Great for stress relief, relaxing, air falling asleep. Perfect for insomnia. Whenever I need to relax or I am just having trouble sleeping I play this at a low volume on my bedroom TV. Ok, so we split the yellow hive two weeks ago and started the orange hive again. Then we found the orange queen and accidentally painted her white. Well, now it's time to split the hive again. There are so many bees in this hive they cannot get into the hive through the landing board. The problem is, now I can't find the white queen. They cleaned off her paint. Arrrg! The Red Flowhive has been an evil hive since the beginning of the season. The bees are the spawn of an"Italian" VSH Queen from California but I think she may have a little Africanized bee in her. The bees are very aggressive and attach me every time I open the hive. Now it's time for her to go. I am on a seek and destroy mission to find the evil queen and remover her. This is the secret 10 frame hive project I have been teasing for the past few months. During this unexpected time off I managed to get into the shop and complete the build. The Blue hive has decided to split and creates a massive swarm in the tree and over the house. The sound is audible from the ground. It is certainly a sight to see but losing this many bees because of my own errors when inspecting the blue hive is depressing. The nectar flow has started in Georgia and I am removing the hive heaters and installing the honey supers on the hives. The flow hives are primed with wax and installed on the hives. How-To Fix A Weak Hive - Bee Infusion -- Adding bees to the Orange hive and hoping they stay.: I may have tried to make the split to early. This is another attempt to save the orange hive. I should have moved the new queen into a new box with some bees and left the queen cells in the Blue hive. Added more bees and sugar syrup and then locked them in the hive for a few days. I hope this forces the bees to adopt he orange hive as their own and not just take the sugar syrup and fly home to the Blue hive. Working hard to stop the robbing and waiting on the nectar flow to start. The new Orange hive is hanging by a thread. Ever since the split the hive has been getting robbed out by the blue hive next door. We have a new Piping Queen in the Blue hive. Now it is time to perform an early March split before these girls swarm.If I wasn't prepared to split a hive in March but the bees will do what the bee will do and the bees want to split. The blue hive has three fully developed queen cells and a virgin queen walking around the hive piping. An it looks like we are adding to the 2020 sting-O-meter again. Ouch. RED DAWN - The RED Queen is EVIL! -- A string of bad decisions lead to the ultimate payback. The red hive has been an issue since last year but all of the bees in the hive this year are direct descendants for the RED queen. This video contains a lot of bad decisions starting with a quick heater check first thing in the morning. A couple of lessons to take away is if you have a hot hive and you need to do an inspection of your hives; inspect the HOT hive last. Secondly, do not open feed the bees prior to doing a hive inspection. You would think I would have learned hat lesson last year when the open feeding and hive inspections led to a robbing situation. I didn't follow these simple rules and the red hive attacks leaving me with several bee stings. Last week we prepared the flow frames by pre-waxing them and this week we need to assemble the medium frames for the 10 new medium supers I will be using this year. How-to prepare your Flow Hive frames and give your bees a head start. If you own a Flow Hive or a Flow Hive 2 and the bees aren't taking to the flow frames this simple tip should get them pointed in the right direction. I have heard many people say "The bees are not sealing the flow frames" or "the bees don't like the flow frames" but they may just need a little push in the right direction. I am pre-waxing the flow frames to make it easier for the bees to complete the frames in time for the spring nectar flow. Last year I was only able to harvest from one flow hive because the bees in the second hive never finished waxing the frames. When I installed the first flow hive last season I had pre-waxed the frames and the bees took right to it. I hope that pre-waxing the flow hive frames works on the second flow hive this year.
