Parrot with discriminating tastes refuses sweet potato
Einstein loves to eat all types of fresh vegetables and fruit. Parrots should have an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruit in their diet. Einstein is perched and chattering away about all the types of foods he loves. Corn, grapes, and especially a treat! He is actually saying the exact same things his owner tells him when offering food. Hilariously when he said, "sweet potato" he protested, shaking his head and vocalizing in an objectionable manner. His behavior is much like a child refusing to eat sweet potatoes! Sweet potatoes are actually one of his favorite foods! Einstein is certainly a silly parrot and you never know what he is going to say.

Spoiled Parrot Gets Pampered With Deluxe Spa Treatment
Who doesn't like to indulge in a little pampering from time to time? Einstein the parrot get treated to a warm shower about once or twice a week. Just like our wild birds who bathe in puddles and birth baths, our captive parrots need regular showers to keep clean, feel comfortable, and maintain good health.
The desire to bathe is instinctive and some parrots will even bathe in their water bowls. Bathing also promotes preening, an activity where the bird will clean it's feathers with natural powder down that they produce and nibble the feather sheaths as new feathers grow in. Einstein also enjoys a nice massage given by his owner. A little extra <a href="https://rumble.com/v4we4h-harley-the-cockatoo-enjoys-a-pampered-afternoon-at-home.html" target="_blank">pampering</a> while he preens his nice clean feathers. Einstein The Talking Parrot Is Anxious To Visit The Veterinarian
Let's face it, medical exams are annoying! You are poked, prodded and sometimes stuck with needles! The indignities continue on and on! Yet, these visits are necessary to maintain our pets health. Parrots must also have routine veterinary visits at least once a year. These visits are stressful on both the bird and its owners. The bird has to be restrained in order to be examined. That is not easy to do with a parrot who has a beak that could do serious damage to human flesh when it feels threatened.
Usually, the parrot is placed in a towel to be restrained for the entire exam. This is both uncomfortable for the bird and the doctor is hindered by the bulk of the towel. Dr. Osofsky ABVP is a board certified Avian <a href="https://rumble.com/v3njpv-dreamy-veterinarian-sings-to-nervous-puppy-before-surgery.html" target="_blank">veterinarian</a>. To gain this certification it requires additional training above and beyond what is required to practice veterinary medicine. Dr. Osolfsky will only use a towel to get control of the bird and then quickly takes it away. This makes for a much experience. The parrot must be held by the neck with their feet supported. The vet assistant in this video is doing an excellent job! It looks like the parrot is being strangled. Don't worry, birds are chest breathers. If held around the chest, the bird would suffocate. Einstein passed his medical exam with "flying" colors! He also got a tasty treat for being such a good boy!

Sound Of Parrot's Beak Provides Unique ASMR Experience
Have you ever heard a sound that created a delightful, tingly sensation in your scalp? Then it trickles down your head to your neck and shoulders, leaving a marvelous relaxation feeling in its wake. Then you have experienced ASMR or autonomous sensory meridian response. Before it was known as autonomous sensory meridian response, there were some pretty creative names for the sensation. Some called it "brain massage," "head tingle," or even "brain orgasm." There are many triggers to this sensory experience. Whispering is the most common, but others includes the sound of someone rummaging fingers through a box of beads, crinkly paper or plastic, tapping on a keyboard, tapping finger nails on glass, or running fingers over the bristles of a comb or hair brush. To some people the sound of a parrot grinding it's beak is a trigger for ASMR. The sound may be creepy to some, but the rhythmic sound is found to be very relaxing to others. It is normal for parrots to make this sound before they go to sleep. It shows the parrot is very relaxed and contented. It's a sign of a very happy parrot! There are many ASMR triggers. <a href="https://rumble.com/v4v5uv-top-5-facts-about-asmr.html" target="_blank">ASMR</a> is not to be confused with being sexual. There is no arousing element to the experience. Instead it is deeply relaxing, much like meditation.

Clever parrot has very intriguing conversation
Einstein loves to have conversations with himself. Although his musings aren't profound, they are very entertaining! This particular day he was wandering on the bathroom counter and asked the question, "What colors"? He replied, "orange chicken". Then he commanded, "come here, this way", "Pffffff! raspberry"! Then with a little shake of the head he says, "sweet potato" As he walks off camera you can still see him in the mirror as he kisses the towel and says, "so sweet", stinker, get crazy"! His encore is a rendition of the Elvis Presley song, "Shake, rattle, and roll!" Looks like Einstein has a few items on his to do list. Eating some more, going to see Jeff, and going outside to name a few. "Where’s the money?" is his last question. That is a question we all ask ourselves! The money must be in the mirror playing peek-a-boo with you!

Parrot Makes Menu Requests While Imitating Sound Of Metal Utensils
<a href="https://rumble.com/v4nuqd-parrot-imitates-the-easter-bunny-for-easter.html" target="_blank">Einstein</a> supervises dinner preparations from his perch in his cage. He makes menu requests and exclaims "Here some broccoli dinner"! He certainly loves his sweet potatoes and corn, but is told sweet potatoes will not be on his plate. However, he does warn you that it has to cool. Making lip smacking sounds with his beak and imitating the sound of metal utensils being banged on the side of a pot, he is certainly ready to eat! Here ya go Einstein! Enjoy your dinner!

Parrot invents unique word for very loud insect
Cicadas are large insects that emerge from the ground in the summer as larva. They shed their skin on trees and buildings as they enter their adult stage and get ready to mate. Male cicadas produce very loud calls for the purpose of finding a female. The sound they make can be damaging to the human ear if the cicada made the sound just outside the human ear. It is often difficult to tell precisely where a cicada song is coming from. In late afternoon the sound of the cicadas are very loud and Einstein heard them singing one day. Einstein's owner would say, "Cicada" whenever she heard them while sitting with Einstein in the screen porch. Einstein has never duplicated the sound, (Thank goodness!) but he was interested in learning the word and invented his own version of it.

Daredevil parrot slides down shower door like firefighter
Einstein could fly to get down from the top of the shower. However, he prefers to slide down like a fireman sliding down a fire pole! Einstein certainly comes up with silly ways of doing things! By the way, he doesn't slide back up. That was some fun reverse video editing! The slide whistle is also an added sound effect. He has been doing this maneuver for years and does it often. He also manages to crawl back up too! Using his beak as a "third foot" he pulls his way to the top. I'd like to see how many humans can do this. As he concludes, he waves as if taking a bow for his awesome performance. Bravo, Einstein!

Parrot And Owner Share Incredibly Trusting Relationship
Einstein the talking parrot enjoys spending time with his owner. Perched on his shoulder while at the computer, Jeff gives Einstein head scratches and whispers to Einstein. They share cuddles and secrets as Jeff whispers sweet nothings to Einstein. Einstein loves this attention and reciprocates the affection by preening Jeff's eye lashes and nibbling his nose. Einstein delicately nibbles the fine hair, but sometimes his nibbles are too hard and Jeff has to tell Einstein to be gentle.
The mutual trust between them is incredible. This level of trust does not just happen with parrots. People must learn how to earn a parrots trust. Parrots must be socialized properly and the care giver must be gentle and kind to the parrot. Sometimes it takes years to earn this level of trust with a parrot. Einstein will soon be 21 years old and has been raised without fear, force or aggression. Einstein although raised domestically is still a wild bird. Einstein could easily bite Jeff and cause a horrible wound. While Einstein nibbles, Jeff is constantly monitoring Einsteins body language, as parrots will display various signs of aggression before they bite. It is very obvious that Einstein is enjoying this so much that no harm will come to Jeff.

Einstein the talking parrot destroys owner's slippers
The Master of Footware Ventilation! Or, should I say The Master Blaster of Footware Disaster? When it's Einstein v. shoes, the shoes are always gonna go down in "defeet"! Marcia’s bedroom slippers had just been wash and were set out to dry. Einstein found his way to the laundry room and flew on top of the dryer and decided they needed s good chew. Parrots are so mischievous! Anything laying around is fair game for their beak!

Sneaky parrot steals silicone steamer
Einstein the parrot loves to play and perch on his kitchen drawer. It is a place in the kitchen were his owners have made parrot safe he'll play there for hours and chew up his toys. This is a natural thing all parrots enjoy. This particular day, his owner had left a silicone vegetable steamer in the dish rack. It wasn't long before Einstein investigated it and decided what a nice chew it would be! He throws it down into the drawer and promptly hides inside the cabinet. He pulls the treasured steamer in with him and begins to chew! After about 45 minutes Einsteins owner comes into the kitchen to discover what Einstein had done! Einstein acts as if he is in trouble as his owner asks, "Einstein! What are you doing?" Einstein crawls out of the cabinet with a guilty look on his face. No worries! Einstein's not in trouble at all! His owner buys these just for him at a local department store and on eBay! You can see remnants of a previous steamer he chewed and these will keep him entertained and busy for hours. Parrots need this kind of activity and it's the job of the owner to do whatever it takes to find enrichment activities like this.

Weight Lifting Parrot Shows Off Impressive Muscle Strength
People don't realize how strong a bird can be. The beak of parrot has an estimated bite strength of 500 to 700 pounds per share inch. Ouch! What about muscle strength? While there is very little information on this subject, they naturally would have to have a great deal of straight in their wings and breast for flight. Einstein the African grey parrot demonstrates the power and muscle strength in his neck as he lifts a very heavy ceramic bowl filled with a some water.
Einstein weighs 465 grams, the bowl with water weighs 2.3 kg. The bowl is 5 times his weight and Einstein is <a href="https://rumble.com/v36je3-camel-lifting-competition-for-camels.html" target="_blank">able to lift</a> it slightly off the counter! Very impressive! He is very capable of pushing it off the counter, however his owner values the bowl too much to have it crash to the floor! It must have bee hard work because he can't resist dipping his beak into the water to cool off! Then he gives a victory wave to all of his fans as any great weightlifter would do after a competition. Great job Einstein!

Everyone looks forward to the arrival of the Easter Bunny! Every spring, children gather together with their empty Easter baskets, eager to fill them up with brightly dyed eggs and yummy candy! Einstein says, "We're walkin'", but I bet the children are running to find their Easter treasure! He greets everyone with a friendly "Hi!", and then asks, "Come see me." Looks like he also noticed a squirrel. "Go see squirrel," he says, "Look at the squirrel!" Then he suggests playing a game of "Peek-a-boo!". Einstein, you're such a wonderful Easter Bunny!

This parrot thinks he's a cuckoo bird!
Cuckoo clocks are a favorite souvenir of travelers to Germany. Einstein's bird sitter traveled to Germany many times and has a large collection. When Einstein come to visit she turns them all off so all the various sounds don't disturb Einstein during the day and night. On one of Einstein's visits, she forgot to turn the kitchen clock off. Einstein had listened to the clock the entire first day. She realized it was on when she went to bed that night and came back into the kitchen to turn it off for the night. The next morning the bird sitter heard Einstein imitating the "cuckoo"! Obviously he loved the sound! She continued to run the clock only during the day so it wouldn't disturb Einstein sleep. When Einstein returned home he proudly showed off his new talent of being a cuckoo bird! His timing was off as he didn't chime on the hour. Instead, he chimed when ever he wanted!

Silly Parrot Finds Potential Love Interest In Ordinary Dinner Spoon
It's spring and love is in the air! Einstein the parrot is no exception. Einstein has found a spoon on the kitchen counter and has decided to get amorous with it. With a cute little wave he makes his introduction. Then he tries to stand on the spoon, which is typical of the male bird standing on the female. The spoon isn't very sturdy so he decides to just tap it on the counter. Einstein is regurgitating little amounts of food. The male <a href="https://rumble.com/v4idl5-parrot-enjoys-an-effortless-and-inventive-way-to-fly.html" target="_blank">parrot</a> will feed the female during the mating session. The posture he is displaying is typical as well. The male parrot will drape his wings completely over the female. At one point, Einstein looks as if he is no longer interested, and walks away. However, he returns and continues his courtship, the spoon is just too beautiful! In the end, he pushes the spoon off the counter and waves good-bye. Parting is such sweet sorrow!
This behavior is temporary and sometimes parrots become very aggressive during this time of year. For this reason it is important not to reinforce this kind of behavior and remove any toys or objects that the parrot might take a liking to. Einstein is a 20 year old male parrot and has no mate. One might think that is sad, but in reality it is a positive thing that his owners has chosen not to mate him. Parrots live a very long time. Fifty years is the average lifespan. Hence, there are far too many parrots in captivity and parrot rescue organizations are very overcrowded with parrots that need forever homes. Most parrots are abandoned or abused from neglect after just 2 years. People do not realize the commitment and the training that is involved to live with a parrot. In addition, it is more difficult to breed a parrot. It is not like breeding dogs or cats. The two parrots have to like one another and not attack the other. Then, the pair must be left alone to gain each others trust and form a bond. This can be a long process and there can't be very much human interaction. If a bond is formed, then a nest box is provided. (For a parrot like Einstein who has a strong attachment with his owner he might never bond with another parrot.) If you are considering parrot ownership, please adopt. There are many wonderful, older parrots in need of homes.

Nosy Parrot Eavesdrops On Owner's Phone Call
Jeff, Einstein's owner was in the other room talking on the phone and Einstein was listening intently. Einstein makes a couple of vocalizations as if imitating what he is hearing. He says, 'Yeah, then some gibberish which he often does because he can't imitate every word that is being said. Instead, he will imitate our speech patterns rather than our actual speech. He can imitate the sound of a telephone ringing, with perfect pitch and says 'no and bye-bye' as if he was ending the conversation. Then after another telephone ring he says 'hello' as if he is answering the phone. More 'conversation' follows along with a request for lunch. Finally, he signs off with a finial bye-bye and a another electronic sound. Next time a telemarketer calls, Einstein should answer the phone!

Lucky parrot is in the St. Patrick's Day spirit
Einstein the parrot isn't Irish, but like most of us he'll join in on the fun and revelry of St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Einstein has been practicing his colors just for the occasion! Green is the word of the day. Asking, "What's colors?", he replies with "green". When his owner asked, "What's a chicken", Einstein replied, "green". Really? Maybe there is a green chicken at the end of the rainbow. He imitates the sound of water and does a birdie imitation before announcing that there is a green chicken! Apparently green is a very sweet color too! One thing is for sure, Einstein is a very lucky parrot! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Romantic parrot loves himself and others
We might all be guilty of a little self praise from time to time, but Einstein the parrot will tell you how much he loves himself! "I love da bird!" is what Einstein will often say when expressing his heart. He didn't come up with this saying on his own. This is what his owners often tell him. It's just so cute when he says it! He will also confess his love for others by saying, "I love you!" He then complements himself with, "So pretty bird!" Now that he is in an amorous mood, it's only natural that he'll say, "Let's go Cuddle". Parting is such sweet sorrow when he says, "See you later" waves a farewell good-bye and asks for a final kiss! Until we meet again sweet Einstein!

Excited Parrot Enjoys An Inventive New Way Of Flying
Einstein loves this piece of trim he took off of the dishwasher. One day he perched on it while his owner was picking it up off the floor. She walked around with him perched on it and discovered he really enjoyed riding on it! So she started spinning around the kitchen giving him a merry-go-round ride experience. He was absolutely enamored by this effortless way to "fly"! Just like a child, he didn't want to get off of the ride. So around he went again! If done for very long, the owner would get dizzy, so she decided it was enough fun for the day and in protest Einstein slapped the plastic part on the counter a few times!

Generous Parrot Offers Owner Various Snacks
Einstein the African Grey parrot loves to snack on apples. Perched on top of the shower Einstein offers a piece of imaginary apple. He hilariously makes smacking noises as if he's eating and he also sounds like he's talking with his mouth full! Popcorn is another favorite snack. As long as it is air popped and unsalted popcorn, it makes a delicious treat for parrots. Einstein announces popcorn, 'Come and eat'! Watch as he makes a gesture with his foot as if he is actually eating an imaginary piece of popcorn. Enjoy your tasty treat Einstein!

Apologetic parrot says "I'm sorry" before flying away
Einstein's wings were clipped as a young parrot. It doesn't hurt them and the wing feathers do grow back. However, it does limit their flying ability and they can only fly downward and land safely. We let Einstein's feathers grow out and overtime he became a very good flyer. We also wanted to teach Einstein to fly on command. On this particular occasion we were trying to get Einstein to only fly down. He was really anxious to fly and at one point even apologized before he took off!

'Early Bird' Parrot Makes Hilarious Demands For Breakfast
You often hear the expression, "Early bird gets the worm". When you live with a parrot, that saying takes on a whole different meaning! This particular morning Einstein wakes up with an appetite, he is also very talkative. Requesting grapes and cantaloupe as his owner tries to get coffee made is like being in a diner placing an order. He watches every move his owner makes. Finally the coffee is ready and Einstein imitates the sound of it being poured and the slurping sounds as his owner takes a sip. (Please, never feed your parrot coffee. It is toxic.) All in all it is a good morning when your parrot tells you, "You're a good parrot sweetie!"

Parrot Tries To Get Owner's Affection For Valentine's Day
Einstein the parrot is very loved, however it seems he might have had a lovers quarrel with his owner. He vocalizes "I love you", but gets no reciprocal reply. Maybe the offer of a tasty nut will mend the riff. "I'm sorry", a heartfelt apology along with an invitation to "go cuddle" might do the trick. Who could resist all these offers of affection! Doing a popcorn imitation, may mean watching a romantic movie and nibbling on popcorn is in order. Another "<a href="https://rumble.com/v49l09-8-week-old-newborn-actually-says-i-love-you.html" target="_blank">I love you</a>" and his owner validated their relationship! Time to serenade with a little tune and a "God bless you" for good measure! Who is "Red butt chicken"? Is this someone else competing for Einstein affection? No, it's just a silly little "pet" name his owners gave him because he has a red tail and he makes chicken noises. OK, Einstein! See ya later!
