For better or worse, in my case for better, the Joker movies are ones that really wear their influences on their sleeve, and having the visuals of a classic Hollywood musical fill the screen but like…Jokerfied makes for something fun and exciting, like this weird 70s pastiche crossed with La La Land or as the internet has already dubbed it: “Ha Ha Land.” Director of Photography Lawrence Sher continues to be the MVP of these films (along with presumably Hildur G and her haunting music) filling the frames with striking visuals and allowing the grime and grandeur of this world to seep through the screen. The cinematography, score, and Joaquin Phoenix's unsettling performance worked in unison to carry the first Joker film all the way to the Oscars and presumably, Warner Bros. has the confidence to believe they can do it again with Joker 2 and based on the trailer…there’s no reason to think otherwise seeing as I’m already more in on this wild swing for the fences take on the clown prince of crime than I was in 2019! Not only are we getting the first non Margot Robbie Harley Quinn with Lady Gaga Harley Quinn, but Folie à deux looks to be the bold, weird, inspired kind of filmmaking I crave from the comic book movie genre. Who knows if we’re going to cap the series at two or if we’re going to get a third Joker movie about him finally meeting Batman? The chronology of this world is insane, but it could still be something interesting, and with a clear vision at the helm, I’m excited to see what Joker Folie à deux has in store for us. Who knows? I thought if they can make an amazing film about great singer artist such as Elvis, why not one of the greatest pop singer of all time Michael Jackson. The cast now got some update with some official actors that are announced plus cast like Chris Tucker, since he is MJ’s best friend, Macaulay Culkin and Samuel L Jackson are among my personal choice of joining the cast of the dream trailer. For this version of the dream trailer I wanted to dig deeper to the story aspect by showing more segment, and Samuel L Jackson takes the center stage for that. I made it clear right from act 1 that he is playing MJ’s father. I even gave Chris Tucker some spotlight to talk to MJ saying “Michael I’m excited to work with you, I’m a huge fan of your music”. This time I made sure to put more scenes of Jafaar Jackson since he will be playing his uncle MJ. Despite him only having clips from his music video I thought it was good enough. I even made it look like he hugged Chris Tucker. Then I made the wording sequence say “The King of Pop, Story, Comes to the big screen, for the first time” This is true. Since there has been many documentary about MJ there was never a biopic film. Then I made it end with Michael saying “let’s make history” since the biopic film will indeed make history.
