The "Battle Hymn of the Republic", also known as "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory" outside of the United States, is a popular American patriotic song by the abolitionist writer Julia Ward Howe.
Howe wrote her lyrics to the music of the song "John Brown's Body" in November 1861 and first published them in The Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. The song links the judgment of the wicked at the end of the age (through allusions to biblical passages such as Isaiah 63:1–6 and Revelation 14:19) with the American Civil War.
First published version
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.
(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps,
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps:
His day is marching on.
(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal";
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on.
(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! Be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.
(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me.
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,[15]
While God is marching on.
(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.

With a Little Help from My Friends" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and sung by drummer Ringo Starr, his lead vocal for the album. As the second track on the album, it segues from the applause of the title track.
A subsequent recording of the track by Joe Cocker became a hit single in 1968 and an anthem for the Woodstock era.[2] In 1978, the Beatles' recording, paired with "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", was reissued as a single, and peaked at number 63 in Britain and number 71 in the United States. Starr has regularly performed the song in concert as a solo artist. "With a Little Help from My Friends" by the Beatles was ranked number 311 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

How to Play Happy Birthday on a Tremolo Harmonica with 16 Holes

#HappyBirthdayToYou, also known as #HappyBirthday, is a song traditionally sung to celebrate the anniversary of a person's birth. According to the 1998 #GuinnessWorldRecords, it is the most recognized song in the English language, followed by #ForHesaJollyGoodFellow. The song's base lyrics have been translated into at least 18 languages.[1] The melody of "Happy Birthday to You" comes from the song "Good Morning to All",[2] which has traditionally been attributed to American sisters Patty and Mildred J. Hill in 1893,[3][4] although the claim that the sisters composed the tune is disputed see more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_B...

Tune Basics will typically avoid delving too deeply into technique or musical styles but will, where possible, provide the pupil with relevant links to professional musicians who can take the learner deeper when they are ready to move on from basic #lessons.
Generally speaking Tune Basics will focus more on popular songs that are in the #PublicDomain. This is to protect the channel, Kerin Gedge, from any complications that may arise due to copyright claims. But it also aids the musical student with the belief that most popular public domain songs are already deeply embedded in the player’s subconscious, which lends itself to the learning experience. For example tunes like #TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar, #HappyBirthday or even #ChristmasSongs like #SilentNight or #JingleBells are so entrenched in modern western minds that learning the songs is “easy” because you’re already half way there!
Although on occasion #KerinGedge will provide a lesson on a modern popular song without monetising the video. Examples include #TheCoffinDanceMeme which became very popular during 2020, #BillyJoel’s #PianoMan or #Snufkin the harmonica playing wanderer from the #Moomin series.

This Tutorial is for a Tremolo Harmonica with 16 Holes

"Be Thou My Vision" (Old Irish: Rop tú mo baile or Rob tú mo bhoile) is a traditional Christian hymn of Irish origin. The words are based on a Middle Irish poem that has traditionally been attributed to Dallán Forgaill.[1]
The best-known English version, with some minor variations, was translated in 1905 by Mary Elizabeth Byrne in 1905, then made into verse by Eleanor Hull and published in 1912. Since 1919 it has been commonly sung to an Irish folk tune, noted as "Slane" in church hymnals,[1][2] and is one of the most popular hymns in the United Kingdom.
English Lyrics by Eleanor Hull
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;Be all else but naught to me, save that Thou art;Be Thou my best thought in the day and the night,Both waking and sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;Be Thou ever with me, and I with Thee, Lord;Be Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son;Be Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my Breastplate, my Sword for the fight;Be Thou my whole Armor, be Thou my true Might;Be Thou my soul's Shelter, be Thou my strong Tow’r,O raise Thou me heav’nward, great Pow’r of my pow’r.
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise;Be Thou mine inheritance, now and always;Be Thou and Thou only the first in my heart,O high King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, Thou heaven's bright Sun,O grant me its joys, after vict'ry is won;Great Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,Still be Thou my vision, O Ruler of all.
Although there are quite a few variations, not the least of which being the original Old Irish version.

I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps,
His day is marching on.
Verse Three
I have read His fiery gospel writ in rows of burnished steel!
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you My grace shall deal!
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,"
Since God is marching on.
Verse Four
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him; be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.
Verse Five
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free!
While God is marching on.

"The House of the Rising Sun" is a traditional folk song, sometimes called "Rising Sun Blues". It tells of a person's life gone wrong in the city of New Orleans. Many versions also urge a sibling or parents and children to avoid the same fate. The most successful commercial version, recorded in 1964 by the British rock band The Animals, was a number one hit on the UK Singles Chart and in the US and Canada.[1] As a traditional folk song recorded by an electric rock band, it has been described as the "first folk rock hit".[2][3]
The song was first collected in Appalachia in the 1930s, but probably has its roots in traditional English folk song. It is listed as number 6393 in the Roud Folk Song Index.

All my tutorials are made using Adobe Animate. Special thanks to Unsplash for the stock photos and Logic Pro X for the audio which I painstakingly record myself!

How to Play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on a Kalimba with 10 Keys

Click here for my list of Harmonica TABS https://tunebasics.blogspot.com/2019/09/harmonica-tabs.html
In this tutorial I will show you the basics of how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on a Kalimba!
"#TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar" is a popular #EnglishLullaby. The lyrics are from an early-19th-century #EnglishPoem by Jane Taylor, The Star. The poem, which is in couplet form, was first published in 1806 in Rhymes for the Nursery, a collection of poems by Taylor and her sister Ann. It is sung to the tune of the French melody "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman", which was published in 1761 and later arranged by several composers, including Mozart with Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman".[1] The English lyrics have five stanzas, although only the first is widely known. It has a #RoudFolkSongIndex number of 7666. This song is usually performed in the key of C major.
Tune Basics is the popular music #education series created by #NewZealand based #musician/content creator Kerin Gedge. It is designed to teach anybody who wants to learn the fundamentals or very basics of how to play #MusicalInstruments which includes #DiatonicHarmonica, #TremoloHarmonica with 24 holes, Tremolo #Harmonica with 16 holes, Tremolo Harmonica with 20 holes, #ChromaticHarmonica, kalimba with ten keys, recorder and #PennyWhistle (also known as #TinWhistle).
The aim of Tune Basics is to acquaint the student with clear graphic based #instructions for how to play simple and recognisable songs.
#TuneBasics also provides #HarmonicaTabs #TinWhistleTabs /#PennyWhistleTabs and #KalimbaTabs on the Tune Basics blog, link provided above. Please be sure to browse our #TABS list as often we will provide TABS that are yet to be animated into #Tutorials. In other words you may find TABS for songs that aren’t available on the channel.

How to Play Happy Birthday on a Tremolo Harmonica with 20 Holes

In today’s tale I wanted to farewell the late Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth the II with the curious reminder that reportedly her majesty was not immune to the occasional interruption of the paranormal.
It is said that the Queen herself once saw the ghost of the first Queen Elizabeth in the Library Room of the 952 year old Windsor Castle, while spending time there with her younger sister Princess Margaret, though how old the royal sisters were when this occurred has not been reported, yet it was indeed prior to 2002, the year in which Princess Margaret regrettably passed away.
Frustratingly I could not find many precise details relating to the incident, and it may be we will never know how the event transpired or what the Queen’s personal thoughts were on the encounter, but others who claim to have seen Elizabeth I, also report that they heard her footsteps first!
Sightings of Elizabeth I aren’t all that uncommon, as various people have apparently seen her royal visage pass through Westminster Abbey, where she lay buried next to her half-sister Mary, who makes a strange resting companion considering Mary herself hated Elizabeth and had her locked away in the Bell Tower for a period during her own reign, paranoid of her half-sister’s assumed support of Protestant rebels who preferred Elizabeth over a Catholic Queen.... watch the video to find out what happens....

This praise song about the action of the Holy Spirit is sometimes attributed to L(Louis?) Casebolt, but no further information about them has been located.
Hymn-books which it has been published in include:
Songs of Praise, Scripture in Song, New Zealand, 1973
Scripture in Song, Songs of Praise, Volume 1, New Zealand, 1979
These both state that the author is unknown, and that the arrangement (not the underlying tune / words) is copyright Scripture in Song USA, 1972.
The song, credited to Betty Pulkingham and L Casebolt was recorded on the Songs of Praise, Album 3 released under the Word of God label in 1977 (ref). It was also included in the 1978 album Rejoice with the Fisherfolk - and the sleeve material of this recording credits verse 1 to L Casebolt, and verses 2-6 to Betty Pulkingham (ref).
It is not clear when, or by who, the chorus and actions were added. There are at least two variations of these which have been recorded.
The song has been translated to various languages, including Tongan (ref), and one recording on YouTube shows an adapted version being sung at at 21st century vacation bible school.
Details thanks to https://www.godsongs.net/2021/05/theres-river-of-life-flowing-out-of-me-spring-up-o-well.html
The Lyrics:
There's a river of life flowing out of me,
Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see.
Open prison door sets the captive free,
There's a river of life flowing out of me.
Spring up oh well..
Within my soul!
Spring up oh well...!
And make me whole.
Spring up oh well....
And give to me.
That life abundantly.
There's a fountain flowing from the Savior's side,
All my sin's forgiven in the precious tide;
Jesus paid the price when for me He died,
There's a fountain flowing from the Savior's side.
There's a risen Savior at the Father's throne,
Ever interceding for His very own;
Pouring down the blessings that are His alone,
There's a risen Savior at the Father's throne.

TuneBasics believes that ANYONE can learn to play. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what your musical background is. If you can follow the simple instructions provided in these videos then you’re well on your way to becoming a musician. But don’t expect to “get it” right away. Practice will always make perfect. Sometimes you may need to watch these tutorials a few times to get the hang of it. Most songs on Tune Basics are broken up into simple manageable phrases so learn one phrase at a time! Pause, practice and then continue. And when you’re ready to move onto more complicated lessons check out #LiamWard at #learntheharmonica.com or #TomlinLecki at #tomlinharmonicalessons.com.

"How Great Thou Art" is a Christian hymn based on a Swedish traditional melody and a poem written by Carl Boberg (1859–1940) in Mönsterås, Sweden, in 1885. It was translated into German and then into Russian; it was translated into English from the Russian by English missionary Stuart K. Hine, who also added two original verses of his own. The hymn was popularised by George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows during the Billy Graham crusades.[1] It was voted the British public's favourite hymn by BBC's Songs of Praise.[2] "How Great Thou Art" was ranked second (after "Amazing Grace") on a list of the favourite hymns of all time in a survey by Christianity Today magazine in 2001. For more read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_Great_Thou_Art
Most common English Lyrics:
Verse1
O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hand hath made.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Verse 2
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:
Verse 3
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
Verse 4
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

TABS for Oh Danny Boy on a Tremolo Harmonica with 20 Holes/40 Tones

These TABS are for a Tremolo Harmonica with 20 holes / 40 tones.
If you find they are moving too fast then please slow the video play back speed down or press pause so you are able to master each phrase before moving on.
So now, a little bit about this song and its history (thanks wikipedia!) In 1910, in Bath, Somerset, the English lawyer and lyricist Frederic Weatherly initially wrote the words to "Danny Boy" to a tune other than "Londonderry Air". After his Irish-born sister-in-law Margaret Enright Weatherly (known as Jess) in the United States sent him a copy of "Londonderry Air" in 1913 (an alternative version of the story has her singing the air to him in 1912 with different lyrics), Weatherly modified the lyrics of "Danny Boy" to fit the rhyme and meter of "Londonderry Air".
Weatherly gave the song to the vocalist Elsie Griffin, who made it one of the most popular songs of the new century. In 1915, Ernestine Schumann-Heink produced the first recording of "Danny Boy".
Jane Ross of Limavady is credited with collecting the melody of "Londonderry Air" in the mid-19th century from a musician she encountered.
Personally I've never even heard of Londonderry Air, but if you're looking for a harmonica lesson on how to play Londonderry Air then this is the tutorial for you I guess!
The original lyrics by Frederick E. Weatherly wen something like this.
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, It's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow,—
Oh, Danny boy, Oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
Ye'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Avé there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend
and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!
That sounds about right.
As for what the lyrics actually mean you can read more about this classic song by visiting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Boy
Now as for the various other things in this tutorial, the crazy gold bathing Leprechaun was drawn by me. That's right, I drew that. It was borrowed from my story The Majestic Unicorn which for the curious among you can be read hear https://kertoons.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-majestic-unicorn.html If enough people ask me, maybe I'll make a video based on it one day. I would have done it already but no one seems to like my songs/stories, they just want me for my tutorials.
The wonderful green clover patch was pulled from Timothy Dykes on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@timothycdykes
I drew the rainbow myself too. The special effects. Those were me, with a little help from Adobe Audition and the audio, all recorded by me on Logic Pro X and using my snow ball blue, for the most part... well, for the some part... can't remember what the name of my other mic is. Anyway, if you are the impatient type and can't wait, and I mean really can't actually wait for reals, until my next video comes out then don't forget, you can check out my TABS page, there's a link in the description below, and until next time stay tuned.

"#WaltzingMatilda" is #Australia's best-known bush #ballad, and has been described as the country's "unofficial national #anthem".[1]
The title was Australian slang for travelling on foot (waltzing) with one's belongings in a "matilda" (swag) slung over one's back.[2] The song narrates the story of an itinerant worker, or "swagman", making a drink of billy tea at a bush camp and capturing a stray jumbuck (sheep) to eat. When the jumbuck's owner, a squatter (landowner), and three troopers (mounted policemen) pursue the swagman for theft, he declares "You'll never catch me alive!" and commits suicide by drowning himself in a nearby billabong (watering hole), after which his ghost haunts the site.

"Home on the Range" is a classic cowboy song, sometimes called the "unofficial anthem" of the American West.[1] Dr. Brewster M. Higley (also spelled Highley) of Smith County, Kansas, wrote the lyrics as the poem "My Western Home" in 1872 or 1873,with at least one source indicating it was written as early as 1871. In 1947, "Home on the Range" became the Kansas state song. In 2010, members of the Western Writers of America chose it as one of the Top 100 western songs of all time... for more details on this classic American tune visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_on_the_Range

"#DrunkenSailor" is a #SeaShanty, also known as "What Shall We Do with a/the Drunken Sailor?"
The #shanty was sung to accompany certain work tasks aboard #SailingShips, especially those that required a bright walking pace.
"Drunken Sailor" was revived as a popular song among non-sailors in the 20th century, and grew to become one of the best-known songs of the shanty repertoire among mainstream audiences. It has been performed and recorded by many musical artists and appeared in many popular media.
Although the song's lyrics vary, they usually contain some variant of the question, "What shall we do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning?" In some styles of performance, each successive verse suggests a method of sobering or punishing the drunken sailor. In other styles, further questions are asked and answered about different people.
The song is No. 322 in the #RoudFolkSong Index. For more details see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drunken_Sailor

In today's tale I want to revisit the extraordinary life of the Cappuccin monk lovingly remembered as Padre Pio.
The last video I made about this dedicated priest touched only slightly on the frequency with which he was visited by the souls of the departed who sought his prayers whilst caught in purgatory.
But there was, it seems so much more to this man that warrants exploration.
In particular are the miracles associated with his ministry.
I say associated because it's important, I believe, to make a distinction between a miracle performed by a mere man as opposed to being a man through whom Christ might work a miracle. To the Christian There is a big difference. A true servant of the gospel would never claim credit for miracles but always points the way back to Christ, the source of the miracle.
To someone who isn't religious this might all sound just a bit too silly, but it does serve to illustrate the sort of man Padre Pio was. By all accounts he was simply a man who loved his Lord so much that it became evident to all who crossed his path. He wasn't a showman, like some telly evangelist, and yet his Masses were famous all around the world because of the reverence and genuine awe with which he conducted them, no stage lights or electric guitars were required to inspire those who saw him perform Mass, just a single man whose devotion and genuine connection with God was itself a wonder to behold.
However, It seems that his devotion to Christ became physically evident in surprising and shocking ways.
The most profound of which being the appearance of stigmata in both of the Padres hands.... watch the video to find out more!
