Predator's Endgame - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Predator's Endgame".
Map author: Osiris
Map review:
Predator's Endgame is one third of the three Endgame missions; the others being for alien and marine. The predator version of the map is probably the worst of the three simply because there are not many opportunities for stealth in the map design layout and you have very limited weapons at your disposal. Your goal as the predator is to reach the end of the map and defeat the queen. Once at the end of the map, you will get your other weapons, but for the first 90% of the map you won't even get to use those weapons. Overall, it's not terrible, but the limited weapons hinders the enjoyment of the map. This of course, can be remedied with cheat codes if you choose to use them.

Map review:
In this map, the player takes control as a predator going through a series of boxy-looking outdoor areas. Throughout the map, the player encounters several aliens and human enemies. Unfortunately, the enemies are all stationary and don't really move much even when shot at. The map looks like a first attempt at map making (which it is). Thus, it lacks all polish. There are several texture issues going on in the map, as well as a lack of a true sky box. I actually "hit" the sky at the start of the map. There is also no real ending or exit trigger to the map. I found myself coming across a ship in the final room with nothing else to do, so I exited out the game.

Precipice - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Precipice".
Map author: Phil 'Windebieste' Wlodarczyk
Map review:
Precipice is one of the smallest skirmish maps one can play in AvP2. In the map, the player spawns as a human on a small island floating in the sky. The island has some vegetation, crumbling ruins and a bunch of aliens attacking the player. The difficulty is rather high due to the player being in such close quarters with a swarm of aliens. To make it more difficult, ammo and weapons are very limited. There is a smartgun in the center of the map, but it immediately spawns a facehugger which makes it not worth retrieving. It's definitely a fun map, but tough to survive long on.

Place of Death - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Place of Death".
Map author: Corporal Hicks.
Map review:
Place of Death is a map that is included in "Custom Map Pack 4". The map comes in two versions; one being a multiplayer skirmish and the other being a singleplayer skirmish. Both versions of the map are identical except for one crucial difference, that being there are no weapons, ammo or pickups of any kind in the singleplayer version. The map is obviously a skirmish version of alesserfate, but it doesn't matter because the moment you spawn you are doomed to lose.
I don't know if the author of the map forgot to place the power ups and pickups on the map, or if AcidGlow (the person who put the map pack together) screwed up by adding a multiplayer map to the singleplayer maps. Regardless, avoid this map completely and get the map "Skirmish Alesserfate" if you want this type of map to actually function correctly.

OPP1 - Of Gods & Monsters - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)

Map author: Windebieste
Download:
https://www.gamefront.com/games/aliens-vs-predator-2/file/opp1-of-gods-monsters-version-1-2
Map review:
OPP1 was the first map for the Open Pyramid Project, a series of maps based on the original AvP movie. While there were other maps based on the AvP movie, none of them kept this OPP naming system. Like the AvP Movie, this map features the underground stone ruins with aliens running amok. The player controls the predator and starts with just the wristblades. There is a short period of time for the player to start gathering weapons before the aliens attack the player. Weapon selection is limited to non-tracking weapons (unless there are other weapons that are very hidden that I didn't spot) and the number of aliens attacking is high. This is a skirmish map and the aliens will continuously attack the player.
Due to the predator taking a long time to heal between waves of alien attacks, the difficulty for this map is very high. The map's doors, as in the movie, periodically open and close every few minutes. The player can manage to survive a bit longer if the aliens find themselves stuck behind a door as the player navigates the ruins. Difficulty is still tough though. It should be noted that the map features custom electrovision skins for the aliens (not shown as I didn't use the vision modes). I found these skins to make the map more difficult to play, as the aliens appear as a dark green against a dark green background for the vision mode. They blend too well to easily spot enemies.
Aside from the vision mode, this is a fun but tough map. Fans of the Under the Hunter's Moon campaign should give this map a shot as it has a similar experience.
Note: I'm using some HD textures via Yaji's High Quality Resolution Textures v2 and my Blood n' Guts mod for the gore.

NekroSanktum - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "NekroSanktum".
Map author: Phil 'Windebieste' Wlodarczyk
Map review:
NekroSanktum is somewhat of a spiritual successor to the map Morlock. Like its predecessor, it too is a marine based skirmish map sharing a hellish-lair look. However, NekroSanktum is a far more challenging map in that the player is placed above numerous lava pits and must navigate cramped corridors. This of course creates incredible difficulty in evading the enemy aliens attacking the player. It is very tough to survive long on this map, so quick save often. Those up for a challenge should definitely give it a try.

Nazi Zombies - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Nazi Zombies".
Map author: Rasirez
Story:
"You are Harkman Ridiger, being employed by the 'company' for off-world engineering at special locations, it is your job to restore the power array and pipeline functionality at the NZ#03 base... but is that all?"
Map review:
Nazi Zombies is a tower defense/skirmish style map where the player must defend the base from attacking aliens. Friendly ai and turrets are present to help you out a bit, but it is extremely hard to survive for long periods of time as there is very limited health pick ups for the marine. The player can choose to play as a predator if they select the spear. The friendly ai will also transform into friendly predator ai. Health regeneration is even tougher as a predator as the enemy aliens are relentless.
The author claims the map is version 0.2 alpha and intended to release a future update with the aliens attacking in waves instead of a non-stop attack as in this version of the map. Unfortunately, this was the last update of the map. Regardless of that, Nazi Zombies is a fun map for those who like skirmish style maps.

Morpheus Base - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Morpheus Base".

Map review:
This is an unfinished map with doom-styled narrow corridors that are filled with aliens. It's fun for a quick playthrough, but it is obvious that it needed a bit more polish and more rooms to be 100% completed. When the player reaches the "end" of the map, the player is stuck and is forced to quit to exit the game.

Morlock - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Morlock".
Map author: Phil 'Windebieste' Wlodarczyk
Map review:
Morlock is a rather challenging human-based map, that can be played either as a skirmish map or with a mission objective of obtaining the exosuit. At the start of the map, the player needs to choose one of three difficulties by opening the ammo box corresponding to the entrance ladder to levels below ground. Harder difficulties have more aliens and less ammo. Once underground the player must puzzle solve in figuring out where the switches are to open the corresponding doors if they want to progress. Once the player reaches the surface, they will get the exosuit and fight a queen to the death. There is no real "ending" per say, so the player can either keep fighting the respawning aliens or quit at that point.
Personally, I've found the map to be very difficult when not knowing where to go. Once I figured out where the switches and booby traps were, the map became far more manageable. Nevertheless, it's a fun map.

Metrostation - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Metrostation".
Map author: {AERO} Gps (with unfinished maps from The Flying Scotman and Hevoc)
Map review:
Metrostation is a huge map consisting of at least two maps joined together. The major sections of the map consist of a subway, a sewer, a temple, an industrial area and a hive. While the map looks cool, it feels very lifeless. Sound is almost non-existent unless you run into enemies. There are no ambient sounds, music, etc. This made the experience of the map feel very dull.
There are plenty of enemies to combat though. The aliens will typically spawn as you approach every corner. This becomes quickly repetitive. The predator ai spawns are much more interesting and difficult to combat. This map is supposed to include various mission objectives as indicated in the readme, such as rescuing your fellow marines. The primary objective is to eliminate the queen and escape on the apc. These objectives never showed up for me during my playthrough. Furthermore, the other marines and apc never spawned.
I know other players have received the mission objectives and had the marines and apc spawn. I don't know if this map is glitched or if there is a non-glitched version of the map as well. I tried replaying the map and I still experienced the glitched version each time. So if you play this map, maybe you will experience a slightly better experience if it loads correctly?
Metrostation is not a terrible map by any means. The map comes off as lacking some polish and maybe a bit of bug testing. Give it a try.

Maze2 - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Maze2".
Map author: HHO.
Map review:
"Maze2" is the second of the few maze maps included with HHO's Frosty Aliens Predators - Special Edition (aka FAP_SE). Once again the player spawns as a marine and must navigate the maze to find the exit. While the "Maze1" map had a hedge maze style to it, "Maze2" comes off as a maze/obstacle course hybrid. At the start and end of the map, the player will navigate very narrow tunnels that force the player to conquer various obstacles that immediately kill the player upon failure. Thus, it is recommended to quick save often. The middle section of the map has an alien hive maze, a glass floor maze and a few rooms require the player to teleport via warps.
The majority of the maze has very little npcs to deal with. The majority of them are facehuggers that come from eggs that can be avoided if they are destroyed. The remaining npcs are predators (a few of which sneak attack the player), a few drone aliens and a few corporates. One of these corporates is invincible as he can regenerate health and chase the player after he gets back up from falling. The biggest difficulty hurdle is easily clearing some obstacles. While I played this map previously, I had forgotten how to clear some of the jumps over acid pools. Therefore, I took many attempts to get it right.
It should be noted that a few sections of Maze2 (the spike wall trap, the hive and predator cage with Jones) are reused in the POD expansion levels of the map FAP_SE. Overall Maze2 is a lot of fun. There aren't many maps that present obstacles to the player and force the player to think of their approach. More maps like this are needed.

Maze1 - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Maze1".
Map author: HHO.
Map review:
"Maze1" is the first of a few maze maps included with HHO's Frosty Aliens Predators - Special Edition (aka FAP_SE). In this map player spawns as a marine and is placed into a maze with the entrance closed off (perhaps by a predator?). The goal, like most mazes, is to reach the exit. The maze is really a hedge maze with various arrow signs posted around the hedges. These arrows actually point the correct path the player should take, so it is not hard to get lost. The real challenge here are the enemies. There are a few corporates and facehuggers which are easy pickings. There is one drone alien that can instantly kill the player if spawned. The predators can sometimes get the jump on the player at times too.
However, there are two infinitely regenerating npcs that can't be killed. One is a beat up-looking marine and the other is a synthetic with a rocket launcher. These two are nightmares to beat. Once they are "killed" they will fall to the floor and slowly get back up to chase the player as if nothing happened. The marine will normally chase the player through most of the hedge maze once he is free from his cell. For whatever reason, he lightly followed me and wasn't much of a problem in my playthrough. The synthetic was another story though, as he was ruthless. To finish the map, the player must use the blowtorch on a keypad and exit the big cell doors that he entered. This part is a little bit confusing but that's the ending.
It should be noted that there is a second version of this map called "Maze1Keep". It is basically the same exact map with minor props, like crates and boxes moved around and a few different facehugger spawns. Since it is really the same map I will not record it as it's 99% identical.
Maze1 is a bit of challenge and is worth a look at it if the player is looking for more difficult ai to face. There is enjoyment to be had here.

Map review:
Marine's Endgame is one third of the three Endgame missions; the others being for alien and predator. The marine version of the map is a pretty standard map. Your goal is to make it to the evacuation point, which is at the end of the map. Along the way you will encounter a variety of enemies, but primarily aliens and some POC guards. A synth with a sniper rifle may be the toughest part in the map to get past. Fun map.

LV-666_Infestation - AvP2 Custom Map Campaign(Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map campaign titled "LV-666_Infestation".
Map author: Hamm3R
Map review:
Infestation is one of the more unique campaigns in that it uses completely new voice acting from AvP2 players. The voice acting is a bit hit and miss, but I find it amusing how the accents are applied to certain characters such as poc guards and corporates. The player, is also given new voice dialogue, plays as a corporate/merc. The level design is very reminiscent of depot, alesserfate and some of the early singleplayer missions, albeit more open.
However, it is not the voice acting that stands out for me, but it is the difficulty of the enemy ai. The aliens all appeared beefed up in health, able to withstand extra gunfire. Hamm3r, as in his Limpboy map, makes the aliens here extra aggressive in that they are very prone to head-biting upon pouncing. The predator ai is insanely absurd in how strong they are and immune to de-cloaking with emp attacks. It felt like it took ages to defeat many of the predators, especially the heavy predator. The ally npcs are essentially useless as they hardly harm any enemies and usually can't shoot straight.
Despite the absurd health boosts of some of the enemies, Infestation is a fun campaign that is worthy of a play. Just make sure you quick save often.

Limpboy - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Limpboy".
Map author: Hammer aka Hamm3r.
Map review:
Limpboy is an ok corporate-based map. In Limpboy, you play as Ivan. There are no missions as you just have to get to end of the level. This is fine, but it is a very short map. Limpboy is really a preview of what Hamm3r was experimenting with at the time in his lead up to his Infestation campaign. The level layout is the typical Weyland-Yutani style corridors and rooms. Just be sure to not pass the ammo box at the start of the map as it contains the hacking tool. It's a really odd place for the ammo box to be.
Hamm3r is known for scripting highly aggressive alien ai which pounce at you often with lots of sneak attacks. In replaying this map I had forgotten where the aliens strike. At 2:14 I saw a grate and thought, hmm I bet an alien would jump out there. Even with my suspicion, I still jumped when the runner pounced out. I recommend playing this map before Infestation as a warmup.

Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled Leadworks Alien aka LeadworksAI.
Map author: Unknown.
Map review:
I don't recall where I found the map LeadworksAI, but it was probably some obscure AvP2 website; maybe even a clan website. LeadworksAI is barely a singleplayer map. Whoever made it, they took the leadworks prefab, blocked off some tunnels, added about a dozen stationary corporate enemies and called it complete. So yes, it is leadworks with ai. While its not a lot of fun, it is definitely challenging to try and get through a long corridor with a dozen enemies or so without dieing. I would recommend this map to those who are into rom hacks that make the game extra difficult.

This is the third and final map of OO-Edds' Ivan maps. This time around, the player is on his own with no ai to help him take on the enemy marines. Island of the Dead - AvP2 Custom Map Campaign (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map campaign titled "Island of the Dead".
Map author: Artalavista.
Story:
"'Island of the Dead' is a homage to the five paintings of Arnold Böcklin called 'TOTENINSEL' (German, that means Isle of the dead), he did between 1880 and 1886. This campaign contents one story in five chapters."
Map review:
Island of the Dead is one of the most fan favorited AvP2 campaigns/maps. The maps in this campaign are extremely unique, unlike any other AvP2 maps. While they are indeed horror-based, the author, Artalavista, chose to create an extremely artistic campaign based upon a series of eerie paintings. He clearly took great liberties with the campaign to tie it to the AvP universe, but in doing so, he also added paranormal elements to the maps.
The level design of each map consists of solving small puzzles and navigating blocked pathways until eventually finding the right path. Most of the maps are filled with booby traps that can eliminate the player immediately. Thus, it is recommended to quick save often. The maps are tied together via cutscenes, sporadic dialogue and events detailing a haunted submarine (ghost ship if you will) and the actual island of the dead.
This campaign is actually a bit of a mod, in that in features new textures, skins, sounds, hud, etc. All of these are geared towards fitting the dead theme and they work quite well. In my first time playing this campaign, I jumped quite badly with the appearance of the first ghost which took me off guard when it appeared. This playthrough is my second playthrough of the campaign, although years after I first played it. While I didn't jump this time, I had largely forgotten much of the campaign and was pleased to replay it.
Island of the dead is by far the creepiest campaign and maps ever released for AvP2. While it doesn't have the dark and spooky corridors influenced by the Alien film, it has tons of paranormal and Silent Hill type influences that are very unnerving at times. The final level (epilogue) is so far out there in terms of what you would expect from an AvP2 game, yet it succeeds greatly. Island of the Dead is highly recommended.

Hostile Appetite - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Hostile Appetite".
Map author: Phil 'Windebieste' Wlodarczyk with the help of Hevoc, Herr Alien and Chris Beaver.
Story:
"The clumsy unchecked stumblings of Humans across the cosmos have given them the false confidence that every World they touch is simply theirs for the taking. Once before they have visited Acheron with fatal results and now their aggressive hunger for interstellar conquest has lead them back to this World. Coupling their opportunistic nature to take what is not rightfully theirs to claim with a severe lack of caution, this time they have returned under a corporate driven manifest destiny.
Unfortunately for them, such a hostile appetite for colonial expansion can only end in confrontation with the ultimate disaster:
YOU."
Map review:
Here is a very unique map in which the player takes control of an alien on Hadley's Hope. What makes this map special is its mission objective to find and destroy all 158 human npcs on the map. At the bottom right of the player's hud is a "chomp-o-meter" displaying the remaining human npcs on the map. As the player takes them out, the meter will fall in number until it hits zero and the player wins. As an alien, the player starts off as a facehugger and must facehug one of three human npcs at the start of the map. The left and middle npcs will have the player spawn as a drone and the right npc will have the player spawn as a runner. However, the middle npc will enable hints (this is the easy mode) and prevent the player from unlocking the secret ending (more on this later). In my playthrough I chose the left npc.
The player will not fight alone though, as several other alien npcs will join the player in the fight. The ai of these aliens ranges from dumb to extremely aggressive. For the most part they will just follow the player around and stand in the way of the player's path; mainly at doorways and exits. However, the moment they lock onto a Weyland-Yutani staff member, they make a direct beeline to attack them. It is best to stay out of their way when they attack as they can often kill the player by accident. This happened to me numerous times in my playthrough. It should be mentioned that the level design itself its pretty good and representative of what one would expect from a Hadley Hope complex, although its not 1:1 like it is in the movie. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though.
Once the player gets to around twenty npcs remaining, this map stops becoming fun and becomes a chore unfortunately. From my experience, it becomes EXTREMELY tedious and difficult to find the hard to reach and good-hiding npcs. The hints would probably make this a lot easier, but I wanted to unlock the secret ending. Although once I found the remaining ways to get access to the final npcs, the map became fun again. The xenomorph transforms again towards the end of the map into a praetorian which is a nice addition. This of course was fun until I had one npc left and had to re-search the whole map several times. I probably cut about thirty minutes of randomly searching for npcs from the video towards the end of the alien run.
If the player picked one of the facehugger victims without the hints, managed to destroy all 158 npcs AND kept all their alien escort npcs alive (make sure to quick-save often just in case) the player will unlock the secret ending called "sole survivor mode". In this mode, the player will spawn as a Weyland-Yutani officer hard at work in his room oblivious to all the xenomorph commotion going on outside. He is armed only with a knife, and must find his way out the Hadley Hope complex with no help at all. What is interesting with this mode is that it begins exactly when the alien part ends; meaning any items destroyed by the aliens will remain destroyed in this mode. This mode is a more straight forward style of AvP2 map, but it is difficult in that weapon selection is very limited. Many of the drone alien npcs have beefed up health and are very trigger happy with head biting mid-pounce. At the end a queen will spawn and it gets pretty ridiculous but tons of fun.
This is definitely a LONG map. It will take over an hour to complete, so make sure to save often. While it is a bit tedious towards the end of the alien part, the overall map is great and worth the grind. It is highly recommended.

Hadley's Hope Campaign - AvP2 Custom Map Campaign (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map campaign titled "Hadley's Hope Campaign" or "HHC".
Map author: Corporal Hicks
Download link: https://www.fileplanet.com/archive/p-50360/HHC-Beta
Campaign review:
This is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to maps. "Hadley's Hope Campaign" mod aka "HHC" comes with 11 maps. It should be noted that this mod is released as a beta. However, all the maps are so unfinished and buggy that they are alpha at best. The first few mission maps are somewhat there, but the remainder of the maps are completely broken. Ok, every map is broken to some degree.
Each map has missing textures, doors that won't open, areas to fall off the map, ai that gets stuck, ai that doesn't move, ai that is missing, lack of lighting, lack of sound, etc. I decided to show all the maps in this mod in one quick compilation because of how short many of them are. I also had to enable all ammo and invincibility cheats just to see areas of some maps that were inaccessible without them. Furthermore, the crosshair was removed in this mod. I don't know why as there is no readme file included with the download.
If all the time spent on these collection of maps was focused on one individual map, there might be a good map here. While the maps aren't good, this mod does have some good marine skins. Some of them only appear in singleplayer. There might be some other changes in gameplay in regards to characters, but I didn't notice them except for the lack of guns on the maps, even after enabling cheat codes.

Map review:
This is a skirmish-styled map that is a fairly accurate depiction of Hadley's Hope from the movie Aliens. Unfortunately, you will find more predator weapon pickups than marine weapon pickups even though you are playing as a marine. While the map looks good (minus one glitched room), it is hard to take in the level design with the constant flow of aliens attacking and the constant running around in circles.

Hades Facility III - AvP2 Custom Map (Complete Playthrough)
Aliens vs Predator 2 singleplayer custom map titled "Hades Facility III" aka "Alien Hades".
Map author: Alexandre "Lord_Hades" Vancomerbeck
Map review:
Hades Facility III is the third and final entry of a series of maps built on the same map. In Hades Facility III, the player takes control of a newly born alien facehugger. The facehugger encounters the predator who just killed his family and looks to get revenge. The level design is exactly the same as Hades Facility I and II with the exception of a newly added outdoor area.
This map is technically broken up into three maps, although all three are on the same map/level. In the first the player plays as the facehugger and must find either a human or predator host. In the second level, the player is the chestburster looking for food and the third is a full grown alien (drone or predalien depending on who the facehugger used as a host). As previously stated, each level reuses the same map, but the final map has an additional outdoor area where the player must face off with the predator. The predator is ridiculously overpowered in health and will take a beating to bring down.
Once the predator is disposed of, the alien must eliminate the remaining marines and corporates inside the base and evacuate. I ran into a problem with this map with the evacuation. Once all the enemies are defeated, a cutscene is triggered to the alien's escape. However, for whatever reason, the predalien's cutscene glitched to waiting for the bomb to detonate every time even though there was plenty of time to escape. I even destroyed the bombs before the cutscene was triggered and this still happened. When I played as the drone the escape cutscene played out normally. Depending on how fast you are in escaping, you are awarded a star rating out of five.
Personally I think Hades Facility II is the best in this series of Hades maps, partially due to me preferring the human gameplay, but also because this map seems to be the most polished. Hades Facility III is longer and has more interesting cutscenes, but the glitched finale was a bit underwhelming. Nevertheless, its one of the best custom singleplayer maps for the alien and should be played if you haven't already.
