Fairfax County Police continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on September 16 in the 11800 block of Sunrise Valley Drive in Reston. This tragic incident resulted in the death of 33-year-old Sydney Wilson and has sparked wider conversations on the intersection of mental health and law enforcement. It took our hero a few seconds to realize this, presumably because he wasn’t prepared for being surrounded by a machete-wielding gang in the middle of his shift. Dashcam footage from an incident in London on June 23 shows this exact scenario play out, as a terrified man desperately fights off people trying to stab him. The attackers had pulled up behind the cab in another vehicle, and one of them smashes the cab’s window as blades fly at the passenger from all sides. The cab eventually pulls away, making the slowest getaway known to man (thanks ULEZ). Thankfully, the passenger’s injuries were not life threatening, but he still decided to go to the hospital, and perhaps wisely, decided to make his way there himself.
