If you’re interested in learning how to install pre-pasted wallpaper, you should take a few minutes to view this informative how-to video that ROMAN Products has uploaded for our customers. Although it's really not difficult to put up pre-pasted wallpaper, beginners can get into trouble if they're not properly prepared. The process, as outlined by our wallpaper installation video, is simple:
1.) Unroll your wallpaper on a flat surface.
2.) Measure the length you need and cut with scissors. Don't worry if it's a little too long—you can always trim it later.
3.) Grab your E-Z Hang spray and shake it prior to use.
4.) Spray E-Z Hang on the back of the wallpaper.
5.) Book the wallpaper according to manufacturer instructions. This is a useful skill that will enable you to easily carry the wallpaper from one spot to another. Booking involves carefully folding each end of the wallpaper over so that both edges meet in the middle. The wallpaper will not become permanently stuck to itself. Be sure not to create a crease when each side is folded.
6.) Let the wallpaper sit for 3-5 minutes.
7.) Now pick up the booked wallpaper in the center, where the ends meet, and carry it to the installation spot.
8.) Begin applying the wallpaper at the top of the wall and work your way down. As you begin hanging the wallpaper, permit the folded-over sides to detach and unfurl. Use a smoothing tool to remove bumps and ensure that the wallpaper adheres to the surface.
9.) At the bottom, use a razor to cut off any excess wallpaper.
10.) Wipe off any excess paste before it dries.
You will repeat this procedure for each strip of wallpaper. One big benefit of E-Z Hang is that it allows you to ‘float’ the wallpaper into position to ensure matching of designs. This is important for avoiding the awkward look of misaligned wallpaper strips.

How to Hang a Wallpaper Border | ROMAN Products
Border wallpaper offers a simple way to enhance the visual appeal of a room with just a modest amount of effort. As its name suggests, this type of wallpaper is intended to follow the borders of a wall—usually at the top, near the ceiling or just under the crown molding. Less commonly, it is hung along the bottom of the wall.
Border paper for walls typically displays an attractive design that provides a contrast with the other elements of the wall and the rest of the room. When it comes to trendy wallpaper borders, there’s certainly no shortage of options out there. Whether you’re looking for a modern wallpaper border or prefer a more antique look, it’s not hard to find a design that suits your fancy. It’s worth taking the time to explore a variety of wallpaper border ideas that can give your space—whether it’s a living room, bathroom, bedroom or the office—a dash of visual flair.
However, buying your border wallpaper is just one step in the process. Now you have to install it correctly. That can be a little tricky, especially if you’re doing it yourself. To aid our customers, ROMAN Products has made a brief video showing a simple DIY wallpaper border installation process that you can follow at home.
First, you need the right accessories. You can get high-quality wallpaper border paste at ROMAN Products. Our selection of adhesives can be found here: https://romandecoratingproducts.com/wallcovering-adhesives/.
A ROMAN wallpaper smoothing tool is helpful as well: https://romandecoratingproducts.com/product/roman-wallpaper-smoothing-tool/
If you have one available, be sure to have a 4-foot level on hand—it’s for a simple trick that we’ll explain in the video.
The installation of your wallpaper, as outlined in the video, goes like this:
1. Unroll a section of the border paper and spread it out so that the back faces up. A section about two feet long will do. You may wish to use a few towels or rags to hold the ends down as you perform the next step.
2. Using a roller, apply your ROMAN Products paste to the back of the wallpaper, making sure to spread it evenly across the surface.
3. Now we’re going to do what is called an “accordion fold,” otherwise known as “booking.” This involves gently folding over a section of wallpaper, paste to paste, without creating a crease. The purpose of this is to make the wallpaper more manageable. It’s much easier to manipulate folded wallpaper than an unrolled strip.
4. Unroll another section of the wallpaper and repeat steps #2 and #3 until you have pasted the entire strip you wish to install.
5. Now you can install the border wallpaper. You can do this by unpeeling one section at a time and applying it to the wall, starting in the corner. You will hold the bulk of the wallpaper in one hand while putting the unrolled section in place with the other hand.
6. Flatten out the just-installed section with your smoothing tool.
- Tip #1a: If you have drywall, you can use a pushpin to temporarily hold the rest of the wallpaper in place while you use the smoothing tool. The hole created by the pushpin will likely be too small to be noticeable, as the wallpaper isn’t installed anywhere near eye level.
- Tip #1b: Alternatively, you can use your 4-foot level to hold the unrolled wallpaper in place. Make sure you put a rag on the end of it to ensure that the level doesn’t cause harm to the wallpaper.
7. Keep installing the wallpaper border one section at a time until you are done.

How Much Wallpaper Do I Need? - ROMAN Products
You might be asking yourself: How much wallpaper do I need? That’s a fair question because your budget will depend on it. Once you’ve determined how much wallpaper you need, you can purchase the right amount of wallpaper primer, vinyl wallpaper glue, and other necessary supplies.
In today’s video tutorial, we’ll get you started on one of the basics for hanging wallpaper, which is determining how much wallpaper you’ll need for your project.

HOW TO MEASURE FOR WALLPAPER
You’ve selected the ideal wallcovering for your room, and now it’s time to measure that space to figure out exactly how much wallpaper the project will take. To not worry too much about making a mistake, it’s a good rule of thumb to always have a little extra. To measure for wallpaper, you will need to determine the total square footage of the wall surface..
Supplies you may need include:
- Pen
- Paper
- Measuring tape
- Calculator
For projects where you will be installing wallpaper on more than one wall, it may be helpful to draw a general picture of what the room looks like from an aerial view. In most cases, this is a simple box or rectangle. Then, use the measuring tape to measure how wide each wall is. For example, say a rectangular room has two walls 11 feet wide and two walls 13 feet wide. Then, add these numbers up like so:
11+13+11+13 = 48
This means that your room is 48 linear feet.
Next, measure the maximum ceiling height of the room. For this example, we will say the ceilings are 8 feet tall. To calculate the total square feet of the room, multiply the room’s linear feet by the ceiling height. For example:
48 x 8 = 384 square feet
Therefore, you will need to make sure you have at least 384 square feet of wallcovering. To ensure you have enough wallcovering for the project, you don’t want to subtract any square footage for things like windows and doors. However, unless you choose a solid or random pattern wallcovering, then you will need to take a few extra steps with your measurements to account for the pattern repeat.
MEASURING & FIGURING FOR PATTERN REPEATS
When you hang your first wallpaper strip and try to hang the second, you’ll notice you may need to match up the pattern elements. Those elements are known as pattern repeats, and they’ll help you determine the amount of wallpaper you’ll need.
You can have three different types of pattern repeats:
- Small Pattern Repeat: Uses tighter, smaller pattern repeats.
- Large Pattern Repeat: Uses looser, less frequent repeats.
Random Pattern Repeat: Also known as no repeat or no match, there’s no pattern to match up along the seam.
To determine which type of pattern repeat your wallpaper has, sometimes you only need to check the back of the wallpaper. You may also find this information on the manufacturer label of the wallpaper roll.
Depending on the pattern repeat you choose, you’ll need to do a bit more math to get the right amount of wallpaper for your room.
If you’re using a no repeat wallcovering, then divide the total square footage of the room by 25. Then, round up the number you get to determine how many rolls of wallpaper you will need. For example:
384 ÷ 25 = 15.36
Therefore, you will need 16 rolls or 8 double rolls of wallpaper.
However, if you do have a pattern repeat to consider, then divide the total square footage of the room by that number. For example, the manufacturer label may say the pattern repeat is 20 inches. Therefore, continuing with our example:
384 ÷ 20 = 19.2
So, you will need 20 rolls or 10 double rolls of wallcovering. If your wallcovering manufacturer doesn’t note the repeat, then you can estimate whether it uses a small repeat or a large repeat.
If you have a small repeat, divide the square footage by 22 and larger divide by 18. Continuing with our example, you can find the number of rolls you will need:
Small repeat:
384 ÷ 22 = 17.45
Therefore, with a small repeat, you will need 18 rolls of wallpaper or 9 double rolls.
Large repeat:
384 ÷ 18 = 21.33
Therefore, you will need 22 rolls or 11 double rolls of wallcovering for a large repeat.
To help you with this process, we’ve created a wallpaper calculator. You just need to enter the information you already have, like pattern repeat and square footage - https://romandecoratingproducts.com/wallpaper-calculator/

How to Hang Wallpaper | ROMAN Products
You have your brand-new wallpaper and tools ready to start the process, but you don't know how to do it yourself. Don't worry.
At ROMAN Products, we understand that the process of hanging wallpaper can be challenging, especially if you've never done it before.
So, in today's YouTube video tutorial, we'll give you all the information you need on how to hang wallpaper without professional help. Our experts have crafted this guide to showcase all of the necessary steps you'll need to follow.
Here’s how to hang wallpaper with paste:
The first step is to draw a line down the wall using a pencil and a level. That line will serve as the starting point for hanging the wallpaper. However, be careful not to make the line too heavy as it might be seen through lighted-colored wallpapers.
Once you've finished drawing the line, you need to put the paper aside to be hung. Remember that before you begin hanging the wallpaper, you need to ensure you have removed all obstructions from the wall. These include portraits, hanging plants, and other devices.
Now you need to unfurl the paper and spread it on the wall. Slide it down the wall, ensuring it matches the surface dimensions. If you have doubts, use the marking line to guide you through this step. This process must be done slowly as the paper can break or fall if it is not treated gently.
It is always better to work from the ceiling down as it is easier. As you go down, you'll need to smooth the paper while you position it against the wall.
Ensure the excess paste is squeezed out while you smooth the paper. It will prevent bulkiness and lumps from forming on the surface. You'll want the paper to look even and as smooth as possible.
Once you've adhered the wallpaper to the wall, you can start removing the excess paper with a trim guide and a snap blade knife. Do it carefully, without cutting parts of the paper already adhered to the wall.
Remove any excess paste from the walls with a damp sponge and warm water. Do not get scared if the paste takes some time to be removed as it is designed to remain adhered to the wall for long periods. You can also use a gentle detergent to make the process easier and faster.
Tip: Always hang wallpaper with clean hands, or the grease and dirt might get stuck to the paste. If that happens, it will be a lot more difficult to remove.
We hope this guide on how to hang wallpaper with paste was useful! At ROMAN Products, we are constantly working to help our customers have the best experience with our products. If you have any questions or doubts, do not hesitate to leave a comment, and we'll answer as soon as possible!
