The Importance of School Choice - Andrew Campanella
Education is an important part of everyone's life. It gives us the foundation we need for the rest of our lives. But what happens when a child can't get the education he or she needs? Whether the district schools are underperforming or the private schools are too expensive, the result for the child can be devastating. This is where school choice plays an important role and our guest, Andrew Campanella, is here to explain how school choice works. Andrew Campanella is the president of School Choice Week and he has seen first hand the importance of receiving a quality education.
Held every January, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. The goal of National School Choice Week (NSCW) is to raise public awareness of all types of education options for children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
To meet this goal, NSCW encourages schools, organizations, and individuals to hold positive events that celebrate school choice options, while drawing attention to the need for even greater opportunities for children. To learn more about school choice and school choice week, you can visit https://schoolchoiceweek.com.

Keep Your Kids on God's Side! - Natasha Crain
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Ultimately, it's not up to a church, youth pastor, Christian school, or anyone else to make sure that your kids are strong enough in their faith to face the world's challenges: it is your responsibility. Many parents feel that when it comes to teaching their children to answer the faith's more difficult questions, either they don't have time, or they don't know how to bring up the topic, or they don't feel up to the task themselves. That's why Natasha Crain, a Christian mom and blogger turned apologist, wrote her book "Keeping Your Kids on God's Side: 40 Conversations to Help Them Build a Lasting Faith." In this episode of Educate For Life with Kevin Conover, Natasha and Kevin discuss her book and the importance of parents training up their children in the ways of God. "Keeping Your Kids on God's Side" can help any Christian parent introduce some of the most difficult topics to their children, from the problem of evil to slavery in the Bible. Check out Natasha's website, http://ChristianMomThoughts.com, to buy the book and read her articles on many Christian parenting topics!

Biblical Geology: the Stone-Cold Facts - Dr. Steve Austin
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Does the geologic evidence really prove an ancient Earth, or can a biblical perspective do a better job of explaining our world's features? This week Kevin's guest is research geologist Dr. Steve Austin. He may not be a stone-cold wrestler, but he does know a lot about rocks. You may think geology sounds boring, but Steve could prove you wrong: he recently climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, and has visited many other exotic and beautiful locations for his research (especially the Grand Canyon).
Steve talks to Kevin about some of the evidence he's uncovered for biblical history throughout his long and productive career. Where did the Grand Canyon come from, since it clearly wasn't formed by the Colorado River (as secular geologists are now admitting)? Why are there so many marine fossils in completely inappropriate places, like deserts and high mountains? Could there be evidence that there really was an earthquake when Jesus was crucified, as the Bible says? Steve addresses these questions and more while also sharing about his personal journey, from a rock-loving kid in a secular home to a Biblical Creationist and research geologist.
Steve doesn't hog all the adventure for himself! He also runs a program called Creation Adventures, where anyone can sign up to go on a geologic expedition. In May of 2017 he is leading a 7-day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon that will explore the evidence for Noah's Flood. Visit CreationAdventures.com to get more information and sign up!

Counting to God - Doug Ell
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Many people can name a specific reason why they became a Christian, but how many would say the reason is "math"? Probably very few, and Douglas Ell is one of them. Kevin talks to Doug about his recent book Counting to God, in which he explains how mathematical analysis of the scientific evidence over several decades finally persuaded him to change from atheism to Christianity. For Doug, it wasn't moral arguments, spiritual feelings, or difficult life circumstances that brought him to God. He needed hard evidence, and that's just what he found. Kevin and Doug discuss this evidence, from biology (the fact that so many organisms have completely unique and functional DNA code with no evolutionary history) to quantum mechanics (the existence of measurable, physical phenomena that defy the laws of physics) and beyond. They show that God isn't just a last resort to cover gaps in scientific knowledge: there is irrefutable positive evidence why He is absolutely necessary to understanding life and the universe.
After graduating from MIT with a double-major in mathematics and physics, Doug earned a Masters in Theoretical Mathematics before entering into the field of law. His long and successful career practicing law, combined with his training in mathematics and science, have made him the ideal person to examine both the evidence and arguments for (and against) God. After repeatedly finding that the evidence points to God rather than away from him, Doug remarked to a colleague (Professor Peter Fisher, Head of MIT's Department of Physics) that someone needed to write a book about this incredible information. His colleague responded, "Why not you?"
The resultant work, Counting to God, is available at Doug's website CountingToGod.com as well as from other booksellers. It is a great tool for strengthening the faith of believers, as well as prompting unbelievers to think deeply about their worldview and the questions it raises.

Does evolution cause racism? - Dr. Richard Weikart
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Christianity is often associated with the worst moments in history. The Salem witch trials, the crusades, and the holocaust just to name a few. Critics claim that because of these events, Christians can't claim that Christianity is better than any other religion. After all, they claim, Hitler was a Christian and look at all the horrible things he did. But is this claim true? Was Hitler a Christian? Today of Kevin's show, we have guest Dr. Richard Weikart to answer that questions.
Dr. Richard Weikart is a Professor of History at California State University, Stanislaus. He completed his Ph.D. in modern European history at the University of Iowa in 1994, receiving the biennial prize of the Forum for History of Human Sciences for the best dissertation in that field. His book, From Darwin to Hitler: Evolutionary Ethics, Eugenics, and Racism in Germany, documents the influence of naturalistic evolution on ethical thought, euthanasia, militarism, racism, and ultimately Hitler's ideology. For more information on this book, go to www.darwintohitler.com. Dr. Weikart has also written Hitler's Ethic: The Nazi Pursuit of Evolutionary Progress, which helps explain the mystery of Hitler’s pernicious ideology by demonstrating that Hitler’s immorality flowed from a coherent ethic, inspired by an evolutionary utopian project of biologically improving the human race.
Join us for an exciting show as Kevin and Dr. Richard Weikart discuss the underpinnings of Hitler's ideology and determine whether Hitler was a Christian, an evolutionist, or something else entirely. The answer may surprise you. Don't miss it.

My Jehovah - Michael Lehre
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Imagine this. You are in a room with no windows. There are people all around you. But they can't talk to you, look at you, or even acknowledge you. You might as well be invisible or dead. For most people, this would sound like a nightmare, but this was the experience of our guest Michael Lehre as a Jehovah's Witness.
Michael Lehre was born and raised Jehovah's Witness. He felt he had the true religion until one day when he met a man who claimed he had the true religion. Michael didn't know it, but a seed had been planted. He began to secretly explore the Bible. The more he studied, the more he realized that everything he had ever been told was a lie. His life began to fall apart and he was disfellowshipped from his congregation. He felt so worthless he attempted suicide multiple times. At his lowest point, he cried out to God to reveal Himself and God answered.
Tune in to Educate For Life to hear this amazing and powerful story. You will hear how Michael Lehre, through the power of Jesus Christ, turned his life around and gained a new identity. Bishop Muhammad - Daniel Massieh
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
How does a lifelong Muslim named Muhammad, who comes from a Muslim family and lives in a Muslim country, wind up in prison for preaching Christianity? In this episode Kevin's guest, Pastor Daniel Massieh (author of the autobiographical work Traitor), provides the answer.
Before changing his name, Daniel grew up as Muhammad in the predominately Muslim country of Egypt. He had a single Christian friend, but in 12 years this friend never once shared the gospel with him or invited him to church. Daniel consequently had no idea what Christians believed, and assumed that the primary faith of the USA was accurately represented in Hollywood movies. Curious to witness the zoo that he imagined a Christian worship service to be, Daniel invited himself to his friend's church. When he didn't see any guns, hard drinks or bikini-clad women, he decided to investigate further and find out what the Christians were really up to behind closed doors. As part of his infiltration effort, Daniel decided to memorize the Lord's prayer in case another Christian asked him to pray. But soon after he looked over the first few lines, everything started to change...
Daniel shares much more of his incredible testimony, and how an unexpected encounter with the Living God showed him what was lacking in the false God of Islam. For decades, Daniel has carried out his mission of sharing this truth with other Muslims. He continues to do so today through his ministry, Open The Gates. Daniel's life should encourage all Christians to share the gospel with Muslims—especially those of us who can do so without being thrown in prison!
For more info visit Daniel's website at OpenTheGates.org, or read his full testimony in his book Traitor. You can email him at Daniel@OpenTheGates.org to learn more about how to witness to Muslims.

Gender: Feeling or Fact?
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Check out Ryan Anderson's new book on why embracing transgenderism isn't good for anyone http://amzn.to/2uD8phT
Wait! That book doesn't come out for a few months, check out another fantastic book by Ashley McQuire http://amzn.to/2h3tRcG
A recent change to New York City’s anti-discrimination laws has added fines of up to $250,000 as a penalty for one particular offense. This fine isn’t incurred by discriminating based on age, sex, race, religion, or even sexual orientation; it is for failing to treat someone according to their self-determined gender (regardless of their biological sex).
This week Kevin discusses the growing issue of transgenderism and transsexualism. In the legislation, the New York City Commission on Human Rights states that a person’s gender is about what they feel, not what biology or the law says.1 This relativistic way of thinking is a sign of our culture’s descent into solipsism: the idea that reality is defined by the feelings of the individual, regardless of the facts. Though God told us long ago that He created humans male and female (Genesis 1:27-28), mankind begs to differ. But once you remove God from authority, where does solipsistic reasoning lead? If one’s sex is self-determined, why not other physical characteristics such as race and age as well? A 52-year-old father of 7 is now living in Toronto, self-identifying and behaving as a 6-year-old girl. If society must agree with him about his self-determined gender, then on what basis can it deny his self-determined age?
Kevin discusses many implications of this issue, both hypothetical and actual, with insightful callers. One man shares the story of his own complicated history with transgenderism, and how facing the fact of his biological sex was a much better solution than any attempt to suppress it. In a culture where recognizing obvious facts is considered a civil rights violation, Christians (and clear thinkers in general) must make a stand for a shared reality based on objective truth.
“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened… Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.” — Romans 1:21, 24

Jesus Among Muslims - Tach, former Muslim
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Islam is utterly opposed to Christianity at its core, denying the message of Jesus' deity, his death for our sins, and his resurrection to give us new life. Yet across the world, Muslims are converting to Christianity in record numbers. How is it that people who have been taught from a young age to reject the gospel wind up being transformed by it?
In this episode Kevin talks to a formerly Muslim, now Christian woman who goes by the name Tach (to protect her privacy, some of her personal information will not be disclosed). Tach is a motivational speaker and television program director who brings the good news of Jesus Christ to women around the world. She was raised by a Muslim family in a Soviet-ruled country, at a time when the government had made the practice of religion illegal. Tach's mother (her only family member who was serious about their religion) instilled a spiritual awareness in her from a young age, and she began to search for a deeper meaning in life. However, even after the Soviet Union fell and the practice of Islam increased in her community, Tach did not find the answer to her spiritual emptiness.
It wasn't until she left her family for college and met two Christian missionaries that Tach found out what could fill the void: a relationship with Jesus. However, the change in her heart did not occur quickly. It took over four years of repeated evangelism and deep searching for Tach to accept that Jesus is the Truth!
Tach and Kevin use her remarkable testimony to discuss how Christians can reach out to Muslims. The most important thing is to build genuine, loving relationships that model Jesus Christ, and be patient! Even if an evangelistic effort does not produce immediate, obvious fruit, God can work through it to make a change in someone's heart.
Learn more about Tach and her ministry at Tach-SetFree.com.

God in the Navy - Father and Son Navy Chaplains
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
America knows that freedom doesn't come cheap. There is always a high price to pay for liberty — and those who serve in the military bear the brunt of the expense. Putting your life on the line for your country takes a heavy toll physically, psychologically, and spiritually. That is why, in addition to the many other services provided for military personnel, our government funds a chaplain corps to meet their spiritual needs. Military chaplains help servicemen and women to live out their constitutional right to the free exercise of religion, even while deployed.
This week Kevin talks with a father and son who both serve as Navy chaplains. Bob and John explain the duties of a chaplain, and why they provide a service that other types of counselors simply cannot. As a military corps, chaplains are deployed with soldiers wherever they go. They understand firsthand what servicemen go through, unlike professional counselors with no military experience. And even more importantly, chaplains recognize and address the underlying spiritual causes of struggles faced by service men and women returning from active duty. All too commonly they are afflicted by grief, fear, guilt, and other emotional burdens that feel inescapable. More than psychological techniques or medication, people with these struggles need to know that there is a God who loves them, that right and wrong truly exist, and that God never abandons you no matter what you've done or what situation you're in. Bob and John share some incredible stories of how they have seen God transform the lives of veterans when nothing else could help them. They also provide insight into the difficult life of a soldier, giving us even more reason to appreciate both the defenders of our nation, and the chaplains who minister to them.
"If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" — Romans 8:31b-32

Reject Tyranny, Prevent Anarchy Part 2 - Dr. Gary Cass
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
In the previous episode, Kevin talked with Dr. Gary Cass about the doctrine of the lesser magistrate, and how it is the duty of lesser authorities to stand up to higher authorities when they become tyrannical. This principle applies to all kinds of bodies, including families, businesses, churches, and nations. Those who hold power do not have absolute and unquestionable authority but are constantly kept in check by the ones who gave it to them.
This time Kevin and Gary continue the conversation by looking at other relevant principles of government, exploring how our understanding of federal authority has been corrupted, and discussing how we can respond proactively to the alarming trend of the Supreme Court vastly overstepping its authority. They talk about the Supremacy Clause, which states that federal law is the supreme law of the land if the federal government is acting within its legitimate powers. They also discuss the actions being taken to finally counteract the unconstitutional Johnson Amendment, a 1954 law that prevents tax-exempt organizations (including churches) from speaking about political candidates and issues.
Governments are meant to act as representatives of God and His laws, and it is up to the church to make sure that they are doing so. It may be tempting to withdraw from the world and focus only on God's spiritual kingdom, but history has taught us that when the church silently allows the government to run rampant, terrible tragedies can occur—just ask Germany's Lutheran church in the 1930s and 40s. Two Views of India - Ananthapadmanabhan and Johnny
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
In this episode, Kevin talks with Ananthapadmanabhan Kandhadai (who goes by Ananth) and Johnny John, two friends who have a lot in common. Both were born and raised in India, both have lived in San Diego for over 20 years, and both work as engineers for Qualcomm. But there is one notable difference between them: Ananth was born into ~80% of India's Hindu population, and he is a practicing Hindu. Johnny, however, was born into the ~2% of India's Christian population, and he is a practicing Christian.
As they grew up in differing worldviews, Ananth and Johnny gained distinct perspectives on life, religion, salvation, and God. They discuss (not debate) their philosophies on these and other topics, in addition to explaining some key components of Hindu beliefs and culture (such as reincarnation, cow reverence and vegetarianism). This episode provides an excellent firsthand perspective on the differences between Hinduism and Christianity, not only in terms of specific beliefs, but also with regards to general outlook and mindset. Though Ananth and Johnny both stuck with the religion of their parents, it was not for the same reasons. Their discussion shows that it not only matters what you believe but why you believe it.

Reject Tyranny, Prevent Anarchy Part 1 - Dr. Gary Cass
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
You’ve probably heard of Kim Davis, a Kentucky county clerk who made national news when she was sent to jail for a unique crime. Davis was the first notable case of a person facing criminal charges for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses. Davis argues that it is not herself but the Federal Government who has violated the law, by infringing upon her religious freedom. Her case revives a question that Americans have faced since before we were even an independent nation: when does it become appropriate (and necessary) for citizens to disobey their government?
Kevin’s guest this week is Dr. Gary Cass, founder of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. Dr. Cass has ministered behind the Iron Curtain of the Soviet Union, acted as the Director of the Center for Reclaiming America for Christ, appeared on various national television networks, and written multiple books (including Gag Order). In 2004 he was awarded the Salt and Light award by Dr. D. James Kennedy, with whom he worked closely. He appears on the CADC’s daily national radio program called Freedom Alert.
Kevin talks with Dr. Cass about an essential civil principle of which many modern Americans are unaware: the doctrine of the lesser magistrate. Rooted in Protestant Christianity, this concept states that when a high authority (or government) becomes tyrannical or immoral, it is the duty of its citizens to rebel, in order to overthrow it or restore it to its proper state. This sentiment should be familiar to all US citizens, since it is how our nation was founded! As free people, Americans have a responsibility to push back against any law that would threaten liberty. Disobedience of unjust laws does not cause anarchy, but guards against it — by preventing tyranny!
“Saul said, ‘May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if you do not die, Jonathan.’ But the men said to Saul, ‘Should Jonathan die—he who has brought about this great deliverance in Israel? Never! As surely as the Lord lives, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground, for he did this today with God’s help.’ So the men rescued Jonathan, and he was not put to death.” — 1 Samuel 14:44-45

Becoming a 7-Day Hero - Jerry Huson
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
This week Kevin talks with Jerry Huson of 7 Day Hero, an organization that takes American Christians to overseas mission fields. Jerry has found many ways to occupy himself throughout his life, from coaching high school and college sports, to earning a PhD, to driving floats at Disneyland. But there is one pursuit he will never be able to give up: ministering to the needy in far-off places. Jerry has been to over 40 countries, and has seen countless transformed lives among both the impoverished people in need of aid, and the volunteers who come along to help them.
Jerry's organization, 7 Day Hero, is all about teaching people how to be a hero seven days a week. What is a hero? Someone who gives himself away, helping those who can't help themselves, without expecting anything in return. This is something that can (and should) be done around the world, but it can also be done in one's own neighborhood, street, and household. Those who go on Jerry's trips experience what it's like to be a hero by helping people with no resources to help themselves, including blind people who can't afford simple eye surgeries and lepers who have no access to treatment. But instead of simply leaving the trip behind them, they are encouraged to think about how they can still be a hero once they return home. The simplest acts, like performing a chore for a loved one to conversing with a stranger, can have an unforgettable impact on another person's life.
Two millennia ago Jesus Christ walked the earth, cleansing lepers, giving sight to the blind, and most importantly, showing love to the outcasts. He told his followers, "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:12) To this day, followers of Jesus are called to participate in his works. We have the ability to provide treatment for lepers and surgery that can restore sight to blind eyes; will we take action and put our resources to work for the Kingdom of God?
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, 'Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." —Luke 14:26

Modern-Day Martyrs - Todd Nettleton
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
If you are familiar with the New Testament or church history, you know that Christians have been persecuted for their faith in many times and places. Starting with the murder of Stephen soon after the resurrection, countless followers of Jesus have been tortured and killed for spreading the gospel and refusing to give up their faith. But did you know that there are more Christians facing harsh persecution right now than at any other point in history? This week Kevin's guest is Todd Nettleton, the Director of Media and Public Relations for Voice of the Martyrs. This organization exists to raise awareness and provide aid for persecuted Christians around the world.
Voice of the Martyrs was founded by Romanian Pastor Richard Wurmbrand in 1967, after he was finally released from a 14-year stay in a communist prison. What crime did he commit to deserve such a sentence? He refused to surrender control of his church's teachings to the communist government, and said that his first loyalty would always be to Christ. Wurmbrand was able to survive his horrific experience and use it to glorify God, writing about it in his book Tortured for Christ (which is available for free through Voice of the Martyrs). Many more Christians are going through similar experiences right now, and their stories need to be heard. Todd shares a few such stories, and also explains what VOM is doing to help persecuted Christians and spread the gospel in places where it needs to be heard the most. He also talks about what those of us who live in safety can do to help our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.
To learn more about Voice of the Martyrs visit Persecution.com, where you can subscribe to their newsletter about the state of the persecuted church worldwide. You can also listen to their radio show at VOMRadio.net.
"For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." —2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Jesus vs. the Witch Doctor - Onesmus Ngoboka
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Would you choose to follow Jesus even if it meant being rejected by your culture, disowned by your family, and cut off from all financial support? Kevin's guest this week, Onesmus Ngoboka, had to make that choice—when he was only 14 years old. In this episode, Onesmus shares his incredible testimony and discusses what his ministry is doing to spread the gospel to the fringes of society in Uganda.
Onesmus was technically brought up in the church, but in his village, even churchgoers looked to the local witch doctor rather than God to solve their problems. At age 12 he had a troubling dream in which God showed him that despite his nominal Christian faith, he was headed for hell. Onesmus realized that he needed a personal relationship with Jesus, something his church had never emphasized. He decided to obey the call of God, but soon this choice cost him everything he had, including his family. With no one else to rely on, he fully placed his trust in God, and in turn, God provided for him over and over again.
Thanks to God's providence, Onesmus was given the opportunity to attend graduate school in the United States. Now he is returning to Uganda with a Masters in Divinity and an MA in Christian Ministry to train pastors and equip the church. He works with Uganda Ministries (a non-profit organization he co-founded) to support rural churches, provide Christian schooling for children, give aid to orphans, and even broadcast a Christian radio program that reaches millions of listeners. You can learn more about what his ministry is doing at http://UgandaMinistries.org. Whether through prayer or pledges, please consider offering your support to this worthy effort!

Why Atheism Can't Explain Reality - Dr. Andy McIntosh and Eric Hovind
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Kevin recently moderated a debate between Jeff Archer (president of the Atheist Coalition of San Diego) and Dr. Andy McIntosh that focused on the question: Can an atheistic worldview make sense of reality? In the previous episode he talked to Jeff Archer about why he thinks the answer is yes; this time he talks to Dr. Andy McIntosh about why it is most definitely a "no." Eric Hovind of Creation Today is also present to weigh in on some of the issues.
Kevin, Andy, and Eric discuss why it is impossible for the universe as we know it to exist without God. They respond to a variety of arguments that atheists commonly use, including (but not limited to): life could increase in complexity without breaking down because the earth is an open system with energy coming in; the existence of intelligence doesn't require God, because humans are just a complex AI; crystals are an example of a natural increase of complexity apart from intelligence; and lastly, creationists aren't real scientists because they never make any scientific predictions that lead to valuable research or discovery. Listen to the full episode to hear why each of these assertions is incorrect, as well as other evidence that supports theism and refutes atheism.

An Atheist Explains Reality - Jeff Archer
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Whether they know it or not, every person possesses a worldview. This is a set of broad principles that guides their perception of reality, informing them of what exists and what doesn't, what is possible and what is not. As human knowledge has advanced over the past few centuries, so has the idea that observational science can explain the whole of reality, physical stuff is all there is, and there is no spiritual realm. This philosophical naturalism is a key component of atheism, a denial of the existence of any sort of god.
But does this view do an adequate job of explaining the whole of human knowledge and experience? On September 29th, Kevin is moderating a debate between a Christian (Dr. Andy McIntosh) and an atheist (Jeff Archer) on whether an atheistic worldview can make sense of reality. In the weeks preceding the debate, he is interviewing each participant in turn about why they hold the position they do. In this first of the two interviews, he speaks with Jeff Archer about why he believes atheism explains all of reality without any need to refer to the supernatural. They discuss topics such as whether religion is necessary for moral living, and whether the complexity of life suggests intelligent design.
Jeff Archer is the long-standing president of the Atheist Coalition of San Diego, author of multiple books, and an experienced public debater. You can learn more about him and the Atheist Coalition by visiting AtheistCoalition.org.

A World Etched by Water - John Baumgardner
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
You probably wouldn’t expect a committed evolutionist with a secular upbringing, who earned multiple graduate degrees in the hard sciences from prestigious universities, to end up being one of the world’s leading creation scientists. But that’s exactly what happened with Dr. John Baumgardner of the Logos Research Associates, the foremost expert on Noah’s Flood and its significance to Earth’s geology.
After completing his BS in electrical engineering at Texas Tech and MS in electrical engineering from Princeton, John began work on his PhD. Some other students invited him to a Bible study that was covering the gospel of John, and despite his secular background he soon found himself face to face with Jesus. John gave his life to the Lord, and then had to determine how to best use his life for the Lord, while using his scientific training and also fulfilling his prior commitment to the U. S. Air Force. John talks with Kevin about his subsequent journey from witnessing with Campus Crusade for Christ, to earning more graduate degrees at UCLA, to creating the world’s greatest geologic modeling software, to developing anti-missile lasers for the Star Wars program at Los Alamos National Laboratory, to leading the Carbon-14 research with the RATE project, to joining the Logos Research Associates. He also shares some of the many evidences he has discovered as to why it was a global flood, not uniformitarian processes, that shaped the earth’s geologic features into what they are today.
You can learn more about John’s work with the Logos Research Associates, including how to get involved, at LogosResearchAssociates.org. You can find out more about the results of the RATE project (which set out to evaluate the alleged evidence for an old earth from radioisotopes) in the popular book Thousands, Not Billions, or the more technical volume Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth, available from many book sellers.

From Bondage to Victory - Patti Height
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
The issue of homosexuality is a hot button topic in today's society. For Christians, it is even more so. In regards to the LGBT community, Christians and the church are often seen as bigoted, hypocritical, unloving, and uncaring. But is there a way for the church to change this perception and come alongside this community to minister to them and love them?
Guest Patti Height believes there is. She has founded Out of Egypt Ministries to help churches accomplish this goal. Out of Egypt is a non-profit ministry that is dedicated to speaking forth the truth of God’s Word to a generation that has been enslaved by lies. Patti Height knows the destructive bondage that comes as a result of believing and living under this deception and began this ministry with a desire to help others find the same peace and healing she found, through faith in Jesus Christ. As a teen, Patti turned to alcohol and drugs and later entered into the world of homosexuality. For many years she believed the lie that there was no hope for change, and her life spiraled down as a result. Today, Patti’s life is a testimony to the transforming power of God and the truth of His Word. In 2003, she was set free from the bondage of addiction and homosexuality and is now committed to sharing with others the hope and freedom she found in the Gospel.
To learn more about Patti Height and her ministry, visit outofegyptministries.org. You can also find a list of events to hear her speak.

Drug Addicts Break Free - Herlindo Salinas and Mike Conway

"Once a junkie, always a junkie." That's what Herlindo had been told, and that's what he believed about himself. However, even 16 years into his heroin addiction his mother told him something different: "Son, I know that someday you are going to change. I am praying for you." Today Herlindo is San Diego County's Director of Teen Challenge, the very organization that helped him turn his life around in 1990.
In this episode, Kevin talks to Herlindo and his assistant director Mike about the impact that Teen Challenge has had on their lives and the lives of countless others. The ministry was started by David Wilkinson (author of The Cross and the Switchblade) in 1960, and it is still helping teens and adults step out of drug addiction today. Teen Challenge is not a rehab center and does not just teach behavior modification. Instead, it takes those whose lives have been destroyed by drug addiction and introduces them to the one person who can actually help: Jesus Christ.
Learn more by visiting TeenChallenge.org(/SDTC for San Diego). You can help Teen Challenge help others by praying for them, donating to the organization at GiveTC.com, and getting involved in Teen Challenge events such as the San Diego Walk for Recovery on September 24th (TCWalks.com)
