On September 29-30, 1941, almost the entire Jewish population of Kiev was killed here. Over these two days, 33771 people were shot in Babi Yar. They were mostly Jews, Roma, Poles and Soviet POWs. The mass executions continued until the Red Army liberated Kiev in November 1943.
