Like Oreo, so many dogs out there live their lives chained to a post outside, in all weather conditions, without any freedom of activity. It is with these dogs in mind that a charity organization has been formed to help them build better lives.

The mission of the Coalition to Unchain Dogs is to improve the welfare of dogs living continuously chained outdoors by providing free spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and fences, while bolstering connections between these dogs and their human companions through non-judgmental assistance and sharing of information designed to raise general community expectations regarding the standards of care for pets living there.

When the folks from the Coalition came to Oreo and Mama, the dogs’ reaction was just too much. Both of them were wagging their tails, eager for some tender love and care.

These people built a sturdy fence for the two of them so that they could play without being tied down. When Oreo and Mama were placed inside their new homes, they were so excited that they couldn’t stop buzzing around. With their tails still wagging, Mama and Oreo ran around with so much energy that the Coalition to Unchain Dogs team knew they had done their part to help out.

I love that they did this. It would have been even better if they would have built ONE fenced in area so they could be together and keep each other company and play together.
