FactoryTalk View Studio Site Edition | Alarm & Events Summary In An HMI Header | Batching PLC Day-14
FactoryTalk View Studio Alarm & Events Setup In Under 10 Minutes. For use in our HMI header as a one-alarm display through the use of subscriptions.
Generally, FTView alarms & events summary pages are for a complete section or page. However, there are cases where you would use this in an HMI header to get a first out fault to show up on a global area in the HMI application.
This helps the operators & maintenance techs know what fault they can look for or the best information to move forward with
This is video 14 or this batching station plc training project that we are doing. It is up t us to learn, implement, & succeed so this is why we try to teach plc & HMI controls.

FactoryTalk View Studio Site Edition | Making A Header For An HMI Client | Batching PLC Day-12
In FactoryTalk View Studio Site Edition you can have standard headers for each screen or one default HMI header for the whole HMI application.
In fact, using the way we are showing in this video, you can use a separate header as a screen then call it up in different sections of the HMI application.
This is the twelve video in this series so we are finally getting to stages where we can launch the HMI client. This batching station project shows everything built from scratch for those that are willing to learn video per video.
In this world of information, it is important to note that we have to slow down & pay attention to detail to really learn & care about our future.

Starting a FactoryTalk View Studio Site Edition HMI Application | Batching Station PLC | Day 4
FactoryTalk View Site Edition is a very diverse software & in this video, we show how to start an HMI application in FTview studio V10.
This is the beginning stages of our batching plc project that shows building a complete batching system from scratch. Keep in mind that programming can be done in many different ways, it is the end result that is important.
This is exactly why we wanted to build the complete system video by video. To help pass on as much understanding of plc programming & HMI programming as we can.
This batching station plc training is being made to answer a lot of questions that have been asked on this YouTube channel & others, to help others learn how automation is our future & continuous improvement is important.
What will we be teaching in this series:
✔ Studio 5000 using version 32
✔ FactoryTalk View Studio Site Edition
✔ RSLinx Classic
✔ PLC programming from start to fully working
✔ Powerflex 525 drive controls
Having videos ranging from 5 minutes to 25 minutes with detailed breakdowns to pass on as much as we can to help. I know what it is like to watch video training so starting in the coming videos, we have editing them to point of the details during the talks.

Studio 5000 Tag Structure For I/O | Downloading A Program To A PLC | Batching Station PLC | Day-3
See how easy it can be to download your Studio 5000 PLC program to an actual plc processor in a matter of minutes.
This is our batching station plc training project that we are building from scratch & in this video, we show how to communicate through RSLinx classic to download a plc program then go through the I/O tag structure.
Here are the previous video leading up to this one:
Video 1: https://youtu.be/yUbYDRXhSzE
Video 2: https://youtu.be/GQnJqaG2nUY
Video Content:
0:00 - I/O tree Overview & Quick Talk
1:40 - Opening Who Active in RSLinx Classic
2:20 - Selecting our driver & Ethernet card for the download
3:15 - Downloading the PLC program to the processor
4:22 - Verifying I/O communication
5:30 - I/O tree & the Studio 5000 Tags for that I/O

Adding I/O Into A Studio 5000 PLC Program | Batching Station PLC Programming | Day 2
Knowing how to add your input cards & outputs with ease is a great time saver in Studio 5000 using RSlinx classic.
Being that we are doing a new plc training project for a batching station, we thought that showing every aspect of building this plc project would be a great experience for everyone.
This is video 2 of the Batching Station plc training, here is video 1 in case you missed it.
Video 1: https://youtu.be/yUbYDRXhSzE
What I/O cards are we using?
✔ ENBT card for plc communications
✔ 1756-IB16 DC input card
✔ 1756-OB16I DC output card
✔ 1756-IF8 Analog Card
✔ Powerflex 525 VFD
We use RSlinx Classic to find the I/O devices & also to find the firmware version to have a great chance of success when building the setup properly. This way, we can download the plc program without having any issue just like we will show in the very next video.
Video content:
0:00 - Adding An ENBT card into the I/O tree
5:00 - Adding a 1756-IB16 DC Input Card in the I/O tree
6:30 - Adding a 1756-OB16I DC Output Card in the I/O tree
7:40 - Adding a 1756-IF8 Analog card into the I/O tree
8:30 - Scaling Analog Inputs for a 1756-IF8 card
10:20 - Adding a Powerflex 525 VFD into the I/O tree
15:20 - Auto Device Configuration for a Powerflex 525 VFD
I hope it helped.
Thank you for watching the video.

Powerflex 525 Step Logic For Batching Using Studio 5000 Version 32 With Hardwired Inputs
Powerflex 525 step logic is often not talked about so we made this video to show how step logic can be used with batching system controls.
The Powerflex 525 step logic is designed to work from either a time-based system or based off of the inputs wired to the digital inputs. In fact, this video shows us using digital input two along with preset times to obtain a batching process.
Video Content:
0:00 - Powerflex 525 step logic parameters
1:30 - Testing speed controls before Step Logic change
3:00 - Explaining controls for PLC to Powerflex 525 controls
5:15 - Changing the Powerflex 525 data for PLC data passing
8:20 - Talking about the Powerflex 525 tag structure
9:05 - Passing times to the Step Logic times for controls
11:15 - Setting the Step Logic with a Velocity Wizard
14:30 - Live system testing of a Powerflex 525 Step Logic
17:20 - Real-World batch time simulation
This video is just one of the videos in my Powerflex 525 course that I thought I would share with everyone for two reasons.
To show exactly how we teach & the level of detail.
To help share how step logic works in a Powerflex 525.
I hope you enjoyed the video.

Stratix 5700 CLI Commands Using HyperTerminal For Boot Recovery | Stratix 5700 Will Not Boot
So your Stratix 5700 switch will not boot up, I understand & have been there so I made this video to show how to recover from that along with helpful tricks from Rockwell Tech notes.
HyperTerminal was widely used in Windows XP & Windows 7 which now, a lot of people have started using PuTTY.
But there are limiting factors using PuTTY so I still use HyperTerminal on all of my Windows 10 machines.
Video Contents:
0:00 Talking about using HyperTerminal
2:35 Talking about the USB to Serial Adaptor & Setup
3:20 Setting The Baud rate of the USB to Serial Connection

5:45 Using the CLI command in HyperTerminal
6:30 Note - If NO Boot Then You Will Not be Asked a password
7:10 Checking the Current Boot - Turn Off Manual Boot
9:41 Creating a Bootable SD card
13:45 Singing Into the Stratix 5700 Using Webpage
15:30 Syncing the IOS to the SD card for backup

RSLinx OPC Copy Paste In Excel To Test RSLinx OPC Topic Tags Using Windows 7 With MS Excel 2013
Testing an OPC/DDE connection with Excel is easy to do if you have the right tools, just as we show in this video.
In Windows 10, it is slightly different but I did talk about this in my last video so I wanted to cover how to do these tasks.
I hope it helped.
Thank you for watching the video.
