Plan your week the easy way with these 5 tricks!
You’ve probably already got into the planning scene. Printables, planners, markers, and post-its, oh my!
But planning is far more than what kind of washi tape you use on your favorite, just-right, it-took-me-four-years-to-find planner.
So pull up a chair, grab a mug of something hot, and let’s streamline the REAL work of planning. Because you’re the family CEO, and you deserve the bottom line.
What you’ll learn:
• There’s no need to reinvent the (planning) wheel
• How to use the Rule of Three in your planning templates
• Why you need to plan for the kids as well
The point of planning is to make your life easier, not to lock you in to a way of doing things that takes three hours to put together, requires tons of deletions, and makes you hate your mom-CEO role.
So what do you need to fix about your planning process? Let’s brainstorm a little.
Then get in there and streamline that plan #allthethings chore. There’s no reason NOT to take all the shortcuts!
You’ve got this!

Here’s how to always have energy for your day!
You know those to-do lists of yours – the ones that you can never get done?
Well, today we’re going to dig into the brain science behind those not-crossed-off tasks and figure out what’s causing the problem, what you can do about it, and how to keep that from ever happening again in your planning life.
What you’ll learn:
• Did you know that your brain is naturally “on” for roughly ninety minutes at a time?
• How to sync your to-do list with your energy cycles
• Why you’re not needy for requiring this much time to recharge
Look – you didn’t pick your personality. God wired that into you. So you’re not choosing to be a high maintenance mom, or pretending to be someone you’re not to get more perks.
This is you; this is your reality.
You’re introverted, you have kids, and you need those brain breaks to spool down + back up to peak functioning.
So what do you say – is your to-do list looking a little more manageable now?
If so, your days are about to get a whole lot better. And you’ll look at an everything-crossed-off to-do list each night when you go to bed.
You’ve got this!

The false choice between me time and mom time
Have you ever gotten stuck in the “I’ve GOT to take a breather, but my kids are begging for a (story/walk/tickle fight)” conundrum?
Today we’re going to go deeper with this “I’ve can’t do self-care and be a good mommy” mindset that’s been ingrained into us. (Despite the constant input from the “love yourself” industry – some things are hard to break!)
Here’s what happens when you live according to that mom = martyr mentality.
What you’ll learn:
• Why you’re constantly living on the edge of breakdown.
• What you’re afraid will happen if you start taking self-care time in the afternoons
• What your “go till you drop” mentality is teaching your kids
What mom mindset lies have you found lurking in your subconscious?
And what truths about yourself, the support you need to give time to the kids, and setting a good example for them are you going to replace those lies with, whenever they pop up?
See, you CAN have time for yourself and for them – not just for them and the to-do list.
Tip over the mommy beliefs iceberg and start melting all those false beliefs.
Your kids will love their childhood, and guess what? You will, too.
You’ve got this!

What to do when running a family feels like too much
What’s a mom to do when you feel like running the family has gotten to be too much?
And is this feeling normal for you, a once-in-a-while thing, or a couple times a week?
Check in with yourself – see where you’re at – and let’s get started.
What you’ll learn:
• Dealing with your particular family – it’s not too much. You can do this.
• With all the stuff you’ve got going on, you probably do need to make some changes.
• To finish off your funk, inject specialness into your family’s day (or week).
‘Cause these are going to be their memories someday, so they might as well be good ones.
So here’s your homework for today:
• Affirm your God-given gut feelings.
• Slash as much as you can from your to-do list, calendar, or planner.
• And then pick one thing to do with your kids every week that you all enjoy.
That’s it – but it’s going to make a big difference in your ability to mentally handle the role of family CEO. You’re going to make it – I know it.
You’ve got this!

How to teach yourself to mentally relax after a busy day
How many times a week do you go to bed with your mind still racing? You can’t quite turn off the thoughts, so you lie awake waiting for the churn to go away.
By then you’ve lost an hour (or two) of sleep. And then your alarm beeps….
Is this scenario familiar?
If so, today we’re going to run through a few hacks that will drastically reduce how much brain churn is going on.
In other words, you’ll finally be able to relax and enjoy your evenings. Sound good?
What you’ll learn:
• Don’t: Hit the sack straight off without debriefing.
• Don’t: Leave tomorrow’s prep work for tomorrow – you know, “I’ll get to it later.”
• Don’t: Hit all the chores you didn’t get to during the day.
Just because there are future to-do’s waiting for you doesn’t mean you need to get up and do them right now.
And if you can’t accomplish today’s essentials by dinner time, then we’ve got a to-do list problem.
You deserve a break, you need a break, and you can’t keep going day after day without a break. You’re taking one.
Because your best life is waiting for you. And it needs you to be rested, not frazzled, to experience it.
So you might as well start practicing now.
You’ve got this!

Which kind of intentional living is right for you?
Let’s do a little poll here: who prefers full living, and who likes the idea of slow better?
See, there’s this debate going on in the minimalism field. Some people are totally into the simplicity of not having much on their schedule, while others just want the freedom to put what they want on their calendar – however much or little that is.
So which side do you fall on? Keep your answer handy.
What you’ll learn:
• If your life is full to the brim with all sorts of good stuff, it’s still full to the brim.
• Redefine slow. What does slow, easy, or light living mean to you?
• Stop apologizing for the ease. I mean it!
Which vision of life best fits your needs? Is most likely to remind you of your simple living goals?
I’m going to pick “slow,” not full. What about you?
Here’s today’s action step: What do you need to add to or delete from your calendar so that it matches your definition of slow living?
You’ve got this!

Discover the top 3 mistakes moms make in their cleaning routines!
Shall we talk cleaning routines? (No, not in a “what you need to change right now because you’re the worst cleaner ever” way!)
Time to get something off your chest: What’s the worst thing about your current cleaning routine?
Is it the expectations of perfection that weigh you down every time you see someone else’s evening speed cleaning routine, the daily “five cleaning habits you must have to succeed,” a weekly deep clean requirement, and quarterly “clean the whole house like crazy” endeavors?
Or is it the lack of help, that fact that no one (not even your oldest kid) can do a competent job, and your husband’s not joining you in any of the inside chores?
Maybe you’re just exhausted by the demands of your current season (hello, sports practice/newborns/surgery recovery) and you Just. Can’t. Fathom. using your limited energy on scrubbing those baseboards.
I know you know the answer – so just tell me, too. What’s the worst part of your typical cleaning program?
Get it out there.
Because now we can do something about it.
What you’ll learn:
• Cleaning Routine Mistake #1: Picking something that sounds nice, but totally doesn’t fit your life.
• Cleaning Routine Mistake #2: Thinking it’s all about discipline.
• Cleaning Routine Mistake #3: Never asking yourself why it’s not working out.
It’s all yours – the problems, the solutions, the life waiting for you around the corner after these tweaks. What are you going to do with it?
Delay it till it never shows up? (I.e., never make changes in your cleaning habits, and hope someday you’ll just “feel” like cleaning?)
Obsess over perfection, and overlook the fact that you’ve got three under three, or a runny nose, or a bad energy day?
Or are you going to ditch the three cleaning mistakes and start your own scrubbing system – one that’s just right for you?
It’s up to you.
If you’re ready, I challenge you to match your chores to your days, only motivate yourself to do the “tiny cleaning” version of each task, and always ask why when you find yourself cutting corners or skipping out on certain parts of your cleaning routine.
These three things will change your cleaning life. I promise.
You’ve got this!

Is your planner contributing to your overwhelm?
We’re moms. Which means we have 1,245 things going on at any given minute. Right?
Let’s prove it: how many action items are on your to-do list, right now? (Go check.)
And how many hours – good hours, not food chopping and kid chasing and bath giving – are left?
It’s time to fix the “too much to do, too little time” paradigm we’re living in. Ready?
What you’ll learn:
• How much are you putting on your to-do list? Come on – be realistic!
• Are you letting projects stand in for to-dos? That’s the best recipe ever for failure!
• Remember – you’re the ultimate boss of your task list.
To-dos are important, but your sanity is even more so.
So if your to-do list is interfering with your mental wellness, cut yourself a bit of slack and delete something (without doing it).
It’s going to be okay; the world won’t fall out of orbit.
A happy mom, a well-rested wife, a restored woman is far more essential than a clean kitchen seven days a week.
You’ve got this. Now go out and conquer that task list.

Permission to hit the delete button (for anything in your schedule)
I’ve got a question for you: What would you like to press delete on right now?
Go on, tell me about it.
• Is it a certain sports practice that’s been driving you nuts? (It’s at the most inconvenient time possible to get your kids fed.)
• Maybe a music lesson teacher who rubs you wrong, but you don’t know of anyone else to teach that instrument? (What if I ruined my daughter’s success as a flautist because of a mere personality conflict?)
• Perhaps one of your church volunteer activities that’s gotten to be more and more an exercise in willpower just to show up? (They said they really needed you, but you could really use some downtime, too – if nothing else, to clean the kitchen!)
Whatever it is, we’re going to talk about some strategies for getting out of your can-do-but-hate obligations.
Because newsflash, it’s really important to your overall life happiness to have as few of these as possible.
What you’ll learn:
• Why you should delete vs. manage your time better
• Get off the #momlife hamster wheel vs. run faster
• The only way to fix “doing too much” syndrome is to stop doing a few things
As you reflect back on your week, or mull over the week ahead, where are you seeing the time-and-energy bottlenecks?
Where do you need to press the delete button?
Give yourself the gift of grace and freedom and do it. Hit delete and take a deep breath. Savor the feeling of not having to do it anymore.
Now go live your life with your delete button superpower ready to hand. What three things do you need to delete most this week?
You’ve got this!

How to ditch the superwoman mindset
Time for some #realmom talk:
Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in a superhero movie? You know, one where all the cards are stacked against you, and your powers just aren’t materializing?
You’re supposed to be this wonderful, amazing mom – have a great house – be out with friends regularly – get fit and stay fit – have a hobby (to stay interesting) – eat healthy (whatever the latest trend for that is) – have a career/passion project for personal fulfillment – and oh yes, be an awesome wife.
And then, somehow, life doesn’t work out that way.
• Babies come with blowouts and spit-ups and three-times-a-night feedings.
• Toddlers constantly need sippy cup refills, restraint from hitting and throwing, and feeding time clean-up.
• Older kids require character parenting plus a whole slew of “no, math is not stupid” and “yes, you have to pick up your room” reinforcements.
You’re like: “I’m sorry, I think I’m more interested in trying to finish that cup of coffee than brainstorming what personal passion project I should go for and whether I’ve given my husband five loving touches today!”
That’s today’s motherhood.
But: it’s all a myth – and you don’t have to stay there.
What you’ll learn:
• No one is superwoman IRL
• Sometimes you just need a break
• It’s all about forward progress
You’re getting there. There is a difference.
It’s all small stuff, but three dozen daily tweaks over two months and you’ll have a much different experience of motherhood.
Give yourself a 30-day challenge: what expectation, chore, or routine am I going to change today to make my life better?
And then see where you’re at on Day 31. Go on – it’s going to be amazing.
Stop playing superwoman, try one thing at a time, and watch your life explode. (In a good way, of course.)

Does coaching work? How to reach a new level in your mom mindset
Have you ever wished you could have a coach just for #momlife matters?
Some people are into health coaches, wealth coaches, speaking coaches – but you’d just like a helping hand in your everyday life right now, thank you very much.
No fancy techniques allowed. Just learning all the #momhacks for the mundane, practical matters that make up the moments of your life – and meeting some great people (fellow introverts, of course!) while you’re at it.
If that sounds like an unattainable pipe dream, well, no longer!
You can have personal, peer-to-peer mentoring for no other reason than “I’m a mom and I need help.”
Or, “I’m an introvert and my kids are driving me batty.” Or even, “I’d like one more baby, but I can’t see how I’ll fit everything in, so we haven’t started trying yet.”
Here’s what peer-to-peer mentoring can do for you.
What you’ll learn:
• Jolt you out of your rut
• Force you to change or quit
• Where to find mom-to-mom mentoring
What are you thinking? Is a peer-to-peer mentoring, introvert-moms community, and guaranteed change sounding good right about now?
I love seeing the lightbulb come on. Which means I can’t wait for you to join us here.
See you in the program!

Your how-to guide for self-improvement the easy way
We’re talking habits today!
Which camp are you in when it comes to habits? “Habits are a pain in the neck,” or self-improvement nerd?
If you’re in camp one, you’ll learn why habits aren’t something to be feared, avoided, or put off at all costs. (Hint: If those are your automatic responses, they’re someone else’s habits.)
And if you’re in camp two, today is a refresher for you. Gut check that you still want to do your habits, and you’re set!
What you’ll learn:
• Habits are just the steel girders of who you want to be
• What does your inner self want to do? Be?
• Treat your habits not as unattainable goals, but as helpful reminders of who you want to be
That life you’ve always wanted? It’s right there.
It’s the sculpture in the marble. You just need to set a few reminders – practice a few habits – and you’ll see the sculpture start to emerge.
You’ll start living that awesome, just-right-for-you life.
You’ve got this!

Do your kids know how to clean their rooms?
Have you ever felt like you and your kids must have a cosmic language mismatch when you say the words “pick up?”
They seem to hear “pick up a few things” or “pick up at some point today.”
They certainly don’t hear, “You have 20 minutes to get this room in tip-top order!” (Which is what you’re really meaning.)
So how can you help them help you? (I.e., turn into responsible picker-uppers?)
Here’s a simple 3-step process that I use in my own home to train those little kid helpers. (Willing or no!)
What you’ll learn:
• Are you going to train them to your standards, or accept kid-level results?
• How do you make sure one kid doesn’t get off scot-free while the responsible ones do all the work?
• Don’t make a habit of letting your tidy-up tornado son rescue his siblings (yes, he’s just being nice; no, they have to learn it for themselves)
So yes, momma. You can have a (pretty) clean house, one that your kids helped with.
You’re just going to have to train them how to do it, and then not let them off the hook for doing their share.
But the results are going to be so worth it.
Look back over your current kid expectations. Do you need to adjust to their current ability level, or expect more of them (and train them how to do it)?
Align your expectations for success.
Which are you changing today – your tidiness standards, or their participation?
You’ve got this!

How we do Christmas: a minimalist family’s guide to the winter holidays
Do you ever wish you could hide from December 23rd till January 2nd?
Just skip the whole holiday celebration thing?
If that’s so, then this article is for you.
Because I’m sharing a little journaling exercise that’ll cut right through the fluff, the should’s, and the perpetual family traditions to the heart of what you want from this holiday.
What you’ll learn:
• What do you look forward to during the holiday season?
• What do you hate doing? If you didn’t have to do it ever again, you’d be singing the Hallelujah chorus?
• Give yourself permission to skip (or outsource) all the stress-inducing activities
Remember – no guilt allowed!
Remember – no guilt allowed!
You’re not somehow celebrating a faux Christmas by skipping out on the hard work of cooking food you don’t like, driving to parties you don’t want to be at, and wrapping presents by the dozen you don’t care about.
You’re doing what’s best for you, while honoring the holiday traditions that mean most to you.
Give yourself permission to do things the easier way – the lighter way – this year.
The rest? It’ll keep – for someone else, some other year.
What are you skipping this Christmas season?
You’ve got this!
