10 Mind Traps That Distort The Way You Think
Mind traps or thinking traps - known in the field of psychology as cognitive distortions - are irrational, distorted, unhealthy thinking styles. Although quite common, unhealthy thinking errors can be hard to recognize - especially if you don’t know what to look for. That’s because automatic thoughts are habitual.
If left unchecked, however, negatively biased errors in thinking can greatly influence the way you make decisions. Over time, these thinking errors can take a serious toll on your mental health - leading to increased stress, depression, and anxiety.
The good news is that negative automatic thought patterns can be changed through cognitive restructuring - a common process in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
