Canada's NAZIGATE Scandal: Panel Discussion with George Galloway, Patrick Henningsen, Niall McCrae
On September 22, as Ukrainian president #Zelensky was visiting #Canada, a special honor was given in Parliament to a man named Yaroslav Hunka.
President #Zelensky -- and all 338 members of the Canadian Parliament -- rose to their feet and honored this 98 year-old Ukrainian with not one, but two standing ovations.
Little did they know he was a Nazi collaborator in #WWII (or so they said).
As it turns out, Hunka served with pride in the dreaded #Waffen-SS, #Galicia division -- a unit known for its especially savage brutality in war crimes of the #Holocaust.
How did this former Nazi find safe haven in Canada all these many decades? How could Prime Minister Justin #Trudeau, and every member of Parliament NOT know his background? Now that the Speaker of the House of Commons has resigned, who will be next? And what will be the ultimate impact of this incident in the future of this war between #Ukraine and #Russia?
We unpack that and more in this #No2NATONo2War panel discussion with George Galloway, Patrick Henningsen, and Niall McCrae.
Original air date in the U.K.: September 28, 2023.

Yaroslav Hunka's Mein Kampf (with George Galloway)
Yaroslav Hunka, the 98 year-old Ukrainian Nazi who was honored by the Canadian Parliament and Ukrainian President #Zelensky with not one, but two standing ovations last week, published his manifesto online back in 2011.
This is Hunka's Mein Kampf -- the story of his struggle against the #communists; the evil Red Russians; the detested Poles, and his Jewish neighbors in #Ukraine.
I discovered Hunka's memoir of his youthful years learning how to kill from his heroes in the notorious UPA, Stepan #Bandera's OUN-B, welcoming the German #Nazis "with joy" when they occupied his village in 1941, and his pride in joining the #Waffen-SS, #Galicia Division.
On this edition of #No2NATONo2War with George Galloway, I read some shocking excerpts from Hunka's memoir aloud.

The Fairness Doctrine: Should We Bring it Back?
2024 presidential candidate Robert F. #Kennedy, Jr. says that if elected, he would restore the Fairness Doctrine and update it for the internet media age.
In this highlight from "Strange Bedfellows" Episode 14, Rick and I discussed the Fairness Doctrine -- an American law in effect from 1928-1986 requiring the media to present both sides of every story.
We argue that since the Fairness Doctrine was abolished by President #Reagan, journalism has fallen into the predictable trap of partisan propaganda rather than actual news.
In theory, we agree with #RFKJr that the Fairness Doctrine needs a return, but how would it work in the 21st Century when most people get their news from independent media online? The internet news media isn't regulated by the FCC, so how could the government possibly enforce it without veering into #censorship?
We discuss all that and more here.

Strange Bedfellows (Ep. 15) with Caleb Maupin
We are pleased to welcome Caleb Maupin back to "Strange Bedfellows" this week.
Maupin is an author, reporter for RT television (#Russia), historian, political activist, and founder of the Center for Political Innovation (CPI).
Tonight we will be interviewing Caleb about his latest book, "Letter to Bob Avakian." In this carefully written letter, Caleb Maupin both praises and critiques the leader of a small #communist sect in the United States. He also reveals some information that explains the organization's strange activities over the years and ties to French intelligence.
We will also be talking about Caleb's reporting on the United Nations for RT television, and take a look at his recent interviews with Ebrahim Raisithe, President of #Iran. We'll also show you his latest exchange with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei #Lavrov.
Caleb is the latest to feel the sting of YouTube #censorship due to his work with the Russian TV network. This week the platform removed more than 100 videos from Maupin's channel. All of the #censored videos were reports he has done for RT in the past, and in some instances the videos were several years old. We will discuss that, and the recent sweep of video removals from other channels that allegedly present "Russian propaganda."
We'll dive into the #NaziGate scandal in #Canada, and get Caleb's thoughts on the Canadian Parliament's bizarre glorification of #Nazism in the House of Commons last Friday when they gave honors -- and two standing ovations -- to former Waffen-SS Ukrainian nationalist #Nazi Yaroslav Hunka while #Ukraine's president #Zelensky was in attendance.
Finally, we will seek Caleb's perspective as a communist historian on the rising tide of #fascism, antisemitism and anti-communism in the 21st Century, and get his thoughts on where all this is leading: World War Three? #Genocide? Mass executions of #communists? Another #Holocaust?
Don't miss this fascinating interview! Join us from 9-11 P.M. Saturday night for Episode 15 of the "Strange Bedfellows" podcast.

David Brinkley: The Gold Standard of News
On Episode 14 of "Strange Bedfellows" we paid tribute to broadcast news legend David Brinkley on the 20th anniversary of his death.
To my mind, Brinkley was always the gold standard of journalism -- no one has matched or surpassed him since. (And probably, no one ever will.)
In this segment I'll show you some of Brinkley's masterful historic coverage of events like: Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution of January 1959, the 1960 Democratic National Convention, the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, the assassination of #JFK, and more.
We will also discuss David Brinkley's remarkable life and 60 year career in journalism.
It's an inspiring story, not just for journalists (or those who aspire to this once-noble profession), but for everyone who appreciates fair, honest, responsible journalism -- the way it used to be -- the way only David Brinkley could do it.

Journalism Is A Public Service
In this highlight from Episode 14 of "Strange Bedfellows" Rick Walker and I compare notes on our 35 year careers in broadcast news, and discuss why we wanted to become journalists in the first place.
We share some personal stories of our first forays into journalism, play samples of our early work, and talk about our heroes and mentors who inspired us.
Despite the corporate consolidation of radio and television stations and the partisan nature of all media today, we still believe that news should never be about profits or celebrity status. Journalism is a public service.
At Maverick News that's what we aim to bring our viewers: news that is accurate, responsible, and meaningful.
We hope you will reward our efforts with a donation. Our independent journalism is entirely crowdfunded. We work for YOU, the public.

The Death of Broadcast News: Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 14
Tonight at 9 P.M. Eastern on "Strange Bedfellows" we discuss the Death of Broadcast News on Episode 14 and take a look back at some of the legends who personified excellence.
This week, my Maverick News co-host Rick Walker and I are taking a break from current events and instead looking back in time at some of the pioneers of broadcast journalism. Watching them in our formative years taught us everything we know. (And there is still much they can teach journalists today.)
It will be 40 years next month since the tragic death of NBC News anchorwoman Jessica Savitch.
Savitch died in an automobile accident at the height of her career in October, 1983. (As an aspiring young journalist Jessica was my hero.) We will show you some highlights from her life, and talk about how Savitch struggled against the male-dominated newsroom culture of the 1970s and 1980s. We'll discuss why Savitch still fascinates, even 40 years later.
We will also pay tribute to TV news legend David Brinkley on the 20th anniversary of his passing, look back at his best moments from the dawn of television news in the late 1940s through the "Huntley-Brinkley Report" of the 1950s and 60s, and his remarkable career at NBC and later, ABC News. We will show you why David Brinkley was the gold standard of broadcast news -- a standard so high, it can probably never be matched.
Brinkley and Savitch were (and still are) my two greatest influences in journalism. We will tip our hats to both of these giants on this special edition of “Strange Bedfellows” Saturday night, and talk about the impact they had on our own long careers in broadcast news.
Walter Cronkite, Roger Mudd, Frank McGee, Hugh Downs, Chet Huntley, Barbara Walters, Frank Reynolds and more appear in this exploration of “old school” journalism.
We will discuss why the mainstream media lost the public’s trust, and most importantly, how to get it back.
Rick and I spent 35 years in the corporate news media. We worked in this industry at a time when news reporting was still objective and unbiased, before the Fairness Doctrine was abolished by President Ronald #Reagan in the 1980s. We'll talk about why that -- and President Clinton's Telecommunications Act of 1996 -- destroyed the integrity of broadcast news.
At Maverick News we still believe that honest, straightforward reporting is the best kind.
If you agree, join us Saturday night for a special edition of “Strange Bedfellows.”
We will play you some examples of what we consider great broadcast journalism from the greats who inspired us to devote our lives to this public service — because news is supposed to be, above all, a service to the public...not corporate profit-driven infotainment, partisan narrative-pushing, government propaganda, or social media clickbait.
We have a few surprises for you as well: some embarrassing old tapes from the archives of our own careers proving just how old we are! (yes, I even have tapes of my coverage from the Reagan administration!).
Join us for a powerful show that will bring back some memories for our older viewers, teach the younger ones, and and we'll have some great laughs, too!

Strange Bedfellows Ep. 13: Gunman Arrested at RFK Jr. Speech in Los Angeles
A gunman posing as a federal agent was arrested Friday at the Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles before #RFKJr arrived to give a planned speech. The unidentified man told arresting officers that he had been hired by the venue as private security for the event.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s department and the #Kennedy24 campaign confirmed the arrest and that the man had a gun and ammunition on him.
No other information is being released about his identity or motives at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. posted the following statement on social media, along with a close-up photo of the alleged gunman's face.
"I’m very grateful that alert and fast-acting protectors from Gavin de Becker and Associates (GDBA) spotted and detained an armed man who attempted to approach me at my Hispanic Heritage speech at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles tonight," #Kennedy wrote.
"The man, wearing two shoulder holsters with loaded pistols and spare ammunition magazines was carrying a U.S. Marshal badge on a lanyard and beltclip federal ID. He identified himself as a member of my security detail.
Armed GDBA team members moved quickly to isolate and detain the man until LAPD arrived to make the arrest. I’m also grateful to LAPD for its rapid response.
I’m still entertaining a hope that President Biden will allow me Secret Service protection. I am the first presidential candidate in history to whom the White House has denied a request for protection.
Mr. Kennedy’s speech went on as planned Friday night after the armed man was taken away.
The alleged gunman was arrested before Kennedy arrived at the venue.
Ironically the Wilshire Theatre is not far from the former location of the Ambassador Hotel, where #RFK was fatally shot in 1968.
A photo from the September 15th speech in Los Angeles about the border crisis.
The Los Angeles Police Department told local affiliate NBC4 that the man in question did not point the weapon at anyone but was arrested on a gun charge and for impersonating a U.S. marshal. The incident happened around 4:30 p.m., the LAPD said.
The LAPD said it, not the Federal Bureau of Investigation, will handle the case.
Remarkably the local ABC news affiliate did not find a potential assassination attempt on a presidential candidate named Kennedy in Los Angeles newsworthy. They devoted an entirety of 15 seconds to the story on the nightly news.
We at Maverick News DO find this story to be very important, and will give it the coverage it deserves (unlike the national mainstream media, which is not covering it at all).
Tonight Rick Walker and I will talk about it in-depth on the Strange Bedfellows podcast, and bring you the latest updates. This is still a developing story.

Independent Run for RFK Jr? (Kennedy Americans Podcast, Ep. 11)
Episode 11 of the "Kennedy Americans" podcast is curated from a Sept. 11 Twitter (now X) Space about the Democratic National Committee's efforts to block presidential candidate Robert F. #Kennedy Jr.'s path to the nomination.
(Episode 11 taking place on 9/11 is rather creepy, but I swear I didn't plan it that way!)
My co-host is Nick Brana, national chair of the People's Party. Brana is a former #Bernie 2016 staffer who witnessed firsthand all the shenanigans the #Democrats pulled to keep Sen. Sanders from winning. He says they're doing it again to #RFK -- only worse this time.
Mr. Kennedy now says he is considering "other alternatives," such as a third party or Independent run for the White House. We asked our panel which party, if any, #RFK should run with, and if he could win outside the two-party system.
We asked YOUR thoughts in a new X poll. Hurry up and vote before it closes here:
https://x.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1700054214880133166?s=20
As an update to our previous podcasts (Episodes 6 & 7 of "Kennedy Americans") about the #censorship of RFK Jr., I'll give you the latest on the Kennedy vs. #Biden lawsuit -- now joined with Missouri vs. Biden -- which won a victory in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals last week.
We also discuss #RFKJr's call to action for his supporters to participate in a #September11 Day of Service and Remembrance, and what Americans did for their country on this solemn anniversary.
We then open the floor to get opinions from the listening audience, asking if it's time for Kennedy to #DemExit and run #Republican, third party, or Independent.

Strange Bedfellows Ep. 12: Dems Declare WAR on RFK; Cornel West Falls Down
Tonight on Episode 12 of "Strange Bedfellows" my guest is Jay Sadler, host of the Jay Scott Ascension podcast.
A former #Democrat (now turned Independent), Jay is currently volunteering for the #RFKJr campaign, because he says he believes that #Kennedy stands the best chance at unifying America and moving the country in the right direction.
Although Jay and I are in many aspects political opposites (I'm a longtime #libertarian), we work together on the #Kennedy24 campaign and in the process have become great friends.
Ultimately, we both want the same thing: to restore our country's fundamental principles of freedom, with economic prosperity and equality for all.
Jay says that if Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wasn't in the presidential race, he likely would have supported Dr. Cornel West's campaign, and explains why Dr. West hit all the right notes with him.
I'll ask Jay if his feelings about Dr. West have changed after the Green Party candidate's disastrous interview on the Jimmy Dore Show this week, which Dore called "a 45-minute advertisement for Joe #Biden."
We also discuss those outrageous new rule changes the Democratic National Committee plans to implement which, if adopted, would effectively stop #RFK's campaign in its tracks.
In an interview with Forbes Thursday, #Kennedy said for the first time since his campaign began that he is now exploring "other alternatives" to the Democratic Party - because the #Democrats are leaving him no choice.
Should Kennedy dump the Dems and run with another political party? And which party would be his best bet? Or should he declare his Independence and have no party affiliation at all?
We explore that and a whole lot more this week on "Strange Bedfellows."

Nazism in Ukraine Today: Russian U.N. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy Interview, Part 3
Our “Best of Maverick News” series continues with this classic from the archives.
(Original air date: March 5, 2023)
In Part 2 of our interview with #Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy, he gave a detailed history of how Ukrainian nationalism first emerged hundreds of years ago, why they developed an unholy alliance with #Nazi Germany in the 20th Century, and later worked hand-in-hand with Western intelligence services such as the CIA and Britain’s MI6.
Tonight, in Part 3, we discuss the prevalence of #Nazism in #Ukraine in the 21st Century, starting with that often-asked question: “how can President #Zelensky be a Nazi if he’s Jewish?”
We learn why Ukraine officially celebrates Nazi war collaborators such as Stepan #Bandera as national heroes today, why they still have racial purity laws and teach eugenics race theory in schools.
Ambassador Polyanskiy also explains how all of the Ukrainian #Nazis escaped prosecution at #Nuremberg after #WWII: they were recruited and protected by Western intelligence, who used them to fight the #USSR during the #ColdWar.
And what about the notorious “kill list” Ukraine publishes online of it’s enemies, marking those they’ve killed as “liquidated?”
Ambassador Polyanskiy is on the list, along with numerous other American, British, and Canadians. We talk about the recent addition of NBC News correspondent Keir Simmons, whose name was placed on the Ukrainian state-linked ‘Mirotvorets’ (Peacemaker) hit list for his reporting in #Crimea.
We asked Ambassador Polyanskiy to respond to allegations of Russian interference in American and Canadian elections (aka the “#Russiagate” hoax).
Russia recently introduced a draft resolution to the U.N. Security Council calling for an independent investigation of what happened to the Nord Stream pipelines. We ask Ambassador Polyanskiy to explain Russia’s position on the #Nordstream explosions: mechanical malfunction or sabotage?
We go back in time to the last time the US blew up a Russian pipeline carrying natural gas to Europe — in 1982, when the CIA sabotaged the Trans-Siberian Pipeline, and ask the Ambassador his thoughts on it. Was the Trans-Siberian pipeline sabotage a blueprint for Nordstream, exactly 40 years later?
Finally, Ambassador Polyanskiy addresses the nuclear warmongering, and clarifies Russia’s doctrine for the use of nuclear weapons.

History of Ukrainian Nationalism: Russian U.N. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy Interview, Part 2
In part 2 of our interview with Dmitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations for the Russian Federation, we take a deep dive into the history of Ukrainian nationalism -- the roots of the current conflict between #Ukraine and #Russia.
Ambassador Polyanskiy explains that the #UkraineWar didn't start in 2022, or even in 2014. It started hundreds of years ago.
Polyanskiy details the FULL story of how the Ukrainian nationalists came to collaborate with #Nazi Germany before #WWII -- an incredible story you've probably never heard before.
He outlines the 10 core principals of Ukrainian nationalism: what they believe, why they consider Russians their enemy, and the deep #Russophobia that led them to slaughter tens of thousands of Russians during #WWI and the Russian Civil War period of 1919-21.
The ethnic cleansing of #communists following the #Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, Jews, Hungarians, and Poles was again repeated during the #Holocaust of #WWII by the #NazisInUkraine.
The Ukrainian nationalists were the original #Nazis, years before there was a Nazi Party in Germany; long before anyone ever heard of Adolf #Hitler. "Ukrainians were some of the first promoters of this racial theory," Polyanskiy explains. "It just so happened that the Germans were thinking along the same lines at the same time, and had the same enemies. So they were destined to be natural allies."
Their slogan was -- and still is -- "Ukraine for Ukrainians," enforced by strict racial purity laws (which still exist in Ukraine), eugenics, and enforced careful breeding to create their own "master race." All other inferior races must be exterminated.
Ambassador Polyanskiy explains how Nazi war criminal Stepan #Bandera became known as a national hero in today's Ukraine, and his work for Western intelligence services (Britain's MI6 and the CIA) after World War II and during the Cold War.
"Many Westerners do not understand this history," #Polyanskiy says. "But it is vital to our understanding of where we are today, and why this conflict is happening now."
Watch part 2 of this incredibly interesting interview below.
Part 3 premiers Friday, September 8. (See all interviews with Ambassador Polyanskiy in my Dmitry Polyanskiy playlist on YouTube.)

The Cold War Never Ended: Russian U.N. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy Interview, Part 1
On this “Best of Maverick News” episode we welcomed Dmitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations from #Russia for an in-depth interview.
In Part 1, we talk about the era of #Gorbachev, #Reagan, and #Perestroika; the fall of the Soviet Union, and those hopeful post-Cold War years when it seemed that the United States and Russia could at last enjoy peace and friendship with each other.
“I thought it was the moment of our common triumph,” Ambassador Polyanskiy says of the end of the Cold War a generation ago.
“Winds of Change…like that song by the Scorpions when they performed it in #Moscow. We had very high hopes. We thought that #NATO might be dissolved, or that there would be no more NATO expansion. But, as it turns out, we were deceived by the West. This sense of victory was stolen from us.”
“We believed in empty promises,” Polyanskiy explained. “Most of those promises were coming from the United States, who wasn’t going to keep them.”
“We did everything in our power to avoid the situation in #Ukraine that’s happening now,” the Ambassador said, “we did not ever want this to escalate militarily.”
Ambassador Polyanskiy stresses that the conflict didn’t begin in 2022. It started long before the Maidan coup of 2014. Western meddling in Ukraine began in the early Cold War period, when the CIA and Britain’s MI6 worked with Ukrainian nationalist #Nazi collaborators such as Stepan #Bandera attempting to create regime change in Soviet Russia — these efforts continue to the present day.
Despite the Cold War ending more than 30 years ago, “The United States never abandoned the dream of tearing Ukraine and other former Soviet Republics away from Russia, and creating a sense of emnity between nations that once were all brothers,” he says.
“To fully understand why Russia is doing this Special Military Operation, you really must understand the roots of the problem,” Polyanskiy said. “So that we can work together to solve this crisis.”
