"Fly Like An Eagle," written by Steve Miller, was the band's third top 20 hit rising to no. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976; twenty years later, 1996, English singer Seal had his third and final top 20 hit with his version of the song, which rose to no. 10 on the chart (Whitburn, 2013). In 2008, Miller stated "'Fly Like An Eagle' is always about 12 minutes long (in concert). We have always built our recordings so they have room for spontaneity. My jazz and blues influence is what started us as a jam band originally. 'Fly Like An Eagle' was developed over a period of time as a jam. To me it's much more interesting to see a musician be spontaneous than it is to see someone perform perfectly something they do note for note the same way every night" (songfacts, 2024). Seal's version of the song was featured in the 1996 film "Space Jam" (T. Benitez-Eves, americansongwriter, 2023).
