2024 Independent presidential candidate Robert F. #Kennedy Jr. has been under attack from every direction in recent weeks, evidencing the threat he poses to the two-party system. Since the addition of Nicole Shanahan to the ticket as #RFK's running mate, #Democrats are growing increasingly concerned about the electoral impact Kennedy might have on President #Biden's re-election chances. Biden continues to trail behind former president #Trump in the polls -- but not by much; a percentage point or two, within the margin of error. That means November is shaping up to be a very close contest, and already #RFKJr is being made the scapegoat for whichever party loses. Democrats are calling him a spoiler for MAGA, saying that a vote for Bobby is a vote for Trump. Republicans call him a spoiler for Biden, saying that a vote for Bobby is a vote for Biden. Both the Biden and Trump camps are also deploying scare tactics to frighten away potential RFK voters by falsely labeling him some sort of extremist. Donald Trump called Kennedy a "Marxist, far-left radical" this week, in what seemed a desperate attempt to bring #MAGA voters who might vote for Kennedy back into the fold. His son Donald Trump Jr. and Fox News Trump mouthpiece Sean Hannity also hit hard at RFK this week, attacking his environmental record and other "loony liberal" policies. Democratic Party operatives like Lis Smith and Keith Olbermann, meanwhile, are labeling the Kennedy/Shanahan ticket as "far-right," "MAGA," and even "fascist!" Their media lapdogs launched a series of hit pieces this week attacking Kennedy's stances on everything from #abortion to puberty blockers, gun control, and the #Gaza war. Then came the "brain worms" story that caused a feeding frenzy, providing late-night comedy fodder and even prompting Kennedy to crack a few jokes about it. 24 Independent Presidential candidate Robert F. #Kennedy Jr. has been strangely silent the past few weeks about the #antisemitic, pro-#Hamas protests happening on college campuses. Although #RFKJr has been asked about it in recent interviews, and answers briefly in a lawyerly manner about the difference between demonstrations on public vs. private property, he has otherwise completely avoided talking about the issue. While every other candidate in the presidential race issued statements on this national crisis immediately, Kennedy waited nearly three weeks before speaking up. Kennedy finally posted a tweet about the campus unrest Saturday outlining what he would do as president to ensure fairness to all students on campus, but said nothing about what he would do to stop the lawlessness and violence we are witnessing on campuses across America. https://twitter.com/RobertKennedyJr/status/1786943517710786626 Kennedy has proclaimed himself to be strongly pro-Israel, and supports #Israel's war against Hamas. At the same time, he says he is "very pro-Palestinian," and supports the two-state solution that would establish #Palestine as an independent sovereign nation. Is Kennedy doing the same "both sides" dance as President #Biden, afraid of losing progressive Democrats and Gen Z voters? Are his campaign advisers telling Bobby to tone down his pro-Israel rhetoric in order to appease the woke mob? At a time when #antisemitism escalating to frightening levels, #Jews are being assaulted in the streets, and some protesters are issuing calls to "kill all the Zionists," it feels like open season on Jews. The exclusion of Jewish "#Zionists" from campuses, establishment of "Zionist-free zones," Jewish students not being allowed to attend class, acts of harassment, intimidation and violence, hate speech and symbols of Jew hatred on campus property are all flagrant violations of the 1964 Civil Rights Act -- which is not being enforced by campus administrators, state governments, or the federal government. 2024 Independent presidential candidate Robert F. #Kennedy, Jr. surprised everyone with a March 26th announcement that Nicole #Shanahan would be his VP running mate. A short list leaked two weeks earlier did not include Shanahan's name, instead speculation swirled around names like Tulsi Gabbard, Jesse Ventura, Aaron Rodgers, Mike Rowe, or Andrew Yang, among others. On Episode 28 of the Kennedy Americans podcast I hosted a live roundtable on X Spaces (formerly Twitter) asking #RFKJr campaign staffers, supporters and volunteers who attended the announcement in Oakland last week for their reactions to Shanahan. Emotions were mixed, to say the least! Some were passionately disappointed, while others expressed excitement. The selection of Shanahan is obviously a shift to the left (both Kennedy and Shanahan are former #Democrats), leaving many of #RFK's #libertarian and #conservative voters wondering if they can continue to support a "Democrat-lite" ticket. Following the exits of #Vivek Ramaswamy and Gov. Ron #DeSantis from the 2024 presidential contest, many of their #Republican supporters are now joining #TeamKennedy. This week, 2024 Independent presidential candidate Robert F. #Kennedy, Jr. added two more states to his successful nationwide petition drive for ballot access: New Hampshire and #Hawaii. Since the start of 2024, the #RFKJr campaign has collected enough ballot petition signatures to place his name on the general election ballot in three states, including #Utah, where Kennedy's petition was approved by the Secretary of State earlier this month. On Tuesday, #Kennedy24 campaign manager Amaryllis Fox-Kennedy announced that campaign volunteers had collected more than 3,000 petition signatures in a single day during an election day drive around the state of #NewHampshire, meeting the threshold for ballot access in the Granite state. Hawaii requires 5,800 signatures to place #Kennedy's name on the November ballot. The #RFK campaign says they've now exceeded that number, but will continue to collect signatures in Hawaii to ensure they have more than enough to qualify. On this date in 1961 the newly sworn-in John F. #Kennedy began his first day as president. As evidenced by the first Executive Order he signed that day, expanding food assistance to the poor (what is known today as food stamps, or SNAP benefits), relieving poverty was at the top of his agenda for the New Frontier. #JFK also inherited a troubled #economy. The country was in a #recession -- it's third in 10 years -- at the time Kennedy took the oath of office on January 20, 1961. When he was arrested after the #RFK assassination, one of #Sirhan Sirhan’s appellate lawyers says there was a newspaper clipping in Sirhan’s pocket that discussed the incongruity of Sen. Robert Kennedy’s advocacy for the oppressed while also supporting #Israel over #Palestine. Sirhan’s friend and appellate attorney says he cannot be certain there was not some sort of conspiracy, but has little doubt Sirhan shot Kennedy. “Sirhan never said there was somebody else,” Abdeen Jabara insists. The official motive for Sirhan’s murder of #RFK was “anti-#Zionism.” After he was captured by Kennedy’s bodyguards, witnesses in the Ambassador Hotel kitchen heard Sirhan say: “I can explain. I did it for my country. I love my country." On Episode 20 of the "Kennedy Americans" podcast, we take a deep dive into the debate over RFK's convicted killer Sirhan's innocence or guilt. Was he a mind-controlled patsy, or a Palestinian terrorist? Whether Sirhan's motives were political or not, he has been heralded as a hero in the Palestinian Liberation Movement for assassinating Robert F. Kennedy (an act Sirhan claims he has no memory of). Shortly after the RFK assassination, Al Fatah, the Arab Commando organization, distributed thousands of posters with pictures of Sirhan over the words, “I did it for my country! “ In 1973, when the Black September group burst into the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Khartoum and took 10 hostages, their demands included the release of Sirhan Sirhan from prison. Sirhan told David Frost in a 1989 interview: "I wanted to show that the Palestinian problem didn't just erupt with the assassination of #Kennedy," a reference to the displacement of Palestinians after the Arab-Israeli war of 1948. "If I had shot Bobby Kennedy in an Arab country, I doubt any Arab court would have convicted me," he said with a smile. By killing RFK Sirhan advanced the cause of the Palestinians, a cause which promoted the return of Arab land from the state of Israel. He told Robert Kaiser in 1969, "They (the Palestinians) want action. They want results. Hey! I produced action for them. I'm a big hero over there." Sirhan’s guilty plea, conviction, and strong anti-Israel motives do not necessarily exclude the possibility of other gunmen present who may have delivered the fatal shots to Kennedy, as some historians suggest. However, the fact remains that Sirhan did fire and hit 5 other people that night -- even if his shots did not strike Kennedy. In this episode we will explore the theories of mind control and blanks fired from Sirhan's gun advanced by case researcher Lisa Pease. We'll discuss my late friend Paul Schrade's efforts to get the case re-opened, and how he finally convinced #RFKJr that Sirhan could not have acted alone. We will also dive into the dispute between the RFK family members over parole for Sirhan, which was denied for the 17th time in 2023. Sirhan Sirhan is now 79. If he is ever released on parole he will most likely be deported immediately back to Palestine or Jordan because he is not a U.S. citizen. Will he receive a hero's welcome in the Arab world? We can only wonder. Finally, we address concerns over #RFKJr's safety as he now finds himself treading the same dangerous waters that inflamed his father's convicted killer: campaigning for president on an antiwar platform while staunchly supporting Israel's war against #Hamas, attracting death threats from mentally ill stalkers and pro-Palestine fanatics while left unprotected by the U.S. Secret Service. On Episode 19 of "#Kennedy Americans" we hosted a live town hall meeting on X (formerly Twitter) Spaces asking voters if they think #RFKJR's foreign policy on the #Israel/#Hamas war is right or wrong. Our special guest was former U.N. Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter, who argued against Mr. Kennedy's support for Israel. Ritter has been a longtime supporter of Israel and worked with Israeli intelligence during the 1990s, but changed his view after October 7 and now supports #Palestine in the conflict. During the open mic portion of the podcast we heard from more than 50 speakers with varying points of view: pro-Israel, pro-Palestine, and anti-intervention. Everyone was asked to speak as if they were talking directly to Mr. Kennedy, offering their advice on what they think he should do to bring #peace in the Middle East as our next president. Mr. Kennedy listens to the people, and takes all views under consideration. This town hall was co-moderated by Christina Tobin of Free and Equal Elections, who will be hosting the first Independent and Third-Party presidential candidate debate in February 2024. Adrian Paul Aispuro, the man who stands accused of bringing numerous firearms and a backpack full of ammunition to a September 15th #RFKJr campaign event, was in court October 3rd for a mental competency hearing. Aispuro returns to court October 16th for another hearing on the Temporary Restraining Order placed upon him by a judge that ordered the seizure of many weapons found in his possession by Los Angeles Police. I've been covering Aispuro's case and have new details to share with you on this episode of "#Kennedy Americans" that will send a shiver down your spine.
