Doom 2: Back To Saturn X Episode 2 - Map 26: Angry Science (UV-Max) & Epilogue

Map 26 of Back To Saturn X Episode 2 is entitled "Beneath a Festering Moon" on the PC release, but was renamed to "Angry Science" after the song this map uses on the Unity port add-on. This is the final map of BTSX Episode 2, but it honestly feels like a breather for most of the map especially compared to some of the other later maps like the previous one. The only real trouble spots are in the secret area with the Revenants, Arachnotrons, and Mastermind, and the final battle in front of the exit portal (but that one can be easily mitigated with the Invulnerability sphere in the final secret). Relatively easy, but man is that atmosphere beautiful!

On the other side of the portal at the end of this level is the epilogue map, nameless in the original PC release, known as "???" in the Unity Add-On. You emerge from the portal into an eerie temple with purple walls with inverted crosses all over. You walk outside the temple onto the bridge where you see a plain white void with nothing but the temple towering over you and a message written on one of the stones on the bridge: "TO BE CONTINUED".

Overall, I will say I did enjoy Episode 1 more, but that's not bashing Episode 2 at all. Episode 2 is still a very worthy follow-up to the Back To Saturn X saga. I feel like the only real gripe I have with Episode 2 is that a few of the maps were just too long. Sure, a few of Episode 1's maps were pretty long as well (12 and 15 immediately come to mind), but none of them took over an hour to finish. Other than that, Episode 2 was still great. The challenge was definitely a step up from Episode 1 which was still pretty hard to begin with, but it still felt fair (well, except for the secret level but I feel like secret levels are supposed to be much harder than the main game so I can forgive that), and though I feel like the music wasn't quite as memorable as in episode 1, there were still some hits like "Mystproj", "Angry Science", "Vinefort", and a few others. While I'd give BTSX Episode 1 a perfect 10/10, I'd probably give episode 2 an 8/10. The Back To Saturn X saga will conclude in Episode 3: Instructions To The Rusty Time Machine, and I can't wait to play it when (or if) it releases.
