Quailen at Fruits&Berries Tennessean Homestead
Today is March 17th and it is day 17 with our incubator. 45 eggs from Myshire Farm were placed in our Nurture Right 360 incubator that I recently purchased at our local Tractor Supply store.
The 45 eggs went into the incubator on March 1st 2022. From the time of the eggs being freshly laid and shipped by UPS from Ohio, was only 3 days. I had let the eggs rest from the ups delivery for 24 hours. That was on day 28th February 2022. On March 1st, the 45 went into the incubator. Thus, on March 15th, it was Lockdown time. I took all 45 eggs out of the incubator and candled them all. I discovered 5 of them were not fertile. And I disposed the 5 non fertile eggs. The remaining 40 fertile eggs were put back into the incubator at 99.5 F. Humidity went from 45%, now up to 70 to 75 %. Today is the 17th of March. With barely 48 hours since lockdown, we discovered an egg pipping already. Wow! Praise God. At least one of the eggs is alive. lol..
It has been quite an afternoon today and evening. It's now past 10:30pm. I'm in my living room and the Quail are in the spare bedroom with the door closed. I hear the CHIRPING!
Our last count this evening was approximately 9 or 10 and more to come. I have no idea how many more we will hatch but hopping for the best.
I discuss the brooder and grow out/layer cage. I hope you'll enjoy this video. Blessings, Wayne & Aida

Scrambling to save the Fruit Orchard. Artic Blast coming!
This is a tour of both the front of the homestead and back. By this Saturday the 12th of March, temps will be in the low 20"s, snow, and this Sunday and Monday, temps can dip below 10 degrees. What I must do in the next several hours.

Almond Milk Tutorial. The beginning to end process.
I have decided to remake the video on making Almond Milk from our Homestead. I have had many people asking about it thus I recreated it here with a little bit more detail. Hope you like it.
Like I mentioned in the other upload, I am lactose intolerant and that is why I will not be doing or having dairy animals on this homestead but giving many people such as myself, healthy and more veggie and meat/eggs alternatives health wise.
I love the other channels such as Living Tranditions in MO. They are doing a great job with dairy cows and such. I watch them as well as with many others and appreciate all that they share regarding dairy and the like.
I highly recommend their channel also. Anyway, you will see a lot here with what can be done on a half acre. And perhaps, in the near future, Aida and I could expand this homestead. We will just have to wait and see...

Will they LIVE?
In this video, I did the unthinkable. I dug up almost 2 year old peach and nectarine trees to relocate them away from the Leach field. I hope beyond hope that they will survive. I discuss what's coming up in the days ahead on this small homestead.

Part 3 of 3 in this updated status of our Homesteads. How to handle the Leach Field scenario.
Here is the conclusion of our discovery to resolve the issues set before us here at Fruits& Berries.
It's been several months now that we have had to decide what to do with fruit trees being planted so close to the Leach Field at the back of our property. In this last segment of discussion, I share our intent to remedy the situation even though we are advised the trees would be okay to stay where they are currently planted. We shall see...
I also touch on future possible land ownership here in this video.
But what is so exciting is our stepping into Quail raising for meat and eggs. In our intro to this video, you can see that I am in the process of yesterday and today building a Brooder and a grow out cage for the future baby Quails that we will be hatching out.
Thanks for watching here. Thanks for subscribing and thanks for being apart of our family as we move into 2022. God Bless..Wayne and Aida

Fruits and Berries, a small Tennessean Homestead
Pumpkin seeds, Pumpkin flesh, after 5 months. Today is Feb. 9th 2022 and I could not believe that after 5 months of our first ever grown Cinderella Pumpkin, that it is still juicy and looking to be delicious for tonight's dinner! Our small North Eastern Tennessee Homestead is growing and on some upcoming video's, I hope to introduce our egg incubator, 50 jumbo size eggs to go into the incubator and how we are preparing to grow our own meat and eggs on the Homestead. Spring is closing in on us and I now have to get all the 30 plus fruit trees, nut trees and berry bushes prepared to be able to produce this year. In the past 2 years, we have had late frosts that literally have killed our developing fruits.
