The #Democrats have launched a coordinated attack campaign against Independent presidential candidate Robert F. #Kennedy, Jr. -- accusing him of (among other things) throwing the election to former President Donald Trump. "RFK Jr. is a spoiler for Donald Trump," said Matt Corridoni, a DNC spokesperson. He added that Kennedy is "now providing Trump cover by parroting #MAGA talking points downplaying January 6th." Meanwhile, the #Republicans are attacking Kennedy as a "far-left radical" as Trump himself said in a recent campaign video, but the former president also said in the video that he is "glad RFK Jr. is running" because he will take votes from President #Biden. Mr. Kennedy responded in a post on X today: https://twitter.com/RobertKennedyJr/status/1779899736176091407 It is true that many of #RFKJr's biggest financial backers are also top Trump donors, and there is without doubt a lot of cross-pollination within the two camps. Team Kennedy counts a lot of former Trump voters, volunteers, and supporters within the campaign's diverse political ranks. There is certainly a meeting of the minds and agreement on many key issues. But is this happening organically, or is it strategic? Are Team Trump operatives infiltrating the Kennedy campaign? We have to wonder. A campaign staffer working for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s independent presidential bid recently raised the prospect of blocking President Joe #Biden from being re-elected by sending the election to the House of Representatives, where House members could elect former President Donald Trump, instead. Rita Palma, alongtime New York-basedcriticof vaccination mandates, appears in a recently uploaded video to be giving a presentation aimed at persuading #Republican voters to help Kennedy qualify for the state’s presidential ballot this fall. She identifies herself in the video as the campaign’s New York state director, though the campaign said Monday that she is a "ballot access consultant" and that her comments don't reflect overall campaign strategy. In those comments, Palma says that she knocked on doors for Trump's campaigns in 2016 and 2020 and has "more Trump T-shirts than I do Bobby Kennedy T-shirts" but that Trump "lost" her because of "the vaccines." Palma goes on to declare Biden the "mutual enemy" of the Trump and Kennedy voter and says her "No. 1 priority" is depriving Biden of his re-election, not helping Kennedy win. "Whether you support Bobby or Trump, we all oppose Biden.And my thoughts are that, you know, that’s the No. 1 priority in the country," she says in the video. And she outlines a specific way to do just that. While national Democrats focus on cutting Kennedy down in key swing states that typically decide elections, Palma pitches the prospect of depriving Biden of wins in blue states like New York. That, according to Palma, could keep both Trump and Biden short of the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the presidential election, leaving the choice to the currently GOP-controlled House, which she says would choose Trump. In a statement,Kennedy campaign manager Amaryllis Foxdescribed Palma as a "ballot access consultant responsible for scheduling volunteer shifts for our upcoming signature collection drive in the Empire State" and said it should be no surprise that different Kennedy backers come from different ends of the ideological spectrum. “As an independent movement, our supporters, volunteers, and field organizers come from all sides of the political spectrum and their reasons for supporting Mr. Kennedy are as disparate as their backgrounds,” the campaign statement said. “She is not involved in electoral strategy, nationally or in New York. This was not a campaign event. Palma was speaking as a private citizen and her statements in no way reflect the strategy of the Kennedy campaign, which is to win the White House with votes from former Trump and Biden supporters alike," the #Kennedy24 campaign statement continued. Since #RFK announced his run for the White House a year ago this month (he was then running in the Democratic Party; Kennedy switched to Independent last October), there have been several discreet approaches from the Trump camp -- particularly Roger Stone -- asking Mr. Kennedy if he was interested in the VP running mate slot on Trump's GOP ticket. The answer from Kennedy was always "thank you, but no thanks." "There is no question that in a close presidential race," #Trump strategist Roger Stone told the New York Times Wednesday, "independent or minor party candidates can have a disproportionately large impact." In this highlight from Episode 27 of "Strange Bedfellows" we spoke to Roger Stone's longtime friend and personal attorney Tyler Nixon (who is also an RFK supporter) about why he wants to see a unity ticket of Trump and Kennedy this year. Nixon says such a pairing is the only way we can not only heal the divide but actually drain the swamp. While such a unity ticket seems unlikely, that does not rule out the possibility of Mr. Kennedy serving the Trump administration in a cabinet position or Ambassadorship, perhaps. (I'll just say right now that the son of Robert Kennedy running the Department of Justice would be like hiring Roto-Rooter to drain that swamp, Mr. Trump!) We also discussed the recent attacks on Kennedy from the #DNC, President Biden, and their affiliated media mouthpieces. The New York Attorney General may start collecting former president #Trump’s assets if he fails to post a bond by next Monday. Trump was hit with a penalty that came to around $454 million after interest and would have had to pay a bond slightly higher than that amount to stave off the state from seizing assets, such as his many real estate holdings, to cover the penalty. An appeals court later ruled that he could instead pay a lower bond of $175 million. Trump posted $175 million bond on April 1 to prevent James from seizing his assets while he attempts to appeal the civil fraud ruling against him. New York Judge Arthur Engoron previously found Trump, his adult sons Donald Jr. and Eric, and The Trump Organization liable for a scheme in which the value of Trump’s net worth and assets were unlawfully inflated to obtain more favorable business deals. Trump, the presumptive 2024 #GOP presidential nominee, has maintained his innocence in the matter. The bond was then rejected by the court’s filing system shortly after it was posted due to missing paperwork, including a “current financial statement.” James, whose office led the fraud case against Trump, later raised questions about the “sufficiency” of the bond and noted that the surety backing it, Knight Specialty Insurance Company (KSIC), is not admitted in New York, meaning it’s ineligible to obtain a certificate of qualification from the Department of Financial Services. KSIC has refiled its paperwork as a result in an effort to get the process moving again. New York A.G. Letitia James cited a statute “which indicates that within ten days (that is—by April 15, as April 14 is a Sunday) either Trump or the KNIC must file a motion in court to ‘justify the surety.’ If not, then pursuant to statute, the bond shall ‘be without effect’.” If that happens, the state of New York can start seizing Trump’s assets immediately. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is pushing back on the latest attempt by former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants to disqualify her entire office from prosecuting the election subversion case in Georgia, according to a new court filing Monday. Willis asked the Georgia Court of Appeals to uphold Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee’s initial ruling that allowed her to remain on the criminal case if her top prosecutor, Nathan Wade, resigned. Wade resigned within hours of McAfee’s ruling last month. The appeals court is weighing a request from #Trump and several others charged in #Georgia to review and overturn McAfee’s earlier decision. Willis argued on Monday that the appeals court should deny that request. In Monday’s filing, the Fulton County district attorney’s office insisted again that there was no conflict of interest and said that Willis’ comments about race playing a role in criticism of her office did not rise to misconduct requiring disqualification. While Willis has attempted to shift attention back to the criminal case itself after the detour over ethics allegations for more than two months, Trump and his co-defendants are still arguing the romantic relationship between Willis and Wade created a conflict of interest. “At a minimum, DA Willis and her office should have been disqualified from prosecuting the case,” Trump’s lead Georgia-based attorney Steve Sadow wrote when he asked the appeals court to take up his case. “The Georgia Court of Appeals should grant the application and accept the interlocutory appeal for consideration on the merits.” It is now up to the Georgia Court of Appeals to decide if they want to review the decision not to disqualify Willis and her office. This appeal doesn’t pause the prosecution, which continues to play out before trial. From allegations of plotting to overturn a lost election to illegally stowing classified documents at his Florida estate, former President Donald Trump faces four criminal indictments in four different cities as he vies to reclaim the White House. The cases, totaling 91 felony counts, are winding through the courts at different speeds. Some might not reach trial this year, while one is set to begin in a matter of weeks. Then there are the civil cases. On Friday a judge ordered the former president and his companies to pay nearly $355 million in a ruling in the New York civil fraud case, and barred #Trump from conducting business in New York for three years. A recent ruling in the E. Jean Carroll case will set Trump back yet another $83 million. Meanwhile in Georgia, prosecutors on Friday called witnesses to push back on claims that a romantic relationship between Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis and Nathan Wade — the prosecutor she hired to lead her case against former president Donald Trump — should disqualify her. Trump and his co-defendants are seeking to have Willis removed from the case over the relationship. At this point, we need a team of lawyers just to keep up with Trump’s court calendar, and the litany of lawsuits he’s juggling. So we called one of the best legal analysts we know to break all this down for our viewers. Over 2000 pages of unsealed documents from a lawsuit connected to accused sex-trafficker Jeffrey #Epstein were publicly released on Wednesday. This is the first set of documents to be unsealed under a December 18 court order, with more expected in the coming weeks. The documents in total, including material yet to be unsealed, are expected to include hundreds of names, including some of Epstein’s accusers, prominent businesspeople, politicians and potentially more. The document dump arrived late Wednesday evening, January 3rd, while Maverick News was live on the air. I dived right in and already found some eyebrow-raising revelations. Here’s what I’ve discovered in the court documents so far about former Presidents Bill #Clinton and Donald #Trump, 2024 Independent presidential candidate #RFKJr, Epstein’s former attorney Alan #Dershowitz, Prince Andrew, as well Michael Jackson and Steven Hawking (both deceased). Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide while awaiting trial five years ago. His convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in 2021 and remains in prison. This morning former president Donald Trump announced that he is expecting to be arrested next week in connection with alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels. But is this case by the Manhattan D.A. merely a means to an end; a precursor to bringing federal charges for far more serious crimes such as violations of the Espionage Act? After the FBI raid on former President #Trump's Mar-A-Lago home last August, we learned that thesearch warrantindicated the search was conducted in connection with, among other things,the Espionage Act. Violations of the Espionage Act always carry long prison sentences. If convicted, Trump could spend the rest of his life behind bars. The Espionage Act is actually a series of statutes under18 US Code Chapter 37related to the collection, retention, or dissemination of national defense or classified information. The Mar-a-Lago search warrant referred to Section 793 — “Gathering, transmitting or losing defense information,” which doesn’t just cover “spying” in the sense that many think of when they hear the term. Section 793 specifically states that people legally granted access tonational defense documents— people like the former president — are subject to punishment should they improperly retain that information. Two months before the FBI executed an unprecedented raid of a former president's home, seizing more than 100 classified documents, some agents wanted to believe that Donald Trump's attorneys had already conducted a thoroughsearch of the Mar-a-Lago premises in Palm Beach, Florida. Anew report from The Washington Postrevealed how FBI agents and Justice Department prosecutors clashed on how to proceed with a criminal probe into Trump's handling of classified records prior to the months that led up to the Mar-a-Lago raid. While some FBI officials pushed to get consent from Trump to search his property, other field agents wanted to close the criminal investigation entirely by early June after Trump's attorneys claimed they conducted a"diligent search"of Mar-a-Lago, according to people familiar with the discussions and who spoke to The Post on the condition of anonymity to talk about a sensitive investigation. On June 3, 2022, a few FBI agents and a DOJ official convened at Mar-a-Lago to retrieve remaining classified documents that were in Trump's possession. Christina Bobb, one of Trump's attorneys, signed a letter attesting that a careful search was completed,according to a court filing. On this edition of Maverick News, we hear some pretty astonishing details about what happened that day from Trump attorneys Christina Bobb and Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani himself is also in hot water legally, facing a litany of potential charges that could potentially send him to prison as well. Giuliani’s legal liability is “profound,” says Norm Eisen, a senior fellow in governance studies at The Brookings Institution, who was counsel to the Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee during Trump’s first impeachment. Eisen led a team of legal experts at the Brookings Institution to examine what criminal acts may have been taken by Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election results. In the Department of Justice investigation, special counsel Smith is charged with looking into who may have “unlawfully interfered” with the transfer of power after the 2020 election or the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6. Eisen says that Giuliani may have broken federal law against being a part of a conspiracy to defraud the United States by spreading false election fraud claims and promoting slates of fake electors, as well as laws against obstructing an official proceeding in Congress. “He has as serious criminal risk as anyone other than Donald Trump,” Eisen says. Will President #Biden and the #Democrats go full Banana Republic and "lock them up" to stop their 2024 political rivals? We also discuss the irony of Trump possibly being charged with the very same law he used to arrest, imprison, extradite and prosecute Julian #Assange. Assange faces 175 years in prison for alleged violations of the Espionage Act.
