With House Republicans in Chaos, Will a Democrat Win the Speaker Position?

Capitol Hill has been put on hold as the Republican Party can’t seem to get its house, and by default THE House, in order. A handful of Republican holdouts are continuing to refuse to vote for Rep. Kevin McCarthy for his bid to become Speaker of the House.
Yesterday we told you how McCarthy seemed to be the frontrunner for the role, with second place belonging to Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries. It turned out after three separate votes, McCarthy still couldn’t prevail. Now it appears Rep. McCarthy wants to take an adjournment vote so that we don’t just have to endure a series of votes that go nowhere.
The truth is the vote tallies only got progressively worse for Rep. McCarthy as they went on. And our concern remains, the longer this goes on – the more the holdouts dig their heels in – the longer the Left essentially has free run of Congress. We elect these people to work for us. Who is leading the Republicans while this circus continues? Right now it sounds like no one.
Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes further analysis of this stalemate in the race for Speaker of the House. We are also joined by ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell who offers his take on the situation. And just as the broadcast was ending, we learned that Rep. McCarthy lost a fourth vote. Clearly it’s time to take a different approach. House Republicans need to get to work.
