The Abbey of the Lemur-Screaming, Pepto-Pink Sheets of Liquid Hell
(2009) Viewers of the old shows might note, here, that at this point I became more concerned with what I could do with 99 tracks of audio than I was with coming up with funny jokes or interesting bits. Guilty as charged and sorry but not sorry.
The show also includes a rant (which never aired locally) about a local gallery...suffice to say that it was less about the gallery and more about the ownership/management at the time, who eventually washed their hands of the place. If you're looking for something to be lucrative the arts may not be your bag. I later became a friend and fan of a number of the artists and enjoyed the gallery as a whole.

THE ABBEY OF THE LEMUR-BOHICA, Baby!
(2003) B.O.H.I.C.A. Stands for "Bend Over, Here It Comes Again!" Probably our overall statement regarding the Town Fathers and authority in general....a giant slab of brutal, ugly, tasteless social commentary that we lobbed out like a molotov cocktail----attempting to skewer classism, hypocrisy, colonialism and how degeneracy gets a pass as long as you have money. Which still seems relevant today (cough, Epstein, cough, Maxwell). The first part of the show seems to be the "setup"----In the second half, Jet comes out as his Billy Nabob character and Shannon appears as a similarly disgusting alter ego. I just keep on doing what I'm doing. The Man of One Face.
As per usual, the viewers of Fayetteville missed what we were actually trying to say, took it on face value and thought it was just degeneracy. Jet lifted the lengthy Billy segment and folded it into an episode of his own show. To our surprise, the City actually went after "Billy Nabob" and began a criminal investigation. CAT's Board had a hearing about it. Bob Emenegger showed up with his friend, the City's Chief Administrator, who had called for the investigation. The VDA Mafia showed up at the meeting in force. The administrator backed down, perhaps not wanting to get dragged through the mud and ridiculed, like we had done with Bob.
There was a palpable sense of dread regarding the investigation. In the end "Billy" was cleared of all charges, the City's Chief Prosecutor deciding it was "not obscene---just stupid." The "Billy" controversy wound up being the last significant controversy the VDA faced. I think after that everyone wised up and realized this Free Speech thing was too hard to get around and we knew what we were doing.
In addition to the usual music of the time-----Herschel's Radiator Shop and Mr. Fisk, this show contains music by deejay epidemic, from the CD, "La Belle Dame Sans Merci".
Oh----yeah-----Don't @ us concerning the Confederate Flag. It was a fuckin' prop, that's all. Watch the show.

THE RSVP TO ELLIS ISLAND
(2002) The late Cat Fury brought the house down on "The Abbey of the Lemur" 's 5th Anniversary live show with this incendiary debut of her poem, which I personally think stands as her greatest performance.
She introduces the poem as "The RSVP to STATEN Island" but later changed the island to Ellis, which more correctly depicts what she was shooting for.

The Asylum Open Mics Vol. 2
(2003) This was in my on-deck circle to upload anyway, but recent events have made it seem a little more relevant than it previously would have been. The 2003 Ozark Slam Team perform poetry live in Oklahoma City. The Poets are Cat Fury, Doug Shields, Russ Ritter and Fayetteville Poet Laureate Clayton Scott.
Kendra Croddy aka Cat Fury passed after a long struggle with cancer on June 5th 2022.
Also included following the show is a comedy bit starring Dr. Clovis Hoof, addressing the failed obscenity complaint and smear jobs done in newspapers against the Abbey of the Lemur crew in 2003. Fun stuff!

THE ABBEY OF THE LEMUR-One Sexy Grenade
(2005) The "Unofficial" finale to the Tin Age (although its dry heaves continued emerging for a short while thereafter)....Jet Black's final episode with TAOTL. We had enough residual material to keep him on the air for a year or so but this was his last taped appearance before leaving Fayetteville. Segments on this show include "Holy Crap...it's Vercingetorix Jones!", the notorious Natalie Cole Rant, "Future Afflictions", "The New Flavor", "Cubist Nightmare" and other assorted goodies. On the whole, a pretty good episode, I think.
Also, capping things off there's a fairly rare trailer for our lengthy episode, "Gird your Loins, Gomer!"

THE ABBEY OF THE LEMUR-T.E.O.D.
(2002) EXCLUSIVE TO RUMBLE!
At this point in time several Asylum regulars (all of whom were either Lemurs or Lemur-Adjacent) started having these huge tandem birthday bashes. Some of the fun that took place at this time included ritual birthday spankings, wacky indoor & outdoor games, larping with deadly objects and a lot more, all of which is in evidence here.
Also included here are a couple of random political bits----a satirical bit involving slugs (which could be easily be relevant today!) and something involving chemtrails, a theory I was open to at the time but now no longer endorse.
This was controversial at the time, not with regard to public complaints but with regard to people who were there at the parry who were not happy when one partygoer decided to torch a flag on camera and did not want to be seen as if they approved of such an act. So there's their disclaimer. Not everyone was down with that particular stunt.
I was very drunk here, probably the closest I've been to blackout drunk, and I behave very stupidly. Someone, a couple of days later, walked me through the whole thing mentally and helped me put it back together. No apologies---I had fun.
Lemurs and VDA Mafia at their debauched pinnacle. Enjoy.

THE ABBEY OF THE LEMUR-2 Drunk Guys Cussing (Deluxe Edition)
(2003) Episode title inspired by a critique lobbed against us by Fayetteville's then-Mayor, Chuck and Panda sit on a couch with deliberately low-quality production whereupon we grouse about World Affairs and whatever else was bothering us at that time. Somewhere in the middle of the mess our ole pal Billy Nabob Bubba pops up and gives a rant.
The Bonus material here includes "Sharing Our Shows" (a clip about TAOTL I put together to show VIPA--kind of a these-are-the-producers-and-this-is-what-they-do featurette), Shannon's "Evolve or Die" Short Take and a bunch of random promos.
