Support for a digital Canadian dollar was highest among teens and young adults, while older Canadians were particularly skeptical, questioning its necessity, security, and the privacy of their personal information. The study concluded that broad early adoption of a digital dollar is unlikely, given that current payment methods meet the needs of most Canadians. It also emphasized that financially vulnerable groups, who might benefit the most from a digital payment option, are the most resistant to adopting it. Key considerations for a successful digital currency include universal merchant acceptance, low costs, ease of access, and strong privacy features. Although some government officials champion digital currencies as the future, critics argue they could be used as a tool for control, similar to China’s social credit system. It has previously been reported that a public survey by the BOC showed a strong preference for retaining cash and not proceeding with a digital version of the Canadian dollar. Trudeau has also quietly passed restrictions that allow you to be arrested for things you said more than 10 years ago online. Scotland is pushing similar censorship restrictions with 7 year prison sentences for insulting people. Paris is bringing in digital IDs as the Olympics approach. They're also banning private cars in the center of Paris and have already banned short haul domestic flights. They're debanking countless people and restricting people from donating to charities that don't align with their establishment narrative. This recently happened to Gareth Ick. In the UK they're calling for mandated smart meters on people's homes as we've previously reported. In New York City, they're rolling out food police to stop the consumption of meat.
