During a government crisis cabinet meeting in Paris Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron pointed the blame at social media platforms, like TikTok and Snapchat, for their “major role” in the country’s recent riots. Violent protests have exploded across France since a teenager was shot and killed by a police officer during a traffic stop in a Paris suburb Tuesday. Macron made an appeal to social media platforms to remove “sensitive content” in an effort to quell the riots.
