For hunting and not competition, I've always know that flatter trajectory involve higher velocity with acceptable accuracy. Todays trend to higher Ballistic coefficient, longer, heavier bullets, is not necessarily better for distances under 400 yards.

Testing a 50 grain bullet in my 5.56 with a 1/7 barrel twist, 3,200 fps .r.p.m in a 1/7 twist barrel maybe a destabilizer compared to a 1/12 twist rate.

No, my rifle is not in the category of a Tactical outfit. I prefer the longer barrel and faster muzzle velocity for hunting at 100 to 500 yard range. My new MSR (Modern Sporting Rifle) in a AR-15 platform field test. AR/MSR varmint rifle, chambered in 5.56 or .223. My wife gave me a new scope for Christmas. Instead of saying 'You get what you pay for', We hunters never look a gift horse in the mouth. So we always say " You pay for what you get." Turns out this scope works quite well for my needs, as a hunter.
