Buddha was a spiritual teacher in Nepal during the 6th century B.C. Born Siddhartha Gautama, his teachings serve as the foundation of the Buddhist religion.

The name Buddha means "the enlightened one" or "one who is awakened." The precise dates and events of Buddha's life are still up for question, despite the consensus among experts that he did, in fact, exist.

Buddhism's three fundamental tenets:

-Dukkha: Suffering and anguish are a part of life. Buddhism is frequently characterized as pessimistic or negative.
-Anitya: Change is a constant in life. The concept of anitya, or "impermanence," denotes the cyclical nature of life as we know it.
-Anatma: The self is ever-evolving.
