Washington: Lake Sammamish Kayak Fest 2015

The local Canoe, kayak, and paddleboard manufacturers have come up with a Brilliant plan. !
Once a year, in early May, they converge on the shores of Seattle’s Lake Sammamish to offer FREEE TEST DRIVES !! You sign in at the registration desk, let them hold your drivers license, and they’ll give you a wrist band. With the wrist band, you can take out ANY canoe, kayak, paddleboard, or rowing machine on the shore. Manufacturers and a few retail stores have set up tents with experts to show off the latest technologies and equipment in the canoeing industry, the experts will teach you all you need to know about which device you gravitate towards, and answer any questions you may have.
it’s an incredible event, made even better because it’s not really advertised. I just happened to be driving by, saw the canoes and stopped in out of curiosity. There were still plenty of boards to try out. You can take out a canoe, paddle around for a bit, bring it back and try a rowing machine, then come back and try a kayak. What a great day!! The promoters also show off the latest devices to haul around your toys, as well as devices to get them from the car to the shore front. Demonstrator models on electric motors for your board, fishing gear to hook on to your kayak, even peddle paddles for using your feet instead of your hands on some kayaks. I spent the day there taking pictures and asking questions, I left there a great deal more informed, with some great pictures.
