We have constructed legalistic systems and expectations both personally and corporately. Therefore, throw off the yoke of legalism. Walk in the Spirit. • Rom. 7:7 What was Paul lusting after? I suspect that the object of Paul's desire was not the sensual type of sin we usually associate with lust. No, I believe Paul was lusting after prestige. He wanted to excel as a scholar—which seems a noble goal. Yet as he studied the law, I believe he saw that the underlying reason for his pursuit was a hunger for prominence.

• Rom. 7:8 The law also stirs up sin (v. Rom_7:7). sin was dead: Sin can exist without the law (Rom_5:13), although without law it may be dormant. Without standards of right and wrong, there can be no judgment of what is sin and what is not. The law, however, with its commands against certain behaviors, can arouse the desire to perform those evil behaviors (v. Rom_7:5).

Personal Supplication
Father, in the name of Jesus, I throw off the yoke of legalism that may be hindering me from walking in Your ways from NOW on. Jer 31:33-34
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, And write it in their hearts; And will be their God, And they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: For they shall all know me, From the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: For I will forgive their iniquity, And I will remember their sin no more.
