20240310 Day 700 Part-1 Warmups & Midsection

Last night I noticed my right hamstring was unusually tight, almost worryingly so. It was fine this morning but things can get wierd deep into a conditioning session. With that in mind, I did a bit more warmup than I might have otherwise.

Normally, if I’m tight, I’ll just do a “practice mile” which does 2 things: First, it’s preparatory activity for the actual work. Second, it lets me verify the bike actually works properly.

Today, I rolled that hamstring to loosen it up first. Then, to get some blood into the entire posterior chain I did the Quadruplex for a minute each side. I followed that with a minute of Good Mornings with a Monster-Mini Band.

I took my, “practice mile” next and had a really good 25Km session as a result. That may have been the case without the extra warming up but better to err on the side of caution.

Taking some time on the front end to identify hazards and establish controls for safety is literally my day job. I would be a fool to not apply that mindset to my day to day training as well.
