After Leviathan attacked the ship on its way to Baron, Cecil ends up all alone, washed ashore in front of the town of Mysidia, the site of the mission that made Cecil question his loyalty to his king. The town elder senses repentance in Cecil, so he sends him to Mt. Ordeals where he is to trade his dark sword for a light one and become a Paladin. However, Golbez and the first of his four Elemental Archfiends have other plans for Cecil...
