READING THE BIBLE - 1st Kings Chapter 14 - Ahijah's Prophecy Against Jeroboam

Ahijah's Prophecy Against Jeroboam predicts the fall of King Jeroboam and the death of his son. Jeroboam's wife is told that as soon as she returns to her city, her son will die. Yet, she returns to the city without hesitation.

This is a chapter that shows God's willingness to stand beside mortals who fail over and over again. Jeroboam worshipped demons and false idols. Yet, again, God is ready to forgive and show mercy. This should be a blessing.

We need to read the Bible to learn what God says. We can’t simply trust whatever we hear. We need to hold ourselves accountable for being ready to speak up and share the hope that is in us.
