From the CD, "Times Like These". The amount of hate and division in the world today can seem overwhelming. However, there is a way to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Each of us can make this world a better place. The choice is up to me and you.

Wisdom
From the CD, "Times Like These". Wisdom is something we accumulate over our lifetime. It can come from a multitude of sources. Some sources will add to our wisdom while other sources will dilute it. The essence of who we are can be found in our wisdom or our lack of it.

Wade in the Water
Special music in Tubingen, Germany. It is an
African American spiritual from the late 1800's. We were joined by a percussion player from Ethiopia, a pianist from South Africa, and a bass player from Germany. We only had time for one rehearsal before the morning worship

Time Like These
From the CD, "Times Like These". We are not living in the world of Andy, Barny, and Aunt Bee in Mayberry. We are not in the world of Ward and June Cleaver. The breakthroughs in communication and all the 24 hours news has brought a frantic nature to our everyday life. Social media can destroy lives with a few texts or tweets. People seldom know their neighbors anymore. It is time for each of us to stop and contemplate who we really are and who we need to be. We can live well in these times or we can suffer in them. Ask yourself, “How will I choose to live in times like these?”

Hope
From the CD, "Times Like These".
Am I simply living my life for the next breath, the next morning, the next season or year? Do I hope for something more than the repetition that I face? What does it mean to hope? Hope is just a wish or it can be a powerful reality. Is there more to life than the daily routine we live through. Can we know there is more or is it simply a wish? Could it be that the overwhelming intricate nature of creation itself has something to tell us?

Words Can Change the World
A selection from the CD, "Times Like These."
Our words can bring life and healing or hate, suffering, and division. There is probably no greater weapon than the tongue. The good news is that there is also no greater source of love than our words. We can change the world for good or for bad. We make the choice with our words.

Charge to the Front
This song was recorded in 1978 at Beaverwood Studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
This song was partly about an old friend named George. He and Mackie-Jo taught me to ride barebacks at Jerry and Peggy King’s ranch. You had to focus on charging to the front with your spurs to keep your balance.
I was at a rodeo with George and he was riding bulls. He had dislocated his shoulder so many times that if he lifted it too fast, it just came out of the socket. At this rodeo, it popped out before his ride. His friends helped pop it back in and strap it tight to his side so he could get back on the bull waiting for him. There is a toughness about cowboys, especially bull riders that most people could never achieve. I hope you enjoy the song. It never seems to grow old if you have a love for a great way of life.
The saddleback artwork was done by Josey Butler of Streakin’ B Art. She is an incredible western artist. Check out her work at www.streakinbart.com. You will be amazed!

You Can't Take It With You
A selection from the CD, "Times Like These."
Sometimes we forget that this life is temporary. We are just passing through the world. All the toys we spend our life chasing will be left behind. Making life count is where true peace and happiness are discovered. Why not leave this world a better place because we were here. After all, nothing leaves this world with you.

Kinder World
This is a true story about growing up in a very different time. All the events are true stories from my childhood growing up in rural Missouri. It was a time when violence was a black eye. Parents were not over-protective. Listen to the lyrics and follow the adventures. I am sure many of you will relate to your growing up.
This is just myself layering tacks in my music room at home.

My Brother's Keeper
A selection from the CD, "Times Like These".
In this world where hate and division are growing at an alarming rate, we need to step back and realize we all need each other. We can destroy a life with a few minutes on social media. We need to grasp the concept of being “my brother’s keeper”. If we would care about others deeply, this world would be a far better place. It has to begin within each of us.
