This is what I like to call a living paddle out. I wanted to take my dad out on the outrigger or at least a 2 man kayak but I waited to long and he no longer wanted to do it. He asked that I take his ashes out in my outrigger and dump them in the ocean after he was gone, so I did. My family and I had a paddle out to honor him on that day. One day I asked Bob if he would like to go out on the outrigger in the Dana Point Harbor. Much to my surprise he said yes. I believe Bob was 86 years old at the time. I decided to make a video of it and save it as a living paddle out to honor Bob.

My wife took this video of my son boggie boarding and me surfing about 15 years ago. After watching my son almost get killed from me running him over helps me understand why he never got into surfing. If surfing with your dad is this bad surfing with strangers can only be worse.

Terry surfs Doheny on a Kai wa'a Ares outrigger (phantom 4 4K video) This is a video of Terry Betts surfing Doheny on his outrigger during one of the better south swells of the year on 10/7/17 Terry and I knew this swell was coming and planned on the filming of this video. Although I had many technical difficulties with the drone and I missed the large majority of Terry's rides (including and wave that was clocked on his GPS at 19 MPH) I still am very happy with the way the video came out. I hope to do many more videos with Terry in the future. Terry is riding a Kai wa'a Ares

Jeff & Elaine OC2 mixed SO. CAL. CHAMPS This is a video of Jeff & Elaine working out while coaching the 6 man outrigger teams. Jeff & Elaine were the California state champs at the time of this video and it's not hard to see why when you watch the video. I am always amazed at how perfectly in sync they are throughout the whole video. I am also very impressed with their form. If you watch carefully, you will notice they left all the 6 man canoes in the dust. The music is by Darrell Mansfield, and the song is Born to be wild

Pacific Paddle Games Dana Point 2018

This is a video of Sherri Murray and Dana Murray crossing the finish line of the California 100 race. The California 100 race is a one-day 100-mile race on the Sacramento River. Some people do this as a relay race, and some do this as an iron race and Sherri, and I did this as an iron race which means that we paddle all 100 miles in one day. This was extremely challenging for me but for Sherri maybe not so much.

Becky Stuart Memorial Outrigger & surfski Race 2017 This is the long course race. This race is a 10-mile race along the coast of Oceanside California. This video shows only the beginning of the long course race. Dana & Sherri with Nate & Kelli Cabrillo downwind run (Switchfoot. Where I belong) This is a video of a Cabrillo downwind run that we did with Nate & Kellie. We Started at Cabrillo State beach, and we came in at Sunset Beach. This was a moderately good day for a Cabrillo downwind run. Cabrillo is known as the best place for downwind outrigger surfing. When oceans rise This is a video of our down wind run from Cabrillo State Beach to Bolsa Chica on 3/23/14. We had a very small SD card in the camera, so we only got a small amount of the trip, so the last part of the video is from our last big storm in Dana Point on 3/1/14. We planed a Cabrillo to Newport Harbor downwind run, but it didn't work out that way. This was the worst lineup for a Cabrillo run I have ever seen. We were being hit by a large cross swell pretty much the whole way. We still had fun, but it took longer than we thought it would. We started at 4:00 pm and got in at 8:30 pm (after dark). As we came in the harbor, the Coast Gaurd had 2 red flags up. I had to look up what 2 red flags means when I got home. I had never seen them put up 2 red flags before. It turns out 1 red flag is a small craft warning 2 red flags means Gale force wind warning.

Outrigger surfing at Salt Creek This is a video of Sherri and me outrigger surfing at Salt Creek. You can see the life Guards in a jeep on the beach and after our outrigger flipped over in the surf the Life Guards asked us to leave the area.

Outrigger whale watching In this video we were trying to paddle from Oceanside to Dana Point, and we ran into a blue whale and 2 humpback whales. This video is of one of the Humpback whales about 6 miles straight out from San Onofre nuclear power plant.

This video is of Ray my paddling partner leading the whale watching boats about 3 miles outside of Dana Point harbor. Ray is paddling and I am filming the gray whale right in front of our outrigger.

This is a video of Sherri and me ridding bumps on our OC-2 outrigger. A gray whale pops up about 15 feet in front of us. Most of the whale is covered by our bodies but you can see the tail of the whale as it dives down. It takes place at the beginning of the video just as Sherri stops paddling to watch the whale, also you can tell when it was by our reactions to the whale.

Sea lion rescue While my friend Ray and I were paddling on a 2 man outrigger, we saw a whale breach 3 times in front of us. We also rescued a baby seal and turned him into the sheriff patrol boat this all happen within 1 hour on the water. What a day and a blessing from God!
