Why you should stop deep cleaning and give yourself a break
I think you should ditch the deep cleaning.
And I’m going to tell you why. (Because I’d better back this one up!)
Here are the three reasons why I think giving yourself a pass – calling it a day at “good enough” – is better for your brain.
What you’ll learn:
• Number 1: It removes perfectionism
• Number 2: When you release perfectionism, you’re able to right-size your thinking
• Number 3: you can give your brain a break
See if your life doesn’t feel better – easier – lighter when you embrace the “good enough” cleaning system.
When you just focus on that day’s task, and let the other days take care of themselves.
Floor’s dirty? Yeah, you’ll get to it tomorrow. It’s vacuuming day. But today? It’s not on your radar anymore.
Ditch the deep cleaning to-do’s, and give your (already busy) brain a break.
Your motherhood will thank you.

How to triage your to-do list
We’ve all been there….
• Do I really have to do that?
• Couldn’t I just skip out on this today?
• Is the sky actually going to fall just because I didn’t ____ (dust the fan, organize the hall closet, or whatever task is on your “should” list today)?
Well, it’s time to clear your to-do lists once and for all, ladies.
No more mile-long running reminders for you!
You deserve a pared-down list of priorities that can actually get done in the time allotted.
What you’ll learn:
• How to decide if you should keep this task on your to-do list
• Is it stressing you out to have it hanging over your head?
• Your mental health is more important than crossing off an arbitrary number of to-do’s
You’re not responsible for getting everything in the world done.
Let me say that again. You are not responsible to do every single thing that every single podcast you ever listened to tells you to do.
Deep breath, now.
This is your life. Your choosing. And yes, your task list.
So tell me, what are you deleting today?
You’ve got this!

You won’t see progress if you don’t prune your life
You guys have all heard the definition of insanity attributed to Einstein, right?
You know, the one that goes like this: “The definition of insanity is doing things the same way and expecting a different outcome.”
That one.
So, where are you doing that in your own life, right now?
Going about your week, or day, or year in the exact same way – and still expecting that one day the magic will strike, and everything will work again?
You see, here’s the key.
You have to actually get up and do something different.
What you’ll learn:
• The definition of insanity in your #momlife
• If life by itself is too hard, something needs to get deleted
• Then I want you to add something back in – white space
Time by yourself, in sweet peace and quiet, to take a deep breath.
That’s what you need to really succeed in life. #Momlife, especially. And I want you to find it.
Because going from here, life right now, to there? (AKA, your dream life.)
It’s going to take change.
No more insanity for you, my mom friend. It’s time to press delete.
Where do you need to try something different today?
You’ve got this!

How to calm your mind when you can’t shake your anxiety
You know, sometimes life just isn’t working.
Despite all the forward action, pre-prepping, and positive mindset shifts, you’re still dealing with all-encompassing anxiety about that one issue.
Maybe it’s your birth choices.
Maybe it’s a parenting disagreement.
Maybe it’s what to do about a diagnosis.
Even something as mundane as a new eating plan.
Whatever the specifics of your life scenario, I know one thing for certain:
Sometime the heaviness just keeps coming back.
And back. And back.
And it seems like there’s nothing you can do about it.
What should you do in these situations?
What you’ll learn:
• Give yourself space to feel the emotions and let the peace come
• It isn’t a magic process of “talk it out once and you’re good to go”
• Do something to get ahead of the curve (aka, play defense for repeated triggers)
There’s no reason to flail around trying to invent the wheel every time when it’s a repeating drama.
You can play defense by planning to use that playlist, bring up a meditation app, or stashing a journal in with those innumerable medical papers.
Why not? It’s going to help you change your life. (At least around this one recurrent issue.)
What concrete action can you take to relieve some of the heaviness that’s in your life right now?
You’ve got this!

Why I prefer a digital to-do list and planner
Let me ask you: Are you a paper girl or a digital-all-the-way die-hard?
I’d have to say I love paper – but I refuse to use a traditional planner.
Instead, I live by my digital to-do lists, menu plans, and Gmail calendars.
If you’re curious about why I made that choice, keep reading….
What you’ll learn:
• My top reason for preferring electronic to paper is that I love deleting what I’ve finished
• Digital to-do lists are endlessly customizable
• Employing a digital task list is very paper saving (not to mention space!)
Should you use a paper planner or go digital?
It all depends on your top priority. If you love the feel and use of actual paper products, fill up that journal and have fun.
If you’re like me, and you want the neatest, most sleek-and-minimal aesthetic possible (and don’t mind being tied to a digital device), then go electronic.
It’s all about which way works best for you – as it should be.
After all, if you’re not using that to-do list, is it really doing you much good?
Give it a try in the other dimension (physical vs. electronic) if you can’t ever seem to get anything done.
Or confirm yourself in your life-long affinity for paper products/love affair with digital if you’ve got a system that works.
You’ve got this!

Conquering the chaos at home: a how-to guide
So. The kids are home, you’re home, your husband’s home – and you have no idea what you’re going to do with the kids all day.
It sounds like chaos to you, actually. (Since we’re being real here….)
There goes your nice, comfortable routine. No coffee in quiet; no peaceful lunches; no baby-and-me tickle sessions on the floor.
Instead, you’ll have everyone begging for a sip of your drink, the noise of a hundred voices raised in arguments over how their sandwiches were cut (or the leftovers you chose to serve that day), and the moment you get down on the floor to play with the baby by himself? Everyone piles on!
Yikes. No wonder we don’t want the kids back from school.
No wonder sometimes we rethink this whole “work from home” flex arrangement.
No wonder we just need a break.
But if this is you, and the kids aren’t going away (‘cause let’s be real – summer camp doesn’t cover all of summer!), let’s do something about it.
Let’s find out how to thrive at home when your routine is upended.
What you’ll learn:
• First thing: track your new normal
• What’s the real problem? Think root level here
• Find new solutions to new problems (even if they’re temporary ones)
All you need to do is try something. If it doesn’t work, no big deal! Just pick the next solution from your list and give that a go.
Really, it doesn’t have to be so hard.
We don’t have to strive to be perfect from the get go.
We’re allowed to just feel things through.
We’re human – and so are your kids. It’s perfectly natural to wish they’d give you peace and quiet.
So why don’t we set up your day, add some structure and boundaries, so that you do get what you need, instead of just whining about it?
That’s what an action-taker does. And I know you’re one of them.
What are you going to change today?
You’ve got this!

Me time for moms: the little-known secret to stop yelling at your kids
You feel like you can handle one more thing.
Just one more.
You can handle it. But you cannot speak for yourself and your attitude after that.
You’ve felt this many times, I’m sure. (I sure have – those kids, am I right?)
So – what to do about it?
We're going to talk about yelling and how to stop the boundaries way (not the willpower way), because I'm guessing you've already tried the willpower.
What you’ll learn:
• Have firm, no-guilt boundaries
• Warn your kids when you’re about to lose it
• Know your limits and stop ahead of time
What's going to pull you back from the edge? You need to know that, and build it into your day.
If you think about it, it's really a gift to your kids and their childhoods.
Wouldn't they rather we listened to their playlist for 10 minutes and have that cheerful, smiling mommy, than get to listen to their music for 40 minutes and have mom yell at them the rest of the day?
I know which I'd pick.
You’ve got this!

How to host simple, non-stressful birthday parties
Have you ever wanted to skip the party this year with your kids?
Just ditch the hassle, celebrate them simply, and go guilt-free?
Well, you can simplify birthdays – but you don’t need to quit the party hosting to do it. (Unless you want to!)
Read on for three hacks to make birthdays lighter for you.
(Since you’re the one doing the planning, wrapping, buying, and cooking!)
What you’ll learn:
• The most important question to ask yourself when stressed out about party planning
• Find the can’t-skip tradition (s)
• Come up with a new plan – one that blends your must-have list with your avoid-at-all-costs list
Cut out all the things you hate doing, or outsource them to a friend (or the store!), and jump in to the good stuff – the “only our family does this” stuff.
You’ll find planning the next birthday party is a much more joyful process.
What are you ditching from the party planning this year, guilt-free?
You’ve got this!

Why you’re doing your kids a favor by making them do chores
Tell me if this sounds familiar:
You tell your kids to clean up, they tell you that they’re done, and… it doesn’t look any different.
Oh, boy. Life of a mom, right?
Let me fill you in on the three-step process I use with my own kids – maybe it’ll spark some ideas for you.
Ready?
What you’ll learn:
• Get straight on the importance of a work ethic (for your kids)
• Teach your kids how (because they don’t know, and they don’t want to)
• Decide in advance what the consequences are, and how you’re going to respond
So what do you think – is it time to start nurturing that work ethic in your kids?
Which chores could you delegate to them for that purpose?
And what are you going to do if they balk and refuse to do them?
It’s your family. Your values. And your choices.
What changes are you going to make today?
You’ve got this!
