06:35 2. Li Shangfu: War with the US would be an unbearable disaster, says China's defense minister
09:01 3. ByteDance denies tracking users' personal data for China - Global Times

https://assuredinformation.blogspot.com/2023/07/china-in-focus-cultural-regulation.html
A recent joke by a Chinese stand-up comedian, seen as mocking the military, has triggered a crackdown on the country's burgeoning comedy and music scenes. The stringent controls come as the live entertainment industry rebounds from years of Covid restrictions. Despite the careful monitoring of cultural events by the Communist Party, the underground music scene in Beijing has remained vibrant and innovative. However, this independent spirit has come under threat as the government seeks to impose stricter control.
China's Defense Minister, General Li Shangfu, has stated that war between China and the U.S. would be a global disaster in his first major address since assuming his position. Speaking at a security summit, General Li accused some countries of escalating an arms race in Asia but also affirmed that the world is large enough for both China and the U.S., urging the two superpowers to seek common ground.
ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, has vehemently opposed allegations accusing it of assisting the Chinese mainland government in tracking radical protesters in Hong Kong. The allegations stem from a court filing by Yintao Roger Yu, ByteDance's former head of engineering in the U.S., who claimed that a special committee from the Chinese government was installed at ByteDance's Beijing offices to monitor all data, including U.S. users' information.
China has successfully launched a Long March rocket carrying 41 satellites from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre, setting a national record for the number of satellites launched in one operation. These satellites have joined the Jilin-1 satellite constellation, the world's largest satellite for high-resolution Earth observations.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken asserts that the primary aim of American policy toward China is to achieve peaceful coexistence. In a discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations, Blinken acknowledged the long-term competition between the two nations but emphasized that neither country is going away, thus necessitating peaceful coexistence as the foundation.

In Indiana's Monroe County, an anti-pornography app, Covenant Eyes, has led to a man being jailed and his family under surveillance. The man is charged with possessing child sexual abuse material, a claim he pleads not guilty to. Covenant Eyes monitors all user activities on their devices, sending the data to probation officers. Courts in at least five U.S. states have used Covenant Eyes for surveillance, despite its terms prohibiting such use.
Brandon Jackson experienced an unexpected lockout from his Amazon account, disrupting his smart home devices. The lockout occurred after an Amazon delivery driver reported receiving racist remarks from Jackson's doorbell, a misunderstanding as his doorbell issued an automated response that the driver misinterpreted. Jackson, who had video evidence showing no such comments were made, was locked out of his account for nearly a week.
The Edge browser from Microsoft has rolled out a feature, 'Enhance images in Microsoft Edge,' that improves low-resolution images by upscaling them, thus increasing sharpness, lighting, and contrast. However, this feature, enabled by default, sends images back to Microsoft for processing, sparking privacy concerns.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has issued a cybersecurity advisory (CSA) to warn organizations about a new ransomware variant called CL0P. The ransomware is known to target organizations in the healthcare, manufacturing, and government sectors.
Matt Walsh, the host at the Daily Wire, has had his YouTube channel demonetized due to repeated violations of YouTube Partner Program policies. The decision responded to his aggressive campaign against transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney. According to estimates, this could cost Walsh up to $1.6 million annually.
Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos, has begun her 11-year prison sentence at a minimum-security facility in Bryan, Texas. The sentence comes after Holmes was convicted of four felony counts of fraud and conspiracy relating to her tenure at Theranos. The startup she founded at 19 was claimed to revolutionize healthcare with a blood-testing device, drawing nearly $1 billion in investments and a powerful board of directors. However, Theranos was revealed to be a hoax; its technology was flawed.

Galatians 5: The Call to Freedom and Love
Delve into the Book of Galatians, specifically Chapter 5, as we discuss the calling to freedom and love. This chapter offers a compelling look at the early Christians' struggles, the nature of spiritual freedom, and the supreme command to love one's neighbor as oneself. This exploration will challenge us to consider our spiritual paths and how we interact with others in our faith community and beyond.
You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion is not from him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed. I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

Key West and The Miraculous Journey of Florida's Oversea Highway
Experience a fascinating journey along Florida's Overseas Highway. A feat of engineering and testament to human tenacity, the Highway, also known as Highway 1, spans 113 miles, linking Miami to Key West through a chain of islands dotting the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
This marvel's roots trace back to Henry Morrison Flagler's ambitious vision. Co-founder of Standard Oil, Flagler saw potential in Florida. His bold idea of the Over-Sea Railroad, connecting mainland Florida to Key West, laid the foundations of the modern Overseas Highway. Amidst enormous challenges, the Railroad was completed in 1912, only to be devastated by a powerful hurricane in 1935.
Rising from the ashes, the defunct Railroad was transformed into the modern Overseas Highway, incorporating old railway bridges like the iconic Seven Mile Bridge at Pigeon Key. This marked a significant turning point in the history of the Florida Keys.
The journey along the Overseas Highway introduces Key Largo, the first Key, home to the only living coral reef in the continental U.S., followed by Islamorada, renowned for its sport fishing and sandy beaches. The Highway continues through Marathon and the historic Pigeon Key, featuring the legacy of the old Railroad.
The journey culminates at Key West, a vibrant history, culture, and natural beauty city. The impact of Flagler's Over-Sea Railroad and the Overseas Highway on the development and tourism in the Florida Keys has been transformative. Today, millions of people are lured by the charm of these tropical islands, linked by the extraordinary Overseas Highway.

Stuxnet the First Digital Weapon
Stuxnet, the first digital weapon, was a groundbreaking computer worm that targeted Iran's nuclear program. Developed through a collaboration between the United States and Israel, Stuxnet aimed to disrupt Iran's uranium enrichment activities by targeting centrifuges' control systems.
The worm exploited vulnerabilities in the SCADA systems, which control and monitor industrial processes. It spread through infected USB drives and utilized a combination of zero-day exploits and rootkit functionality to infect computers and remain undetected. Stuxnet's self-replication capabilities allowed it to spread across networks and infect new machines.
Once inside the targeted systems, Stuxnet covertly manipulated the centrifuge speeds, causing physical damage and malfunctions. Its purpose was to sabotage Iran's nuclear program without direct military intervention. Stuxnet demonstrated the potential of cyber weapons to impact physical infrastructure and highlighted the vulnerabilities of critical systems to cyberattacks.
The discovery of Stuxnet in 2010 raised awareness about the significant impact of cyber warfare. It served as a wake-up call for governments and organizations worldwide, highlighting the need for improved cybersecurity and defensive measures. Stuxnet ushered in a new era of state-sponsored cyber operations, with nations investing in developing cyber weapons and offensive capabilities.
The Stuxnet incident also raised concerns about cyber weapon proliferation and potential misuse. Its success demonstrated the potential for cyberattacks to cause physical damage and disrupt critical infrastructure, extending the scope of warfare beyond traditional military means.
Today, Stuxnet remains a significant case study in cyber warfare. It serves as a reminder of the evolving threats in the digital age and the importance of robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard critical systems from cyberattacks.

Understanding Iranian Offensive Cyberattack Capabilities: Threat Evolution and Cyber Organization
Iran's offensive cyberattack capabilities have evolved, transitioning from internal information control to more aggressive attacks on foreign targets. The regime has been investing resources in developing its own cybersecurity software and internet architecture to protect and insulate its networks while enhancing its technological cyber expertise as a form of asymmetric warfare against the superior conventional US military.
Iran has a history of retaliatory cyberattacks against the United States, with the 2010 Stuxnet worm being a notable example. Stuxnet infiltrated Iran's nuclear centrifuge control computers, causing physical damage and disrupting operations. It was reported to be a joint effort between the US and Israel. Following the discovery of Stuxnet, cyberattacks originating from Iran against US assets increased in severity and duration.
The Iranian cyber organization comprises various government entities and military forces. These include the Iran Cyber Police, the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), and the Supreme Council of Cyberspace.

Richard Clarke Reveals the Secrets of the Stuxnet Attack: Cyberwarfare and Espionage Unveiled
Richard Clarke, a former counterterrorism czar, warns about the ongoing cyberwars and the lack of defense against cyberattacks. He discusses the real-life cyber worm, Stuxnet, designed to attack nuclear centrifuges but escaped and spread globally. The origin of Stuxnet remains a mystery, and Clarke claims to know the answer. He emphasizes the vulnerability of the United States to cyberattacks and the potential catastrophic consequences. Clarke compares the cyberespionage conducted by the U.S. government to that of China, stating that the U.S. collects information from foreign governments but doesn't engage in commercial espionage. He reveals the story of Stuxnet, which infiltrated Iran's nuclear facility and disrupted its uranium enrichment process. The prime suspect behind Stuxnet is Israel, known for unconventional defense tactics. However, the presence of a signature referencing "Esther" raises questions about its authenticity. Clarke acknowledges the difficulty of attributing cyberattacks definitively.
