A tip for moms with Low Back pain, Post-partum and beyond!
Hi ladies! There are SO many things we could get into on and around this topic, but here’s my “common sense” take on low back pain developing as a new mom, and a simple exercise to make mom-life a bit easier. I’m a physical therapist out of Knoxville, Tennessee, trying to help women figure out the best way for each of them to live with less pain so they can be present & have more fun! If you find this helpful, please share! Note: meant to be educational; not to be construed as personalized medical advice. Please consult a medical provider or physical therapist to develop a personalized plan for you!

Quick Yoga Pose for Low back Pain After Sitting All Day
This is a quick tutorial on Reverse Pigeon, a yoga pose that stretches both the psoas major and rectus femoris muscles, two muscles that can get quite tight after sitting all day! The psoas major attaches to the front of your lumbar spine, and the rectus femoris to the front of your pelvis just above where the front of your thigh meets your torso. Because of this, when they are tight, they can actually pull on your low back and tip your hips uncomfortably forward. Give this a try to relieve some low back pain after sitting all day! Taught by Dr. Janine Bobby Ellison, physical therapist, of Full Bloom Women’s Physio and Yoga in Tennessee. Let us know what you think!

Yoga to Improve Lung Function after Covid
An easy to do at home yoga tip to improve your lung function after Covid-19 infection, or improve lung function in general! Equipment: 2 pillows, and either your bed (yes!), couch, or floor. Can be performed while wearing an oxygen delivery device! Go at your own pace, stay within painfree movement, and listen to your body. The more often you do this, the better you will get air into the lower lobes of your lungs, for stronger, deeper, better breathing and returning to living life again. Try 5-10 every day, each side. Dr. Janine Bobby Ellison is a physical therapist, yoga instructor, and veteran, who had Covid-19 herself. She uses her knowledge of human biomechanics and yoga practice to rehabilitate herself and her patients holistically.
