIA documents declassified 50 years after #WWII under the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act of 1998, tracing the Grand Mufti's activities after the war -- which included terrorist bombings, the assassination of a King, and the funding of terror groups.
https://twitter.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1731187027343753634?s=20
Hamas emerged immediately after the outbreak of the Palestinians’ First Intifada against Israel as a militant Palestinian wing of the Muslim Brotherhood on 9 December 1987.
The Movement was founded by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and his comrades Dr. Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi and Mahmoud al-Zahar. Yassin grew up in awe of Haj Amin al-Husseini. He joined the Muslim Brotherhood in 1957 and in 1973 established the Islamic Congress in #Gaza to expand the influence of the Brotherhood; in 1978 he was among the founders of the Islamic University of #Gaza in #Palestine.
Yassin and his cohorts embraced the Nazis’ fundamental view that the #Jews are “the dirtiest and meanest of all races, defiling the most sanctified and honored spot on earth,” making “no distinctions between Jews, Zionists, and Israelis.”
As in all ideologies driven by Jew hatred, from Hitler to Hamas, where the Jew is the enemy, #Judaism is the enemy.
Nazi ideology is alive and well today in parts of the Arab world, and especially in Gaza, where Hamas rules (for now).
In this highlight from Episode 28 of "Strange Bedfellows" (with history blogger Na'omi Allen in South Africa), we give a brief history lesson of the Strangest Bedfellows of all time: the #Nazis and the Arabs.
I'll discuss with Na'omi the lasting influence of the Grand Mufti in radical Islamist movements like Hamas.
We'll even show you the most popular chain of clothing stores in Gaza City today: "Hitler 1" and "Hitler 2"-- where fashionable young Palestinian #fascists buy "Hitler Chic" apparel.
Join us for this important discussion at 9 P.M. Eastern tonight.

America's Nazi Secret (Hidden History Revealed, Ep. 3)
In Episodes 1 and 2 of the "Hidden #History Revealed" podcast, I unraveled the story of how U.S. military intelligence (and later, the CIA) recruited, armed, funded, trained, and protected former German and Ukrainian #Nazis during the #ColdWar.
These truths were kept secret from the American people for more than half a century.
Although a few stories had leaked out over the years, historians were unable to conclusively confirm how extensive the Nazi connection was until Congress passed the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act in 1998, which allowed declassification and release of the files.
In Episode 3, I'll tell you about the efforts of one man -- a Department of Justice whistleblower -- whose 20 year crusade to expose the facts helped make that law possible and brought the truth to light at last.
His name is John Loftus.
As a former prosecutor with the U.S. Justice Department's Nazi-hunting unit, he had unprecedented access to top-secret #CIA and #NATO archive in the 1970s and 80s.
Now a retired attorney, Loftushas written several books about his discoveries in those underground vaults where the government buries its secrets. His classic works include "The Belarus Secret," "The Witness Tree," "The Secret War Against The #Jews" and "America's Nazi Secret."
Prepare yourself for a new episode full of shocking revelations! Premiers tonight at 9 Eastern.

Will Trump's Assets Be Seized?
The New York Attorney General may start collecting former president #Trump’s assets if he fails to post a bond by next Monday.
Trump was hit with a penalty that came to around $454 million after interest and would have had to pay a bond slightly higher than that amount to stave off the state from seizing assets, such as his many real estate holdings, to cover the penalty. An appeals court later ruled that he could instead pay a lower bond of $175 million.
Trump posted $175 million bond on April 1 to prevent James from seizing his assets while he attempts to appeal the civil fraud ruling against him.
New York Judge Arthur Engoron previously found Trump, his adult sons Donald Jr. and Eric, and The Trump Organization liable for a scheme in which the value of Trump’s net worth and assets were unlawfully inflated to obtain more favorable business deals.
Trump, the presumptive 2024 #GOP presidential nominee, has maintained his innocence in the matter.
The bond was then rejected by the court’s filing system shortly after it was posted due to missing paperwork, including a “current financial statement.” James, whose office led the fraud case against Trump, later raised questions about the “sufficiency” of the bond and noted that the surety backing it, Knight Specialty Insurance Company (KSIC), is not admitted in New York, meaning it’s ineligible to obtain a certificate of qualification from the Department of Financial Services. KSIC has refiled its paperwork as a result in an effort to get the process moving again.
New York A.G. Letitia James cited a statute “which indicates that within ten days (that is—by April 15, as April 14 is a Sunday) either Trump or the KNIC must file a motion in court to ‘justify the surety.’ If not, then pursuant to statute, the bond shall ‘be without effect’.”
If that happens, the state of New York can start seizing Trump’s assets immediately.
On Episode 27 of “Strange Bedfellows” we spoke with Tyler Nixon, longtime ally and personal attorney for Roger Stone who knows a thing or two about #lawfare against both his client and Mr. Trump. You won’t want to miss what he has to say about this case!

Trump vs. Fani Willis: Round 2!
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is pushing back on the latest attempt by former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants to disqualify her entire office from prosecuting the election subversion case in Georgia, according to a new court filing Monday.
Willis asked the Georgia Court of Appeals to uphold Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee’s initial ruling that allowed her to remain on the criminal case if her top prosecutor, Nathan Wade, resigned. Wade resigned within hours of McAfee’s ruling last month.
The appeals court is weighing a request from #Trump and several others charged in #Georgia to review and overturn McAfee’s earlier decision.
Willis argued on Monday that the appeals court should deny that request.
In Monday’s filing, the Fulton County district attorney’s office insisted again that there was no conflict of interest and said that Willis’ comments about race playing a role in criticism of her office did not rise to misconduct requiring disqualification.
While Willis has attempted to shift attention back to the criminal case itself after the detour over ethics allegations for more than two months, Trump and his co-defendants are still arguing the romantic relationship between Willis and Wade created a conflict of interest.
“At a minimum, DA Willis and her office should have been disqualified from prosecuting the case,” Trump’s lead Georgia-based attorney Steve Sadow wrote when he asked the appeals court to take up his case. “The Georgia Court of Appeals should grant the application and accept the interlocutory appeal for consideration on the merits.”
It is now up to the Georgia Court of Appeals to decide if they want to review the decision not to disqualify Willis and her office. This appeal doesn’t pause the prosecution, which continues to play out before trial.
In this highlight from Episode 27 of “Strange Bedfellows” we spoke to longtime Roger Stone attorney and confidant Tyler Nixon about the latest round of #lawfare against the former president, watch some highlights from the courtroom, and hear his legal analysis of the Fani Willis/Wade affair.

Six Months Since 10-7: What Is Justice?
Today marks six months since the horrific event we called "Israel's 9/11" during our live Maverick News broadcast of October 7, 2023.
Tonight, we bring you a relevant highlight from Episode 28 of "Strange Bedfellows" with history blogger Na'omi Allen in South Africa about her country's case against #Israel alleging that the #Jewish nation is committing #genocide in #Gaza.
This week Ruth Marcus, Associate Editor for The Washington Post wrote in an Op-Ed that the International Court of Justice is "waging lawfare against Israel."
"The International Court of Justice is international, to be sure, but it is neither behaving like a court nor dispensing justice. Rather, the #ICJ is allowing itself to be used as a geopolitical weapon in theIsrael-Gaza war."
Our guest Na'omi Allen agrees, and calls out #Russia's hypocrisy for joining the ICJ case against Israel (a close cultural ally until October 7).
Considering that Russian president #Putin himself is also accused of committing war crimes in #Ukraine, isn't this a case of the proverbial pot calling the kettle black?
Last March, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin, obliging 124 member states to detain, arrest, and transfer Putin to the ICC if he enters their jurisdiction.
Na'omi says the war crimes charges against Putin are as ridiculous as the genocide charges are against Israel.
Tonight at 9 PM Eastern she will explain why international courts of justice have become a complete and utter farce.
#NeverForget that #Hamas committed genocide against #Jews on 10-7. Why aren't the leaders of Hamas on trial at the Hague right now instead of the country their terrorist militias savagely attacked six months ago today?
My conversation with Na'omi took place as the dark of night gave way to the South African sunrise -- a hopeful metaphor for #peace on the horizon for Israel, the Jewish people, and #Palestine...soon.

Neuralink Brain Chip: Would YOU Take It?
Elon Musk's cybernetic implant company, #Neuralink, just released a video of its first brain chip patient using his mind to play chess on a computer.
Noland Arbaugh, a 29-year-old paralyzed below the shoulders after a diving accident, demonstrated how he could control the cursor on his laptop with nothing other than his thoughts.
He used Neuralink's wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) to play computer chess and discussed his surgery in a video viewed more than 15 million times on X, the social media platform owned by Musk.
"The surgery was super easy," Arbaugh said. "I literally was released from the hospital a day later. I have no cognitive impairments."
We will show you that astonishing video tonight on Maverick News.
Rick and I will also discuss the pros and cons of how Neuralink could change the world for the better (or worse), and the ethics of this #technology.
Finally, we will leave the question to you, the viewer: would YOU take the Neuralink brain chip?

Moscow Terror Attack: What We Know (And Don't Know)
#Russia's top security agency said Monday it has broken up what it called a "terrorist cell"in southern Russiawhose members had provided weapons and cash to suspected attackers of the #Moscow #Crocus concert hall.
The Federal Security Service, or #FSB, said that on Sunday it detained four suspected members of the cell in the Russian province of Dagestan in the North Caucasus.
The agency alleged that the suspects detained in Dagestan were involved in channeling funds and providing weapons to the gunmen who attacked the concert hall on Moscow's western edge on March 22, killing 144 people in the deadliest attack on Russian soil in two decades.
The agency said the suspects are foreign nationals, without specifying their nationality. The suspected attackers of the Moscow concert hall arrested hours after the March 22 raid are citizens of the Central Asian nation of Tajikistan.
The detention of four suspects in #Dagestan follows the arrest of the four suspected gunmen and seven others who were accused of involvement in the attack.
An affiliate of the Islamic State (#ISIS) group claimed responsibility for the attack.President Vladimir #Putinacknowledged that "radical Islamists" conducted the raid, but alleged - without providing evidence - that #Ukraine and the West were involved, despite Kyiv's vehement denials.
On tonight's edition of Maverick News we will tell you what we know (and don't know) about the Moscow terror attacks thus far, and try to separate fact from fiction.

REGIME CHANGE in Israel? (Rabbi Michael Barclay Interview)
On Easter Sunday, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin #Netanyahu was under full anesthesia for hernia surgery, and the reins of power were temporarily in the hands of his deputy, tens of thousands of protesters surrounded the #Knesset in #Jerusalem demanding an election now.
Rumors began to spread online that Netanyahu had died from complications during surgery (and many #Israel-haters openly celebrated). Even if the Prime Minister makes a full recovery there can be no doubt that Netanyahu is facing a major crisis that hampers the stability of his country, his ability to govern, and to win the war against #Hamas.
The #Biden administration's recent pivot on #Gaza, and Sen. Charles Schumer's recent call for elections -- an effective regime change in Israel -- signal that the tide is turning (at least with #Democrats) against our longtime ally in the Middle East.
Remember when Chuck #Schumer told CBS News that if you piss off the CIA "they have six ways from Sunday of getting back at you?" Netanyahu’s about to get regime changed.
It looks like a color revolution is brewing in Israel. On Sunday, demonstrators in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in front of the Knesset opened tents and announced that they would not leave until the government fell. They set fires in the streets and spoke of plans to storm the Knesset and topple the government.
Is #Biden planning another Maidan-style coup like he did in #Ukraine a decade ago?
And isn’t it interesting timing that Netanyahu suddenly is told he has to have “emergency surgery” Sunday morning, and must hand over power to his deputy while under full anesthesia? What better time for Biden’s “come to Jesus” moment than Easter Sunday?
President Biden knows he will only get a two-state solution over Netanyahu's dead body. So perhaps the CIA is helping to arrange that.
If an assassination or a coup d'etat happens in Israel, remember you heard it here first.
On Episode 31 of "Strange Bedfellows" we discuss with Rabbi Michael Barclay the Biden administration's betrayal of Israel, the U.S. plan to topple Netanyahu's government, and how #Jews -- who traditionally vote for the Democratic Party -- feel backstabbed by Biden!

Rabbi Barclay RESPONDS To Candace Owens!
Candace Owens was reportedly let go from The Daily Wire in part because of a controversial interview she recently conducted with Rabbi Michael Barclay about #antisemitism.
The original, full-length, unedited interview with Rabbi Barclay has now been removed from Candace Owens' official YouTube and Rumble channels. A response video posted by Candace Owens the following day, which contains cherry-picked excerpts from the Rabbi Barclay interview is the only version still available on her official channels.
Owens memory-holed the original interview with Rabbi Barclay -- essentially silencing him; and instead only allowing parts of the interview to be seen by the public (the parts of the debate most favorable to Candace, of course, and least favorable to the Rabbi).
Immediately after the interview aired, Rabbi Barclay and his Los Angeles area synagogue were flooded with hateful communications and death threats, causing them to increase security and request help from local law enforcement.
On Thursday, Ben Shapiro denied thatOwens parted ways with the Daily Wire because of “disagreements over #Israel” — though he hinted that her comments veered outside of the company’s “Overton window.”
Shapiro, who co-founded the Daily Wire alongside Jeremy Boreing, cited “a lot of other factors … at play” that led to the departure of the conservative commentator last week.
We spoke to Rabbi Barclay on Episode 31 of "Strange Bedfellows" about the EXPLOSIVE interview with Candace Owens, her sudden exit from the Daily Wire, and some of the frightening antisemitic messages he has received from Owens' followers.
Don't miss Rabbi Michael Barclay's response to Candace!
Catch the premiere tonight at 7:30 P.M. Eastern.

Who Killed RFK? Guest: Jim DiEugenio (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 32)
Just after midnight on June 5, 1968, Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on the campaign trail in Los Angeles, minutes after winning the California presidential primary.
The shooter apprehended at the scene was 24 year-old Sirhan Sirhan, a Palestinian immigrant, who was heard to exclaim: "I can explain! I did it for my country!"
Sirhan confessed to the crime and said he was angry at Sen. #Kennedy over his support for #Israel. The date Sirhan selected for kill #RFK was the one-year anniversary of the 1967 Six-Day War.
In 1989, Sirhan told British journalistDavid Frost: "My only connection with Robert Kennedy was his sole support of Israel and his deliberate attempt to send those 50 fighter jets to Israel to obviously do harm to the Palestinians." Some scholars believe that the assassination was the first major incident of political violence in theUnited Statesstemming from theIsraeli–Palestinian conflict.
Sirhan Bishara Sirhan is still regarded as a hero of the Palestinian Liberation Movement, who have demanded his release several times during a number of hijackings and kidnappings over the past five-and-a-half decades - including a 1972 incident when the Popular Front for the Liberation of #Palestine hijacked a Lufthansa flight with #RFK's son Joseph Kennedy onboard.
That incredible story is told in this thread:
https://twitter.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1754096340697489719?s=20
Sirhan Sirhan turned 80 years old this month -- and is still hoping for parole. He has been denied 17 times, most recently in 2023. If his efforts succeed, Sirhan will be immediately deported back to Palestine or Jordan because he is not an American citizen.
55 years ago, the murder trial of Sirhan Sirhan was ongoing in a Los Angeles courtroom. The trial began in January, 1969 and continued for four months. The jury convicted him of first-degree murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit murder -- one count for each of the five other innocent bystanders Sirhan shot.
At the time of Sirhan's conviction, most Americans believed without question that Sirhan acted alone; after all, he was seen by 77 witnesses firing a gun at #RFK in the Ambassador Hotel pantry, he confessed to the crime, and was convicted by a jury. It wasn't until 6 years later that questions of a possible conspiracy began to arise.
In 1974, Kennedy campaign labor organizer Paul Schrade, along with former U.S. Congressman Allard Lowenstein, CBS News, and former Los Angeles prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi filed a personal injury civil lawsuit against Sirhan and 50 other "John Does" with the ultimate goal of compelling the Los Angeles Police Department and Sirhan to provide new or withheld evidence in the original trial.
From that point forward, a thousand RFK assassination conspiracy theories were born, and over the past half-century the voices who call for a reopening the case grow louder.
The "Free Sirhan" movement includes none other than 2024 Independent presidential candidate #RFKJr, who wants answers in his father's murder. Kennedy visited Sirhan in prison and wrote letters to the California Parole Board recommending his release.
The Kennedy family is split on the issue of Sirhan's release. RFK Jr. is joined by only one of his other siblings in calling for Sirhan's parole; all of their siblings and mother Ethel want Sirhan to die in prison.
Tonight on "Strange Bedfellows" we are pleased to welcome back Kennedy assassination historian James DiEugenio, who has written numerous books and articles on the #JFK and RFK assassinations over the past three decades. His latest book is "The JFK Assassination Chokeholds That Prove There Was A #Conspiracy."
Jim also wrote the screenplay and accompanying book for Oliver Stone's epic new documentary series "JFK Revisited: Through The Looking Glass" and is the editor-in-chief of KennedysAndKing.com -- an invaluable resource for information on the murders of President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King.
We will take a deep dive into the evidence presented at Sirhan's trial 55 years ago for both the prosecution and the defense, as well as new information that has come forward in the years since.
Jim DiEugenio will explain why he believes Sirhan's gun could not have killed RFK, and present a compelling case for conspiracy.
A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed on "Strange Bedfellows."

Candace Owens FIRED! Guest: Rabbi Michael Barclay (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 31)
A growing number of American and Israeli #Jews feel backstabbed by President #Biden's administration for failing to support our longtime ally in her time of need.
As #Israel's war against #Hamas nears its 6th month, the #Democrats seem to be losing their nerve (and votes in key swing states like Michigan and Minnesota). Even though over 80% of Americans support Israel, Biden now says he wants to reward the terrorist-run government of #Gaza with statehood.
That sounds pretty insane to most Americans (and indeed, most thinking people around the world). But wait! There's more. Things get weirder still.
Last week Sen. Charles Schumer called for a new government and immediate elections in Israel to boot Prime Minister Benjamin #Netanyahu from power. Although Schumer used the carefully-chosen words "course correction," what he meant was "regime change."
Tonight on "Strange Bedfellows" we will unpack the U.S. plan for a two-state solution, and if Biden's betrayal of Israel will backfire in the November presidential election. Will pro-Israel Democrats abandon Biden and vote for reliably pro-Israel candidates like #Trump or #RFKJr?
Our guest tonight is a leading American conservative Rabbi, Michael Barclay, founder of Temple Ner Simcha in Westlake Village, California. Rabbi Barclay made waves this week when he appeared on the Candace Owens show for a discussion on rising #antisemitism.
The fallout from that viral interview led to Rabbi Barclay getting a flood of hate mail and death threats. His synagogue had to beef up security and seek protection from local law enforcement and the FBI.
#CandaceOwens, meanwhile, counter-claimed that she was also getting threats from Jews after her interview with Rabbi Barclay.
This controversy was the straw that finally broke the camel's back, and Owens was fired by the Daily Wire on Friday, following months of tension with her employer, Ben Shapiro.
Tonight we will hear Rabbi Barclay's side of the story, and a whole lot more.
GUEST BIO:
The descendant of Ukrainian rabbis from Chernigov, Rabbi Barclay was both the Hillel Director and a professor in the School of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has lectured around the world on cross-cultural mysticism and meditation. Rabbi Barclay was also the recipient of the 2010 B’nai Zion Distinguished Humanitarian Award.
Rabbi Barclay is an author and frequent Torah commentator for The Jewish Journal as well as contributor for multiple periodicals including The Jewish Forward, The Jewish Times, The Acorn, and PJ Media.
In 2013, Rabbi Barclay founded Temple Ner Simcha, the first non-Orthodox synagogue in the nation with no membership dues. The full service synagogue subsists entirely on donations and grants. Ner Simcha is inclusive and non-denominational, using conservative prayer books; but, the liturgy is often prayed in English.
The temple was also the only synagogue in California that never closed and never restricted live attendance during the Covid pandemic.
Join us LIVE tonight at 9 P.M . Eastern for "Strange Bedfellows" with Rabbi Michael Barclay!

RFK's VP Pick Rumors are FAKE NEWS! Guest: Billy Dees (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 30)
2024 Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will announce his running mate in Oakland, California on March 26, his campaign said Wednesday.
#RFKJr’s alleged short list of possible running mates was published in the New York Times this week.
The short list of about 10 names reportedly included controversial #NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, “Dirty Jobs” producer Mike Rowe, Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura.
There’s only one problem with the short list published by the Times:
Mr. Kennedy’s actual pick wasn’t on it!
The controversy turned out to be completely #FakeNews.
We will separate fact from fiction tonight at 9 P.M. Eastern on “Strange Bedfellows.”
On Episode 30, we welcome as our guest Billy Dees, whose podcast I appeared on this week.
We had a delightful but all-too-brief conversation about the #Kennedy24 campaign, which he’s covered extensively on previous episodes of his program.
Seems like a 30 minute chat with Dees barely scratched the surface, so I wanted to bring him on “Strange Bedfellows” where we have a full two hours to really take a deep dive into the #RFK VP rumors, possible running mates for Mr. Kennedy, and discuss how the legacy media sent a lie halfway around the world before the truth could get its pants on.
ABOUT OUR GUEST:
Billy Dees is a native of Ohio and has spent his professional lifetime in audio, video, and media production.
More recently, Bill has turned his attention to digital media and incorporated much of his traditional media experience into digital media production. He enjoys working as a freelance audio/video editor and producer, voice-over artist, and podcaster.
Bill also works in the marketing department of a large nonprofit company as a multimedia specialist and is passionate about the agency’s mission to help the community. Bill is probably best known online from his podcast, the Billy Dees Podcast. The podcast has a wide spectrum of guests and includes political commentary.
You can find the podcast on your favorite podcasting platform and follow Bill on X (Twitter) @BillyDees.
On “Strange Bedfellows” we host interesting people from all sides of the political spectrum to find common ground across the partisan divide. A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed.

Israel: The Most Moral Army in the World? (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 29 w/ Arkady Itkin)
Tonight on Episode 29 of "Strange Bedfellows" we welcome back Arkady Itkin, former #IDF soldier and attorney to make the case for #Israel in prosecuting the war on #Hamas.
On Episode 28, our guest Na'omi Allen in South Africa discussed her country's case at the International Court Of Justice for #genocide against Israel.
Israelrespondedto the court that it was one of the first states to ratify the Genocide Convention and for Israel, the promise of “Never Again” is “the highest moral obligation.” Israel’s position is that Hamas is responsible for the situation in #Gaza and it accused South Africa of an “attempt to weaponize the term genocide.”
Genocide “stands alone amongst the violations of international law as the epitome and zenith of evil. It has been described correctly as the ‘crime of crimes,’ the ultimate in wickedness,” professor and U.K. lawyer Malcolm Shaw argued on behalf of Israel. Shaw said that Israel has the “most moral army in the world” and “does everything to avoid harming the uninvolved.”
Israelclaimed that while Hamas’s strategy is to “maximize civilian harm to both Israelis and Palestinians,” Israel “seeks to minimize” civilian harm.
Tal Becker, a legal adviser for Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the court that Hamas has “a practice of stealing and hoarding aid.” But Becker claimed there are “extensive Israeli efforts to mitigate civilian harm” and “humanitarian initiatives being undertaken to enable the flow of supplies and provide medical attention to the wounded.”
Becker maintained that “Israel is in a war of defense against Hamas — not against the people of #Palestine.”
Shaw asserted that “Israel has the right to defend itself in line with humanitarian law,” citing the inherent right to self-defense in the UN Charter and customary international law.
This week on "Strange Bedfellows," we will tap into Arkady Itkin's experience and expertise as an IDF soldier to find out if those claims are actually true.
Arkady Itkin was born in #Russia, grew up in #Israel, and currently lives in San Francisco, California, where he is a civil litigation attorney.
A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed on "Strange Bedfellows." Join us tonight from 9-11 P.M. Eastern live on YouTube, Rumble, Facebook, VK, and X (formerly Twitter).

Remembering Bill Hicks: 30 Years Later (Part 2)
Feb. 26 marked 30 years since Bill Hicks passed away.
Bill was a friend of mine back in the 80s/90s, and I hosted a live X Space Monday night in his honor.
Thought it might be fun to sit around the virtual campfire, tell some jokes, share some memories, and celebrate Bill’s life.
We played some clips of his best comedy bits, talked about all the amazing things Hicks accomplished in his short 32 years, and wonder what else he might have created had he lived 30 more.
Of course we couldn't refrain from some speculation about what Bill Hicks would think of our world today. His observations three decades ago are still remarkably relevant, and nearly all of the problems our country faced then still haven't been solved. (In fact, they've gotten worse!)
In Part 2, we hear Bill talking about the #JFK assassination, government conspiracies and cover-ups, lying politicians, gays in the military, and many more problems that we, as a society, still grapple with 30 years later.
The anti-intellectualism Bill talked about in 1989’s “Sane Man” comedy special was just a joke then….or was it?
35 years later, we aren’t laughing anymore. Did Bill have a crystal ball or what?
Did he have a time machine; or was he an alien who was visiting our planet only for 32 years, before the spaceship picked him up and took him home?
We talked about all that and more. If you missed this three-hour comedy special live, catch Part 2 tonight at 8 PM Eastern.
Join us for a night of love, laughter, and truth!

Israel on Trial (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 28) Guest: Na'omi Allen in South Africa
The United States has told the International Court of Justice (#ICJ) that it should not order the unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Palestinian territories without security guarantees.
The ICJ, also known as the World Court, heard arguments from about 50 countries this week on South Africa’s charges that #Israel is committing #genocide in #Palestine.
On Wednesday, the acting legal adviser for the US State Department, Richard Visek told the ICJ:
“The court should not find that Israel is legally obligated to immediately and unconditionally withdraw from occupied territory,” Visek said.
“Any movement towards Israel’s withdrawal from the West Bank and #Gaza requires consideration of Israel’s very real security needs.
“We were all reminded of those security needs on October 7, and they persist. Regrettably, those needs have been ignored by many of the participants,” he added, referring to the #Hamas attack on Israel that killed at least 1,139 people, according to an Al Jazeera tally based on official Israeli figures. Around 250 others were seized as hostages.
Israel responded to the attack with a devastating assault on Gaza that has killed more than 29,000 people, according to Palestinian authorities. The assault has reportedly displaced more than 80 percent of the population and reduced large parts of the territory to rubble.
This week on Episode 28 of “Strange Bedfellows” our guest is Na’omi Ducaena Allen, an American expat and history blogger living in South Africa.
Na’omi Allen is a U.S. Air Force Desert Storm veteran who also served as a Sensitive Duties Monitor in the D.C. Area during the Cold War. From both personal experience and years of research, she has a wealth of knowledge to share about #war and the history of wars.
We will discuss South Africa’s case against Israel at the #Hague, and her thoughts as a #Zionist on the alarming rise of #antisemitism in the wake of the 10-7 attacks.
Today also marks two years since #Russia invaded #Ukraine. Na’omi has written extensively about the history of Ukrainian nationalism and the #NazisInUkraine. She will tell us some fascinating stories about the Banderite collaboration with #Nazis in #WWII, and later, British and U.S. Intelligence during the #ColdWar.
We’ll take a deep dive into the reasons why both Ukrainian and Arab nationalists forged alliances with #Hitler, and the continuing influence of Nazism in both the Ukrainian and Palestinian liberation movements today.
A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed on “Strange Bedfellows.”

Trump's Troubles (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 27 w/ Tyler Nixon)
From allegations of plotting to overturn a lost election to illegally stowing classified documents at his Florida estate, former President Donald Trump faces four criminal indictments in four different cities as he vies to reclaim the White House.
The cases, totaling 91 felony counts, are winding through the courts at different speeds. Some might not reach trial this year, while one is set to begin in a matter of weeks.
Then there are the civil cases. On Friday a judge ordered the former president and his companies to pay nearly $355 million in a ruling in the New York civil fraud case, and barred #Trump from conducting business in New York for three years. A recent ruling in the E. Jean Carroll case will set Trump back yet another $83 million.
Meanwhile in Georgia, prosecutors on Friday called witnesses to push back on claims that a romantic relationship between Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis and Nathan Wade — the prosecutor she hired to lead her case against former president Donald Trump — should disqualify her. Trump and his co-defendants are seeking to have Willis removed from the case over the relationship.
At this point, we need a team of lawyers just to keep up with Trump’s court calendar, and the litany of lawsuits he’s juggling. So we called one of the best legal analysts we know to break all this down for our viewers.
This week on “Strange Bedfellows” it’s a pleasure to welcome back to the show Tyler Nixon, longtime friend to and personal attorney for Roger Stone. He is also a the host of “The Tyler Nixon Show” on the TNT Radio Network.
We last saw Tyler on Episode 16 of “Strange Bedfellows” in October 2023.
Tyler Nixon attended Georgetown University and The University of Virginia Law School, served in the U.S. Army’s Berlin Brigade and did a tour of combat duty in the first Iraq war. Later, he served as a staff assistant to former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, worked on the presidential transition team for President George W. #Bush in 2001, and on #Republican Ron Paul’s presidential campaign in 2008.
Nixon is an Army Infantry Veteran, #Conservative, Constitutionalist, Advocate, Writer, Technologist, Critical Historian, and a self-described “extremist in the defense of liberty.”
Tonight we will get Tyler’s legal analysis on Trump’s latest legal troubles, hash out that rumor of a Trump/#Kennedy ticket that keeps going around, plus a whole lot more.
A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed on “Strange Bedfellows.”

The Siege of Leningrad and Burt Lancaster's "Unknown War"
The Russian city of St. Petersburg on Saturday marked the 80th anniversary of the end of a devastating World War II siege by Nazi forces with a series of memorial events attended by Russian President Vladimir #Putin and close allies. #Leningrad80
The #Kremlin leader laid flowers at a monument to fallen Soviet defenders of the city, then called #Leningrad, on the banks of the Neva River, and then at Piskarevskoye Cemetery, where hundreds of thousands of siege victims are buried.
On Saturday afternoon, Putin was joined by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Gatchina, a town outside #StPetersburg that once housed camps for Soviet prisoners of war, for the unveiling of a statue commemorating civilians killed during the Nazi onslaught.
The Red Army broke the nearly two-and-a-half year blockade on Jan. 19, 1943, after more than 900 days of fierce fighting. Estimates of the death toll vary, but historians agree that more than 1 million Leningrad residents perished from hunger, or air and artillery bombardments, during the siege.
It is estimated that over 600,000 Leningrad residents died of hunger -- far more than died from bombs or artillery fire.
Putin was born and raised in Leningrad, and his #WWII veteran father suffered wounds while fighting for the city. Putin's elder brother died of starvation at the age of two. He is buried in a mass grave, where the president lays a ceremonial wreath every year.
On this 80th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from the #Nazis, we will take you on a deep dive into the history of that historic battle and show you some incredible footage from the Soviet and German archives that Westerners rarely ever see.
In 1978, actor Burt Lancaster co-produced a 20-part documentary series about World War Two on the Eastern front called "The Unknown War."
The series was produced with the help of the Soviet Union, who opened their private archives of footage captured by Red Army photographers during the war for this production. Nearly four million feet of raw film footage was stored alongside German films captured by the Allies after the war for 35 years but never exhibited to the public -- until "The Unknown War" showed it to the world for the first time.
In this special report, we will show you excerpts from this mammoth 20-part series specific to the Battle for Leningrad, and tell you the amazing backstory of Burt Lancaster's personal mission to make this historic film documenting WWII like you've never seen it before.
Tune in tonight at 9 PM Eastern for the premiere.

Why Did MLK Support Israel
Today is Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday and #MLKDay in the United States.
Each year, American #Jews, like all Americans, mark #MLK Day by remembering him as a powerful voice against racism and for civil rights. But, for Jews, Dr. King was also something else: a uniquely important ally in the fight against #antisemitism and for a secure #Israel.
Today, Dr. King’s close bond with the Jewish community is treated only as a small footnote of his life and work. But, toward the end of his life, Dr. King devoted significant time and energy to strengthening what were becoming increasingly strained ties between Black Americans and U.S. Jews.
One issue Dr. King was particularly concerned with was the growing mischaracterization of #Zionism as #racism.
Dr. King spoke and wrote often about Israel. However, the true depth of Dr. King’s commitment to Israel was readily apparent in a September, 1967 letter he sent to Adolph Held, then president of the organization I now lead, the #Jewish Labor Committee.
Dr. King wrote Held after the Jewish leader contacted him regarding press accounts of a conference that Dr. King’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference participated in. At the meeting, strongly worded resolutions blasting Zionism and embracing the position of the Arab powers had been considered.
Understanding Held’s worries, Dr. King explained that, beyond offering opening remarks, he had no part in the conference. But, Dr. King said, had he been present during the discussion of the resolutions “I would have made it crystal clear that I could not have supported any resolution calling for Black separatism or calling for a condemnation of Israel and an unqualified endorsement of the policy of the Arab powers.”
“Israel’s right to exist as a state is incontestable,” Dr. King wrote. He then added, almost prophetically, “At the same time the great powers have the obligation to recognize that the Arab world is in a state of imposed poverty and backwardness that must threaten peace and harmony.”
Referring to the stake U.S. oil companies have in the Middle East, Dr. King went on to note that “some Arab feudal rulers are no less concerned for oil wealth and neglect the plight of their own peoples. The solution will have to be found in statesmanship by Israel and progressive Arab forces who in concert with the great powers recognize fair and peaceful solutions are the concern of all humanity and must be found.”
Were Dr. King’s comments to Held intended only to soothe a miffed supporter? Hardly.
In a March 25, 1968, speech to the Rabbinical Assembly, Dr. King said: “peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity. I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality.”
Ten days later, on April 4, Dr. King was murdered while organizing support for striking sanitation workers in Memphis, TN.
In this highlight from Episode 24 of "Strange Bedfellows" I discuss the pro-Israel legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King with my friend on the other side of the conflict, Caleb Maupin -- a #communist who supports #Palestine -- who is also a great admirer of Dr. King.
Happy MLK Day! Let his legacy be an inspiration to find peace for all mankind, everywhere.
