2 Lessons in Life PEOPLE LEARN TOO LATE
This is the origin story for the writing of Failure Rules!: The 5 Rules of Failure for Entrepreneurs, Creatives, and Authentics (Coming September 2022)
In this video we will uncover why failure itself doesn’t rule—in fact, it sucks.
Failure can ruin lives. Ruin families. Destroy health. Obliterate self-esteem. And launch ripple effects tasted exponentially by those in its extended path.
Failure can plant an unbridled jostling within the heartbeat of your soul. A debilitating stirring that haunts your gut. An anarchic terror that paralyzes your mental capacities.
Failure can freeze your ability to digest food correctly, to make even the
smallest of decisions, to exercise, to love, and to be loved.
Let’s face it: failure really blows.
I didn’t write FAILURE RULES! to worship at the twisted altar of self-indulgent, willful failure. There is no lesson, no discovery, and no value in that.
But failure that is unintended, stridently fought against, creatively challenged, and humbly accepted when emerging inevitable, is valuable.
Because after it sucks, Failure Rules!

The ONE Thing EVERY ENTREPRENEUR Needs to Hear to BE SUCCESSFUL (Dropkick Murphys, Hatebreed, etc)
Here Is the Failure Rules Soundtrack Story (at Lucky’s Bar). Here is the One Thing Every Entrepreneur Needs to Hear to Be Successful.
When I lived in South Philly, I used to love sitting belly up to the bar at LUCKY’S LAST CHANCE in South Philadelphia.
One of the reasons I loved it there, even though I love many genres of music, was because Lucky’s Last Chance is punk as fuck. And punk rock is the music closest to my heart.
This is also why I created a soundtrack playlist as a companion to my book Failure Rules! Because for me, there is a critical intersection between the power of music and the ability to overcome hard times and failed.
And because in my view, ALL stories need soundtracks. Including failure stories.
You see, narratives find their animation when bolstered by guitars, bass, drums, vocals, beats, and melody. Attendant music amplifies the sensibilities of the story, with colorful words, and of poignant lessons.
These are the sounds of failure.
These are the sounds of hard times.
These are the sounds of holding it down.
These are the sounds of overcoming.
These are the sounds that helped me rule.
Now go find your own failure songs.
So you can rule too.
“First Failure” by the Gorilla Biscuits
This reminds us that we can always wipe the dirt off and reboot after every failure
“Always the Hard Way” by Terror. To remind us to decisively choose the hard right over the easy wrong as we brush off failure’s rubble
“Odd Boat” by Flatfoot 56, Which charges us to always say farewell to shallow
times and embrace meaning in all things—even our failures
“The Way of the Road” by The Koffin Kats
That reminds us that sometimes its okay
to burn the candle at both ends
when we’re stretched beyond capacity in maximizing
our calling journey pursuits
For the last 4 songs check out the whole video to find them out 🤘

1 Thing EVERY ENTREPRENEUR NEEDS to Be Successful 😲👍
In this video, you'll find me in a state park getting a bike ride in so I can disconnect from the noise of the week and reconnect with the divinity of nature.
This is the one thing that can help all entrepreneurs be successful: learn how to spend time with nature. One can fully harness the Divinity of Purpose through the divinity of nature. This often grants entrepreneurs and creatives special insights, revelations and ideas to succeed on their rocky entrepreneur journey.
So I ask, how about you and your life? What are you doing to connect with nature?
Watch the full video here:
Wisdom counselor, Rabbi Mordecai Finley posed this exact question to the listeners of the Rich Roll podcast. He posed this question, he explained, because nature is a Garment of God.
What exactly does that even mean? Well, I suppose it depends on the individual.
In this video, we will examine this idea with Hare Krishna punk rocker and co-host of the Wisdom of the Sages Podcast, Raghunath Cappo, Albert Einstein, Ann Frank, Rabbi Mordecai Finley, and Marcus Aurelius guiding us.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO FAIL (From The Ashes We Will Rise Again 🔥 )
Don't be afraid to fail because failure purifies us, burns off the waste we have accumulated, and reveals the essence of our
Being. It in this state that we can learn to see the lights in our shadows. From the Ashes We Will Rise Again.
FAILURE RULE #1: Failure Purifies is our friend.
It is when we are weighed down by the overbearing blinding effect of the shadows that enshroud us that failure can purify us and enable the light in the shadows to emerge. So don't be afraid to fail.
There are many strains of failure that can occur. They are not all avoidable. They are not all self-imposed. Some failure—the general experiential failure synonymous with the mere participation in the human condition—simply occurs to us or around us or enshrouds our circumstances without consulting our will and without ratification.
It is this type of failure—contained within Failure Rule #1: Failure Purifies, that J.R.R. Tolkien, the father of high fantasy, knew well during his time serving with the British army in World War I.
Watch this video and don't be afraid to fail in your life. Learn more about how J.R.R. Tolkien rose from the ashes of the failure that encircled him and how you can too.

1 Way To GET BACK ON TRACK When You've LOST YOUR WAY (Dealing with Moral Failure)
Just as FAILURE RULE #5: You Are Not Your Failures is true, it is also true that you are not your moral failures.
This doesn’t mean that you won’t have to deal with the ramifications of your moral failures. It doesn’t mean that you won’t suffer as a result of some of the outcomes of your moral failures.
But it does mean that they don’t define you unless you let them.
It does mean that you can be transformed and re-claim your life and leave those moral failures behind you.
Just as FAILURE RULE #2: Failure Purifies is true, it is also true that moral failure purifies you. And when it does, it can often help birth a much better next version of you.
Learn this lesson from examples including Christian Picciolini, Elgin James, Jason Whitlock, Dorian Yates and the fictional character of Jimmy McGill from the TV show Better Call Saul.

1 HARSH TRUTH You Need To Accept To LIVE A HAPPY Life (MOTORHEAD - Born to Lose, Live to win)
BORN TO LOSE, LIVE TO WIN. This is 1 harsh truth you need to accept to live life the fullest.
So, what the hell am I talking about when I say that we’re Born to Lose? And does that mean every one of us or just some of us? Well, I guess it depends.
I think all of us are pre-dispositioned to being overcome by the difficulty and weight of life in some form or another. I think all of us are tempted by the innate human tendency to be drawn into selfishness, self-destructiveness, and mediocrity.
We are all born with our own portion of hamartia—a Greek term to describe a fatal flaw that causes us to miss the mark.
So, no surprises in all this. We are born imperfect and life is difficult.
But some of us choose to wallow in this space and exacerbate it out of laziness, weakness, or a lack of self awareness.
Some of us just accept this without ever making the effort to push our rocks uphill and defiantly choose to live to win anyway.
But leaning in with the full force of our Being’s weight into pushing our rocks uphill, in an effort to live to win—in spite of having been born to lose—is exactly what we need to do.
Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead was once quoted as saying:
“Life’s not safe. Your work’s not safe. When you leave the house, it isn’t safe. That’s why you have to enjoy the moment.”
Lemmy instinctively knew the truth of FAILURE RULE #2: Nothing Is Safe.
Yet, he chose to embrace this unsafe life—with all of its failure, flaws, and danger—by decisively choosing to live anyway.
Don’t let exaggerated feelings of failure’s terror prevent you from taking the ride you were created to enjoy.
Don’t let that inhibition prevent you from savoring the joys that exist in intentionally living to win even as you wake up many days feeling as if you were born to lose.
You must always find a way back to living to win

But, he's like a jack-in-the-box, because after every punch life hits him with, he pops back up and rebuilds his life—informed by failure—with a big smile on his face.
At first, failure sucks. But if you follow the rules of failure—seeing beyond the mess and picking through the good stuff left in the rubble—you can move forward into success.

From The Ashes We Will Rise Again 🔥 (LIGHT IN THE SHADOWS)
Failure purifies us, burns off the waste we have accumulated, and reveals the essence of our
Watch this video and hear more about how J.R.R. Tolkien rose from the ashes of the failure that encircled him and how you can too.

OWN THE NIGHT! (Early Bird Vs Night Owl Debate Settled)
Early Bird Vs Night Owl Debate, Who is victorious?
“Get up early. Get a jump on the day.”
You’ve heard this message from so many in the personal development and
inspiration space. Whether it's Retired Navy Seal Jocko Willink and his unfailing daily 4:30am wristwatch pics on Instagram or Stoic author Ryan Holiday and his assertion that if you win the morning, then you will win the day.
But not all of us work that way. Some of us don’t thrive until nightfall. Some of us don’t work best by getting a jump on the day but instead by STAMPING OUT THE DAY and OWNING THE NIGHT.
It’s natural and easy to only associate productivity and industriousness with daylight hours. It’s also easy to then primarily associate the night with rest, entertainment, or play. The early Bird Vs Night Owl Debate has been answered by many and most people say that early birds are more associated with productivity and success. But for many entrepreneurs and creatives, it is when the rest of the world checks out, turns off the lights, and goes silent that they then light up and fall headfirst into extreme flow states. Not all types of work are best accomplished and conditioned by rising early
For some of us, it is the unseen, intellectual, and spiritual cultivation of dreams, art, and entrepreneurial mutations that breeds best in the silence of the night and the mystery of the after-hours.
This is when late-night research, uninterrupted reflection, and deep planning can flourish without the tyranny of time-boxed distractions, boisterous bustle, and scheduled stress.
Watch this video and hear more about the benefits of working at night for those who are oriented to thrive in the after hours.
