Study Of The Book Of Nehemiah - Rebuilding The Broken Walls & Lives Of The Captivity Returnees By Faith! | Neh. 7:4-7
• Neh. 7:4 Few compared to the size of the city which was large enough to hold thousands more than those who settled there from the first two groups of captives that returned under Zerubbabel and Ezra. In Neh_11:1-2 lots were cast to bring one out of every ten people into Jerusalem, so as to make the city more inhabited, for few of the former inhabitants came back from captivity. The houses not built could only refer to the fact that the many houses which the open spaces of Jerusalem could hold were not built; that is, there was plenty of room for other houses. It could not mean that there were no houses built in Jerusalem at all, for many were already finished and people were living in them.

• Neh. 7:5 With this good man every good thing was of God. If he purposed any good, it was because God put it into his heart; if he did any good, it was because the good hand of his God was upon him; if he expected any good, it was because he earnestly prayed God to remember him for good. Thus, in all his ways he acknowledged God, and God directed all his steps.

• Neh. 7:6-7 The registration in the genealogy is not an invention of Nehemiah. God has put it into his heart. He speaks about “my God” because he has a personal and close relationship with Him. He knows God and knows what God wants, he understands His voice and knows His purpose. Nehemiah found a register through which he finds out who used to live in Jerusalem. He can therefore encourage them to live there again. Such people may have forgotten their connection with Jerusalem through their stay in Babylon. Or maybe they don’t feel like living so close to God anymore. A little further away, more in touch with the people around you, is not as oppressive as being so close to God.

Personal Supplication
Father in the name of Jesus, I receive the grace to be steadfast, unmoveable and always abound (tirelessly) in Your work 1 Cor 15:58 AMP
1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].

Daily Covenant Favor Declaration
