What are some of the basic creative items to be aware of when starting a scene or to process when in the middle of the scene - I broadly cover that here. There is a link below to my substack where you can see the application of these elements in my own recent work.

Per viewer request, I dove into some Vladimir Nabokov texts as well as some of my students work and observations. He's definitely in my top 3 novels wrestling with Steinbeck and Richard Wright.

Author David Nance Post-release Interview about his novel Triangle (higher quality)
David Nance found the time to sit down for a conversation after publishing his novel Triangle. We hadn't spoken since I'd finished my live reading editorial feedback on the novel. We discuss how watching my editorial reading helped and the process he used to finish the novel from there. We discuss cover design and plans for a sequel in the future as well.

Looking for Publisher, Editor, Agent with novel and story pitches
I'm looking for a Publisher, Editor or Agent and potential traditional publishing routes. I'm currently planning on releasing chapters from different books akin to serial publishing like that of novels published in newspapers during Melville's and Dicken's era. I enjoy the idea of releases a variation of chapters with book, chapter and subchapter numbers so readers can see where sections fall in the novel's timelines like grabbing different issues of a comic series but a store is missing a few issues. Or like when Blockbuster would send me tv season dvds out of order.
But serialized independent releases doesn't have to be the way and would welcome a conversation about the traditional publishing route. I just want to know where literary publishing can go from 2022 and beyond.
Hope I hear from you!

Looking for Publisher, Editor or Agent with no pitches
I'm a novelist and screenwriter looking for traditional publishing options. Can't say I'll be a great fit, but figure we can have a conversation. I lay out my writing and editing experience and general interests without going into plot details.

Looking for an artist to Collaborate with
I'm a novelist and film writer looking for artists to collaborate with. I'm just looking to have an initial convo to see if there's potential. I'd love to make some comics (possibly utilizing crowd funding or using more traditional methods) but am looking for some illustration work for my novels. Potentially covers or interior line work. I'm interested in taking pitches doing an original project or adapting my own work into comics.

Hi Adam, I just wanted to put something together out of appreciation and catch up a little since it's been a decade or so since we've last seen each other. I'm curious as to what you've got going on and if you'd be interested in a convo about potentially collaborating.

Thank you Brandon Sanderson
Hi Brandon, from one writer and college writing instructor to another I just want to say thanks and share at least one idea that came when listening to your lectures. I promise, there's no sucker punches at the end.
Supplementary Teaching Sources - I was hired to edit the novel of someone I went to undergrad with over a decade ago. I read the entire book on camera and talked through every bit of his writing. There's some 24hrs of video. Below I'm attaching a post-publication interview as well as two of the sessions. While I'm not teaching undergrad at the moment, I would offer these to my own students, and having listened to your lectures, there's potential your students may find this helpful. I've been putting time into trying to deliver online lectures but got asked to edit this book. I also have a video I did reading and talking through Nabokov's "Good Readers, Good Writers".

Triangle by David Nance Editing Session 7
This is Session 7 of editorial feedback for David Nance's novel Triangle. Breaking from continuing through the novel, I got back and take a closer look at sections from Session 6. I work through the text in more detail.

David Nance described this session in a text as "The #7 breakdown was almost agony. You're like a personal trainer telling me to crank out 10 more reps when my arms are already shaky. Those two chapters were painful to write. So much going on. So many details to choose which to focus on. I tried. But you're probably right that there could be more..."
