Russia takes out three U.S.-made Ukrainian missile systems, video purportedly shows

The Russian Defense Ministry has reported it has destroyed three US-supplied Ukrainian High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). ‘Up to 10 foreign specialists servicing those systems’ were also killed in the strike. The ministry stated that the HIMARS were destroyed through coordinated actions involving Russian warplanes, drones, artillery, and missile forces. However, it did not disclose the specific location of the strike or the nationalities of the foreign personnel involved. Unconfirmed footage of the attack circulating on Russian Telegram channels suggest the strike occurred in Russia’s Kherson Region.

This incident follows previous claims by the ministry of destroying another HIMARS system, in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region. Western-supplied HIMARS and ATAMCS missiles systems have been in the spotlight in recent weeks, following NATO’s decision to allow Ukraine to strike at targets inside Russian territory, which have resulted in significant numbers of civilian casualties. Russia has accused the US of ‘encouraging Kiev terrorists to commit new crimes.’
