What are Biofuels and Where are They Going?
What are Biofuels and Where are They Going?
With increasing CO2 emissions around the globe, toughening environmental regulations, and reductions in costs, biofuels now, for the first time ever, are starting to look like a viable option to compete with traditional fuels.
If you've ever wondered anything about biofuels from 'What are they?' to 'How are they made?' to 'Where are they going?' we'll cover all of that and more in this video!
A quick overview of the video (and to get some keywords in the description to optimize my SEO): A biofuel is simply any fuel derived from biomass, or something that was alive, usually farming crops. Both biofuel and normal fuel produce emissions, mainly CO2, but also other greenhouse gases like hydrocarbons and NOx.
Probably the biggest and most obvious hurdle for the biofuel market is costs. Diesel fuel has been around for a little over 100 years, and in that time the production pipeline has been highly optimized and scaled for profitability, but the low volumes biofuel are produced in make it hard for them to compete on an even playing field. And wat’s worse than low margins, is the crazy high startup costs to build one of these factories.
We’re in a weird place with biofuel, similar to where renewable energy was a decade ago. Because production is so low compared to traditional diesel, biofuel production won’t be profitable for a while without government intervention and tax credits, especially because the upfront cost for opening these fuel plants can be 10’s or even hundreds of millions of dollars. But the hope is that, just like with renewable energies, that when the government subsidizes the initial growth, eventually they can reach profitability as they scale.

What is PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM? What does PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM mean?
A photovoltaic system, also solar PV power system, or PV system, is a power system designed to supply usable solar power by means of photovoltaics. It consists of an arrangement of several components, including solar panels to absorb and convert sunlight into electricity, a solar inverter to change the electric current from DC to AC, as well as mounting, cabling and other electrical accessories to set up a working system. It may also use a solar tracking system to improve the system's overall performance and include an integrated battery solution, as prices for storage devices are expected to decline. Strictly speaking, a solar array only encompasses the ensemble of solar panels, the visible part of the PV system, and does not include all the other hardware, often summarized as balance of system (BOS). Moreover, PV systems convert light directly into electricity and shouldn't be confused with other technologies, such as concentrated solar power or solar thermal, used for heating and cooling.
PV systems range from small, rooftop-mounted or building-integrated systems with capacities from a few to several tens of kilowatts, to large utility-scale power stations of hundreds of megawatts. Nowadays, most PV systems are grid-connected, while off-grid or stand-alone systems only account for a small portion of the market.
Operating silently and without any moving parts or environmental emissions, PV systems have developed from being niche market applications into a mature technology used for mainstream electricity generation. A rooftop system recoups the invested energy for its manufacturing and installation within 0.7 to 2 years and produces about 95 percent of net clean renewable energy over a 30-year service lifetime.
Due to the exponential growth of photovoltaics, prices for PV systems have rapidly declined in recent years. However, they vary by market and the size of the system. In 2014, prices for residential 5-kilowatt systems in the United States were around $3.29 per watt, while in the highly penetrated German market, prices for rooftop systems of up to 100 kW declined to €1.24 per watt. Nowadays, solar PV modules account for less than half of the system's overall cost, leaving the rest to the remaining BOS-components and to soft costs, which include customer acquisition, permitting, inspection and interconnection, installation labor and financing costs.

The Eye | Physiology | Biology
The human eye is a wonderful feat of evolution. We can see tiny specks and huge mountains. We can see in the dark and we can also see hundreds of shades of bright, vibrant colours. So how does the eye work? The eye contains special cells that receive the incoming light energy and convert it into electrical impulses. These electrical impulses are then relayed along the optic nerve to our brain. Find out more in this video!

Nuclear Fusion | Radioactivity
At the start of the 20th century scientists had a good estimate of how old the Earth was. At least several billion years of age. This led to the tricky question as to how the Sun not only generated heat and light, but how it had done this for so long!
Theories based on known science made no sense. It was impossible that the conventional chemical combustion of a fuel could be sustained for so long, and other ideas of gravitational shrinkage ran into similar time constraints.

Penicillin | Microorganisms
Penicillin is a type of antibiotic that can be used to treat bacterial infections. Really important - antibiotics can only be used to treat bacterial infections.
Penicillin was first discovered in 1928 by a scientist called Alexander Fleming. He noticed that bacteria he was trying to grow would not grow near a certain type of mould fungus. After lots of experimentation he discovered that the mould produced a substance that killed the bacteria. He called this substance penicillin and was able to purify it and use it to treat bacterial infections in people. The drug has gone on to save millions of lives.

HOW ELECTRICAL MOTOR WORKS?
In this video you will see how electrical motor works with a clear animation.
The basic idea of an electric motor is really simple: you put electricity into it at one end and an axle (metal rod) rotates at the other end giving you the power to drive a machine of some kind. How does this work in practice? Exactly how do your convert electricity into movement? To find the answer to that, we have to go back in time almost 200 years.
